I think apart from some minor flaws this line is one of the best thought-through subthemes LEGO has launched in some time. The compatibility with Minifigure scale is great and although the play functions are clearly aimed at children I find the overall design mature and funky enough to be at least tempting for AFOLs.
I love how detailed all your reviews are, especially with the section where you explain each phase of the building process rather than just a speed build. The set looks amazing! 😊
I find the scripting most impressive, because despite giving many details Balázs keeps his reviews concise and well-rounded without rambling or digressing unneccessarily.
Being able to give many details while being effective and short is great. And you also get his personal opinion. You experience part of the experience even without owning the set
Aside from the big technic cars, i haven't been this excited about other technic items. But these look absolutely fantastic! I'm definitely picking these up whenever i can
If you're looking for technic sets to get excited about, I'm afraid Lego is the worst option. Other companies like Cada and Mould King produce equal to better sets (e.g. compare Lego's Liebherr LR13000 to Mould King's LR13000: Lego: 700$, 1m, 2883 pieces, app required Mould King: 200$, 2.25m, 4318 pieces, physical remote) for about 30-50% of Lego's prices, most large sets like cranes or cars being fully remote controlled and more functional (usually due to not having clutch gears, though with cranes clutch gears are rarely needed since they'll fall over due to their counterweight being too light before the motors have any kind of difficulties, at least that's the case for my LR13000 (Mould King) since its counterweight is too low, meaning if you add counterweight, it will lift like 3kg before toppling over to the side, since loads effectively make cranes behave like the load's weight is on the pulley the rope for the hook goes over)
Great thing you bring up the lego figure compatibility with these sets! As someone who likes to play with kids with the figures, it is an important prospect.
Excellent review video, as always! And another cool addition to the Space line-up for Technic fans. The small space loader is my favourite from the two. Overall a great parts pack and highly playable bunch of sets. These sets remind me fondly of the golden age of Technic, where LEGO didn't have to rely on licenses and good looks to sell a set. Hope these sets will sell so well that we'll see more like this in the future. I'm pretty fed up with half-baked interpretations of modern cars with basic Racers functions.
All of the Technic Space sets are really great. I’m all about functions and these really show me that. In the exploration rover, 1:45 no shock absorbers. I wish Lego could somehow include that
I'm an italian fan of your presentations, thanks a lot four clarity and competence ! I love space in general and I think that the last models are wonderful , especially the ROVER!
The three sets together look amazing. This is a great theme. I’m considering these for my collection although I’m more of a car collector, speed champions and technic vehicles. But again these look amazing. Thank you for al your reviews of the march wave.
I don't mean to be rude, but the chairs at 3:31 are the wrong way around. The thicker, grey parts of the chair are supposed to be the back rest that when rotated to the blue tile, they can be turned into beds.
Thanks, it was a mistake on my side. The folding functionality makes sense, although using a modified 2x2 tile with 2 studs instead of the simple 2x2 tile could have improved the minifigure compatibility significantly both as a chair and as a bed.
These are fun/functional sets. V TOL is still the best value, and advanced build though I like the Exploration Rover best. Thanks for including the segment about minifigure compatibility. Very rare a Technic sets allows for minifigure playability and it's nice to see it here given how large the vehicle is.
Maybe aimed at kids, but as a moon landing and early classis space collector Im definitely getting all three. I already have the space loader and it is so fun and fits good into the scale set by the 928 remake edition
Another great video as always! I just heard about news that the next confirmed 4x4 Lego technic set for 2024 is indeed the 42177 Mercedes G500 4x4. It is expected to be similar to the Land Rover Defender. I cannot wait for this set, definitely buying it in August! Keep up the great work!
I love space and lego technic so I'm definitely buying the small rover and the spaceship! The large rover has too many specific part I wouldn't use anywhere else and it looks the least sci-fi of the bunch imo. I hope lego releases more sets like these in the future! They look great, and have some nice functions in them too
That rear suspension would probably be better as swing axles rather than pendular. It'd make both sides independent so it could traverse obstacles with all wheels on the ground, while remaining upright. Should be enough pieces in the set to make this modification I think.
On the Surface Space Loader, towards the beginning of the build, there is a red technic pin with stud connection on the left side in the middle of the vehicle. When the model is completed it's just behind the "shoulder" where the front left wheel arm meets the chassis. It seems to serve no purpose and I have been scratching my head as to why it's there to begin with
Usually such pieces are used to guide the builder and avoid misplacing other parts. In step 53 there is a verification image that shows you where the axle should go, the half pin helps with positioning.
@@RacingBrick ah, thank you, sir! I'm new to Technic. I got the 42000 Grand Prize Racer when I was a kid and it was so complicated I gave up on it towards the end of the build. Just recently I tore it back apart and finished it, eleven years after I got it
As mentioned before, I would have preferred that the set would have been more focused on interesting and playable functions than cargo lifting with the boring crane.
Apart from the rear pickup has anyone ever noticed that the cargo of the little set actually has a "safe lock" option to carry the cargo on its back if its in its lowered state?
As a collector who likes his sets to be Minifig-compatible, 42180 really confuses me: crew section and airlock say minifig size, cargo and everything else say not minifig size. Therefore, the set is least prority in this year's space lineup (definitely won't get the earth&moon, Duplo and classic space-branded sets).
I always have product links in the description and in the pinned comment for this purpose, easily accessible. I could list like 5-6 currencies, but I think it is better this way.
For the crate: I removed a black pin from one of the dark gray beams and put it down in a hole on the back of the small rover. That way, the crate can be attached like a backpack on the vehicle without the need for the small strange liftarm.
Hate to be a buzzkill but I'm kinda neutral on these. From the empty portal axles to the features that kinda seem squashed together. I'm yearning for something a bit more playable and perhaps motorized.
Every single youtuber is complaining about the chairs, I saw another complain about a lack of beds. THE CHAIRS FOLD DOWN TO BECOME BEDS, THAT'S WHY THEY'RE DESIGNED LIKE THAT.
I'm not sure shouting is necessary to express your opinion. The folding functionality makes sense, although using a modified 2x2 tile with 2 studs instead of the simple 2x2 tile could have improved the minifigure compatibility significantly both as a chair and as a bed.
@@dannybrezelhorner2715 some of past sets were great... Now they want to be display model but often they does not look good and also have poor functions. And no B models. And ridiculous price.

