Okayu was definitely the right person for her to go and talk to, since I get the feeling they're both fairly individualistic, just in vastly different ways. Okayu would have a better idea than most how to help Mio find her place.
I just memorized the quotes.... "Mio is Miso Soup. If everyone else in hololive are foods like ginger pork or curry, the types of food that have heavy flavorings, Mio is Miso Soup. Even though you might not be that flavorful, you drink it once in a while to feel confortable. That type of existence isn't bad, right?". - Nekomata Okayu "I'll start running again in my own way, even though the pace might not be the fastest and may not be the best one, but I'll keep running". - Ookami Mio
@@piotr004 I really love this quote since I'm also a miso soup.... I'm the type of person who doesn't/can't join the game and only watch my friends play mobile games/sports but I'm still their friend no matter what coz I am good in my own way and they know it...
@@Strlz_Remtachi Good for you, I mean, I kinda understand, because I am not very active in social life too (you know, introvert) and I was good at various things all my life (for example: I have master's degree in Mathematics, but I work as a freelance-translator right now, so I can't say I am 100% science type person or 100% arts type person.
This is like the time when Fubuki confessed she broke down. Even Suisei took a five day break. While I wish people do need to know about the amount of stress on the Vtubers, I also wish Vtubers themselves know that even other Vtubers can let out and cry.
Suisei said it perfectly. "You have to take care of yourself, doesn't matter what others say. They are not going to pay your medical bills when things go wrong".
Yes, that's the most important thing. Take care of yourself. From what I looked, the community in VTubers is one of my favorite. We care about them, we want them to take a rest if they're tired, but sometimes they just push themselves to makes us smile. I hope they know that their healthy is the priority, and I don't even care if they just streamed like three times in a week instead of doing it everyday, or at least they don't stream like 12 hours everyday, 4-8 hours sure is more than enough. (and I'm really sure the majority of this community don't really mind). Some of them even drink red bull or other energy drink to stay energetic (I only knows Aqua who did that, but maybe the others did that as well).
jellyman These vtuber usually stream everyday with Sunday as their only break. Every stream would be at least one hour but a majority are usually three to four hours long. But that's from our perspective. Preparing what to stream like discussing what kind of game they want to play, setting the stream up, these take more time that we don't see. Newer vtubers with smaller fan bases would be stressed as they won't be getting as many people to donate to them, which means less capital and would pressure them into giving up vtubing. Larger vtubers with large fan bases have now more people they can't fail to entertain. I believe it is also due to the Japanese culture of people not wanting to be burden to others. Let's not forget not everyone would like them. Hate speech and tweets would be sent to them everyday for each stream, especially for larger vtubers Though, here in Mio's case, she wants to be special in an agency where everyone to her seems to be sparkling bright while she is very plain. She, in addition to the above points would feel stressed as she feels like she is in their shadow. TLDR: This is just an educated guess but Mio feel pressured by a combination of expectations from the fans, haters and her own perception of herself
Shes not small at all, even among hololive, but watching everyone rise like crazy, like Korone, sure makes it look like shes left behind since they started the same. imo she has nothing to be afraid of in terms of not growing anymore, and fills the "chill" streams many others dont do much.
The original stream was in December of 2019. During this time 3rd gen was exploding in popularity and Mio probably felt extra pressured because of that. Also remember that a lot of subs to hololive members are people who support hololive entirely, this means that a lot of subs don't end up watching her content.
@@Yoyuu this is purely my own speculation, but I see she is part of the hololive Gamers, maybe she also feels she isn't doing enough compared to the likes of Korone and Fubuki?
Now imagine how someone like Kurea Kamishiro felt when her one "sister" Suzuhara Lulu became one of the biggest names in Nijisanji ever and the other one Sephira Su was at 30k subs while she was stuck under 10k for over a year. I always feel bad for the people who are "left behind" so to speak but it's part of the struggle. I'll always try to support the underdogs, but Mio definitely isn't an underdog. She's doing well for herself. Just getting into Hololive is a huge achievement.
i mean, i couldve easily said "shes the moon that lights up particularly nicely now and then due to the reflection from the sun's light" but that doesnt exactly have as nice of a ring to it
Its because its the simple things you always love. It stays with you in the start and trough the end. Something that wont leave your side. Damn i am putting too much into this.
