I once talked to Ohlmann about landing in high fields and he adviced to use full air brakes at the moment the wing catches the grass. The reason he said, was, to avoid that the other wing rises and you flip over in worst case.
Very nice outlanding - it is of course a joke but one pilot said me some time ago - if a glider pilot can go out from the glider after (out)landing on his own foots - this landing can be regarded as a "good" landing, if the pilot can not only go out on his own foots and this glider still be in flyable condition - this landing can be regarded as a "perfect" landing;-)
Thanks for the share. great to see live outfield landing. Without water, it could had been with more flaring ? Or you try to put it down fast due to terrain reason ?
Thanks for your comment, I did try to flare it all I could, and I do think I managed to get the speed dropped to stall before i hit the crop. You can actually see how it doesn't wanna fly anymore just before I impact. But of course the speed would have been much lower without water.
@@romeosherman5377 As informed in the description of the video as well - fields around there weren't landable. You cannot make out from a video how the conditions are. The field ahead was were we drove the trailers to disassemble the gliders and it was just as tall. I'd prefer the ease of a nice field to land and retrieve in, but that wasn't possible here.
Was it really worth the risk of breaking the tail? Never leave field selection so late that crop becomes your only option. Broken gliders sends everyone insurance up.
@@finn4aviation320 No. But I want to be a real airliner pilot. When I'm 14 which I almost am, I can try and get my gliding license so then I maybe will know something about gliding! 😂

That didn't look too bad at all. Most of the energy was dissipated while still straight. The flare on top of the grass looked good. Well handled!
Thanks for your positive reaction!
That didn't look too bad. Energy mostly dissipated before yaw that probably didn't dig tail into ground.

Never heard that one before.
(I'm joking too)

@@Dalboe why didn’t you outlanded a bit further? 100m ahead looks like a short grasland. Much easier to retrieve the glider.

풀밭에서 저항에 비행기가 뒤집어졌을수도 있어서 위험했네요. 다치지 않아 다행입니다. Thank you for sharing this video.

Wouldn t have been better to fly a bit more ahead avoiding high flower field..? The next field seems to be more suitable
It does look like an emergency landing.
Julian Timmer it isn`t
@@jakobnrlem4239 but why should you land in a cornfield or something then?

@@flyingdutchman_NL landing in fields is a Tuesday for glider pilots. We are trained specifically for it. It's not an emergency. It's the norm.

Glider OK?
Some stones made scars in the fuselage and wings, but not anymore else.
I ground looped today....fucking scary
WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY??????? My flowers WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???????? TATTISPALA!!!
YOU GOT A HOLE IN YOUR LEFT WING
Do you offer to pay for damage crop
ER FLYVEREN OK ELLER HVAD???
jA!1!
that was a fail?
Not at all.More of a textbook landing in high crops. Ground loop in that speed won't damage the plane.
1:18 ooooooooo you crashed
Not really a ground loop!
What would you call it :)
Here from daily dose of internet
Très mauvais choix de terrain.