I absolutely agree with everything you wrote!
Even with their flaws these sets are fantastic parts packs and make me want to build my own better Technic space models.
These two are my least favorite Technic sets of the past 5 years
Yeah, I'm mixing in the rover into a mars mission set up

I'm right with you. I usually only mess with the 1:8/10 cars, but this whole line has been exciting.
The larger Grey tires could be used on a modern update for a Star Wars clone turbo tank
it would kind of big though, they would charge more than the 170 for play scale

This will be my first big technic set!!! I love that it is compatible with minifigures and has cool functions

Got the small rover set from my girlfriend today as a gift, took me two hours and thoroughly enjoyed it! ill be gunning for the vtol next.
Great review. I love this series, hope LEGO can bring more products like these.

Ok... The Exploration Rover is the best of all these Technic sets! Perfect expansion for Lego Space!!! :)
I really like addition of the hubcaps, maybe that will translate to flagship Technic super cars in the future.
there meant to be accurate, if the supercars dont have them lego technic wont, they were meant for brake discs on technic motorcycles
Brilliant review! Cheers!
I think I'll pass on the Big Rover, but I'll definitely take the loader. It's just so cute, and it has nice functionality with the VTOL!

I wish they had used the tractor tyres for this instead of the same old ones we've had for ages, regardless of the new colour.
I love these! A new classic in the making...
The big rover that you showcase.I'm getting and I already have the small rover And I'm also getting the VTOL For my birthday
Apart from the rear pickup has anyone ever noticed that the cargo of the little set actually has a "safe lock" option to carry the cargo on its back if its in its lowered state?
Which would you recommend- surface space loader/john Deere forage harvester/Mack garbage truck
I just finished 42181 thinking I was finally done with my Lego theme set until I saw this
I have been assigned once another mission
We need the big one in snowrunner
Very cool sets!

Maybe the seats around the table aren't normal seats so they can fold down and be used as beds?
Have I been desensitized to lego prices with all the big sets I buy or is the price of the smaller set really good for what you get?
Love all your videos. Would you consider including GBP pricing in future videos? Love from UK 🇬🇧

@@RacingBrick no worries, just thought it might save a click to have the biggest currency in the world. Thanks as always for your videos
Where can I get some space men?
Please could somebody can make alternative model with the cargo space
Will you be covering space sets from other themes?
I will do another video about the cross-theme compatibility with other space sets

All i could think is why lego never made star wars ships in technic. Turbo tank and walkers would be amazing!!!
So …the big rover has no motors ?
None of the space sets are motorized
This one reminds me the movie Martian.
nice
Can you improve this model somehow? Like motorizing it? Something seems lacking.
I don't think it needs motorization, it's a fun playset for kids, together with the others
I've just brought the surface loader and find the crane is utterly useless.

7:04 Not good. Wtf can't they make it better? Always the same problem.
7:14 Very very bad. I made better whan I was a child using only a 744 set.

It would be soooo easy to replicate the REAL Martian lander, don't you think?
I just can't bring myself to like this lego line.😒 Lego won't get my money this year.😅
Same for me. I really don't like latest technic set...
I've never liked Technic it just looks.. ugly to me

First 🎉🎉🎉
Thirs hammer haha
early
Both of them is not are the best sets, i dont like them, some kind of disorganised ideas holding together, the larger one is too weird and ugly
Stopped every kid from being the first comment.
Can we get a W chain?
No.
no.