Damn I started crying at that part (Also as much as possible In Japanese restaurants or such I order miso soup as a side dish if possible cause I REALLY LOVE MISO SOUP MISO SOUP IMPORTANT MIO-SAN IS IMPORTANT TvT)
Translating these side of vtubers really is something we needed. Many featured and translated clips of vtubers are them doing fun things, collabs, being teetee, etc etc. Solemn moments like these are quite scarce and rare to be found translated. It's easy to forget there's a human being behind their digital representation. Thank you
I do wish more of these types of clips exists, but it is a lot harder to make as you need to clip specific moments to make it flow relatively nicely and be more careful with word choice as it can easily cause issues. I do hope more people do them though, but these moments are rare as they usually don't show these side to viewers.
It's not like they show the "weak" side all the time. It's because they are streaming so much and exposed directly to the audience that they spills their emotional side once in a while.
It's these kind of clips that hook me into them. I don't want to support idols, I want to support girls who are trying their best in this vtuber hell. It's how I got into Korone and Ars.
The happy end of this sad story is: After this, Okayu, Korone, Fubuki, Ayame, Mio and Subaru went to the legendary hot spring trip, not only forming the amazing combo-unit of OKFAMS (Consisting of FAMS and the Gamers united) but also getting her mind off of things. The aftertalk got uploaded on her channel, wich was not only a huge relief to her fans but also a smart move vtubing wise on the girls part. Eversince then, Mio has continued to walk at her own pace. She also broke out of her usual pattern though, playing games a bit more exciting as much as the ones she already loved. Wich made her much easier to clip + translate, again, also a good move on the vtubing side of things. All that combined Mio almost doubled her subs on youtube since then, and while on that topic, you should consider subscribing to her too. She's really amazing to listen to, no matter if she sings... ... or trying to brush Taiga PVE PS.: Still waiting on that one horse racing game to get ported to the Switch. C'mon Nintendo.

"My time is limitless, so I must treasure this limited time" Vtubers are just human like us, they have been through a lot of hard times, but in the end, they still try to put a smile on our face. Who know when our favorite vtubers will disappeared... So it is important to gave them the support they deserved. Thanks Yoyuu, for this heartfelt translation, for letting us know about the hidden side of vtubers.
Putting on a smile is what an idol does, it's what they are supposed to do. Mio is my ideal idol who can help enlighten ppl, which is what an idol should do is what I think. There's a video about mio saying hololive already have loose cannon like fubuki, korone and okayu that's why she thought of being the straight girl and it's really suits her style in my opinion.
Dude this was what i was thinking, i just wanted to give this girl a hug and say that everyrhing was alright that everybody loves her work etc. Or at least be able to contact one of her friend in hololive and say to them "Go to her home and give her a hug RIGHT NOW!" Well, just hope that she is feeling better, seens like neeing a vtuber cam be as stressfull as any other job.
When I introduced my circle of friends to this world, I eventually pointed out that "Mio's like a GM" (a mass-produced mobile suit from Gundam); her lack of a distinctive feature is her distinctive feature. In the midst of all the madness, crazy antics, screaming and outrageous perversion, Mio's always there, a normal, adorable girl doing normal, adorable things. And there's people who'll love her for exactly that. While she may have wanted to be more like her less-than-normal friends (almost half a year later, idk if it's still the same), I personally think that this simple, caring Mio is very appreciated, even needed at times, and absolutely irreplaceable. Okayu knows that as well. For her sake, and for the sake of all of her fans, I hope she's found her new spark.
Not to downplay the GM, but every member of Hololive deserves to be a Gundam. Mio can be one of the more general purpose suits as opposed to the specialized ones. :)
@@ketsuekikira1635 I was thinking of the Stargazer instead for Suisei. Aside from the name, the Voiture Lumiere Propulsion System allows the Stargazer to build up speed over time as it travels between planets (as the original purpose of the suit is to explore beyond Mars). I get where you're coming from choosing the Throne Zwei or the Arche Gundam that Ali pilots, and I think the Stargazer can also do that using its beam capture ability and create a field of shootable beam cutters around it instead of having a giant sword. But you could just give the Stargazer the GN Buster Sword as well. I agree that the Gundam MK-II (Titans ver.) works for Mio, but I also wonder if there's another MS that would suit her better. I'm thinking BuCUE, Nether Gundam, or Gundam Tryon 3 for Korone. Ayame would be the Sengoku Astray. I'm not sure if it would suit her but Sora could be the TR-6 [Queenly] or [Queenly] Full Armor Form. Roboco could be the Command Gundam, Dynames/Cherudim, or the S/Ex-S...? Matsuri can be the Fenice since it's the only Gundam I've seen blushing lol. Haachama can have the Jumping Gundam I guess.
