Nice video, thanks! One thing I'd like to add is to put trumpets and trombones in separate sections, rather than have one big brass section. I know this is the Sibelius default, but to me a score is easier to read when there's a clear visual separation between the two sections.
Another really great and helpful video Elliot. This is something I have been giving a lot of thought to recently since I want to engrave my own material and some old handwritten stuff. It's interesting that most of the major publishers still provide landscape scores with arrangement which do have very small staves and text - I guess it just comes down to cost and the practicality of providing something that is just about usable. Thanks once again!
Thank you Elliot for doing these videos, they are so good and informative!!! One quick thing. It's really hard to see your pointer and follow where you are in the ribbon. If you have a way to highlight the pointer that would be much easier to follow your instructions.
Unfortunately it’s not visible what you exactly do with the Menus and dialogues. The result just suddenly appears on the screen. it seems that you have those dialogues on the second display.
Great tutorial. How do I change instrument groups, like if I wanted to add an extra soprano sax part, or if the bari sax was grouped with the brass by mistake and I wanted to group it with the saxes where it should be?
Nice video! Have you considered making templates for each type of band you write for (bigband, combo, ...)? Then a lot of these settings are already as desired by default :)

Great tip! I got that same feedback from Darcy James Argue. I will eventually do a follow up to this video with some revisions.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Music publishers have different priorities than arrangers.
These videos are one of the best parts of my Fridays
Thank you! Finally finishing them and getting them uploaded is the best part of my thursdays!
Thanks, Elliot!

Sorry about that. I agree. My pointer was actually invisible! I definitely have some technical things to figure out.
Thanks so much for sharing! Can't wait for the next video on formatting parts
Glad I could help!
Have subbed!
Great, not too much laughing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Thanks. I would add large measure numbers at the bottom of the score, centered under each measure.
That’s a good tip. I do that sometimes… but it’s probably a good habit to always have those numbers in the score.
Thank you for the great walkthrough!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really great , thx for sharing. I’m long time Sibelius user, thinking of cross grade to Dorico, on the fence so far…
Cheers from Poland
Thanks for watching! I did the Dorico cross grade, so I own both. But I have yet to learn to use Dorico.

How did you found work in this field of writing for Big Bands?(it's a big question I know, but it's interesting for me)

Yes I have. But I strangely really enjoy the process of cleaning up my sheet music.
What keys are you pressing to make the measures four per page or a different number of measures(6)?
First select all of the measures. Then press "option + shift + m". This only works in Sibelius.
Four scores and seven measures ago...
Haha!