It becomes easy to lose your identity to suit another lifestyle. Hope she doesn't sell the world. That miso soup analogy was brilliant, Okayu is amazing.
It's a good thing she took it well though. I could see a lot of people getting offended by someone telling them they're the equivalent of chicken soup.
In commemoration of Mio reaching 1M subscribers today, I've come back to this monumental clip that played the biggest role in my becoming a Miofa and Holofan. Around three months after this moment was clipped, I discovered Hololive and Vtubing on the whole. Within a couple weeks of seeing this clip, Mio became the first Holomember whose stream I watched live and in its entirety. Especially after my first karaoke stream of hers, she immediately was established as my favorite and has been so for the almost 1.5 years I've known her. She worried that people who saw her for the first time in a moment like this would be detrimental to her. I was immediately attracted to the down-to-earth transparency she provided here, the feeling that her concerns were relatable to my own in some ways and so I could empathize, and also the underdog story. As she's crossed many milestones since, I've thought about this conversation and I know Mio referred to it time-to-time over the years too. It brings me much joy to think about how she's readjusted herself, her perspective of her growth, and the way she treats herself as a streamer. These days it seems she's come to terms with the fact that she isn't as explosive as some of her peers and is much more at ease with being a streamer who people come to for her relaxed and comforting vibes. Seeing her allow herself breaks, lean on her fellow Holomem and management more, and seemingly become more true to herself as time has gone on has been outstanding. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to her that she decided to follow through the "miso soup" path. In a chaotic world, and even in the wildly changing sphere of Vtubing itself, being able to unwind in Mio's streams and enjoy her singing, laughter, and overall aura is really a godsend. As it stands, the world is blessed that Mio did not give in and has pushed through her own self-judgement and the unfortunate slowness of her growth. Now that she's made it to 1 million subs and come this far, I hope she can truly put the feelings she expressed back then in this clip behind her. She's more than demonstrated her value between her perseverance, the levels of cozy she often provides, and the fantastic shows she's put on in multiple Hololive festivals at this point too. I'm infinitely proud of her, happy with the content she provides, and will loyally follow her for as long as I can as a Miofa!
I often drop by to Mio's stream to relax. She's not like the others who are often loud so I can listen in peace. She's fine as she is right now. Also she probably needs a break. Streaming is very tiring, having to constantly entertain the viewers is not easy. Last thing is try to say words of encouragement when you drop by. A simple "thank you" is fine.
"VTubers can't cry because their models don't have it implemented" - Wrong! 0:00 Something is weighing on her chest 2:23 she's definitely sad ~3:00 begins crying 3:40 begins tearing up 4:51 she voices her deepest insecurities (regarding her channel, following, etc..) 7:41 it gets worse ~9:14 full on crying I don't know about you, but she definitely doesn't sound happy here. I'm glad that she didn't decide to bottle up her feelings and hide for too long. This was probbably the best thing that she could've done. I hope we get to enjoy more Mio soup for months to come.
That is the thing tho, we love mio because she is that person that bring comfort and peace to us, it feels as if she is always there to help you in your problems, always there to look out for you, that kind of affection is what i belive makes mio shine bright.....everyone in hololive shines in their own way...like being a "miso soup" is unique to her and its not a bad thing either......It is hard tho to be consistent so if necessary i hope she just goes for like a break for a week or so.... We'll always be here to love mio the Mother of Hololive....... Aight i'm done, that was just some depressing shit so yeh..
The hard thing about being the 'mother' though, just like mothers, is that their love isn't always returned. She always comforts others, but will others comfort her to the same degree? Hopefully she gets the support she deserves.
This is why we love hololive idols so much. The human connection. Unlike what you get with regular idols as abnormal and weird as they are, you don't just get fulfilment from worshipping some idol figure (or I guess "simping" is the word for that). You feel a genuine connection on a personal level with them seeing them grow and being with them through their journey that sadly won't last forever, but we'll all look back on them as fond memories akin to the memories we have with a good friend. They're weird quirks and fun content, things they struggled or still dealing with, and them just genuinely having fun with each other fills me with joy and at moments like this when they open up to us is one of the most fulfilling because it means they trust us enough to share their doubts and worries. I love Vtubers for this very reason and I will continue to support them anyway I can for as long as I can. Sorry for the long babbling I got emotional...
No problem, I think you put it very nicely. The personal connection is a big piece of what makes them appealing. Which is why I love talking streams so much.
@@Yoyuu by the by, You and all the other translators deserve a lot of credit. We foreign viewers wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for the translations. Thank you 🙏
Is it weird when whenever I think back on the Hololive Idols, I feel like I'm having a 1-way friendship with them? Like, they won't know (or will ever know) who I am, but for some reason, I know and accept them for what they are, as if we've been long time friends.
"If everyone can watch over me, I'll be very happy." Damn you wolf. It's too much of an understatement. Personally as someone who love vtuber and inspired much from them, if we can do more than just watching, we may gladly accept it May the best with all those vtubers, for that they have given us happiness; it's just fair for them to be happy 🙏🙏
We should not take VTubers for granted. Just as any person, they need to be reminded that they're important for us and that we didn't forget about them. We don't know when they might leave us, so we should enjoy them while we still can and support them. TnT
I hope Mio has friends who always accept her regardless who she is in real life, because that's how I coped with mine.... by becoming myself only with them and trust them more than anything, because sometime even people and family members can be too judgemental towards certain things... sometimes it's good, but sometimes it's exhausting

Then they starting to begone one by one. that's really hurting my feeling. Then when i became a colleger, i starting to "do what i want to do, be what i want to be." I can’t be the only one who orders more than one miso soup bowl whenever I eat at restaurants, right? There’s just something about them that’s simple yet really satisfying. But man, this really hits home. I’ve been in similar situations in the past, but it really is best to just go on your own pace. Still try to improve, but also have fun while doing it. Breaks my heart to see Mio cry. I’ll always enjoy watching her streams. It’s the least I can do to show my support for this venerable wolf.
I really do hope this video gets a bit of attention, since this kind of thing exists in the community. There are probably many cases that we arent even aware of how these people try their to stay, relevant or entertaining to their audiences and to put it colloquially "stay on that grind". A small number of cases where a Vtuber is experiencing issues like this or of a different caliber that keep them back from accomplishing what they want, or to just stay in a good mental state and not get burnt out do pop into mind, however they're quite small and dont really get talked about. I don't think people believe that Vtubers cant cry, rather they dont realise how much they can cry or how much they can be impacted and affected on their psychological well being. Nonetheless thank you for making this and shedding some light, I hope this gets more recognised in the fandom.
Well, it is up to youtube analytics on how much it wants to promote the video. I've done what I could to make it flow nicely. I do hope that more people are prepared when the time comes, I myself have already seen a couple graduated myself, and every time it has been filled with regret for not giving them more attention when I had the opporunity.
@@ghostlygardener5644 It definitely does and I was considering mentioning that, but my point was to illustrate that these untouchable entertainment forces are people at the end of the day, and people are always bound by conflict. It just seemed like an even smaller amount of people dont recognise that Vtubers are in fact able to be brought down by problems in their work and personal life.
And all her feelings are hidden behind that smile, It's scary what a smile can hide. They are such a hardworking People so please support them as you can.
I'm so proud of how far Mio has come. From being full of doubt and lacking in confidence, she's managed to find her own place and now seems so much for comfortable, like she's managed to find exactly the right role for herself, and has gained the confidence to trust the her fans will be with her if she just does things her own way. She now has a million subs, and her fanbase is bigger than ever. Her morning streams, for example, peak at like 15k viewers, when even a few months ago it was more like 10k. She's such a feel-good story, and deserves all her success.
The idea of a "perfect idol" (doesn't cry, doesn't have a boyfriend, doesn't show any negative emotion, always has to be happy and energetic) is something I've always rejected. I find it extremely shallow. Living off entertaining people is the perfect opportunity for the entertainer to also show vulnerability, their fears and their deepest thoughts, it is a great way to engage with your audience because it's assured that they will feel related to what the entertainer is going through and there's a feedback between these two parts. We can see it here, we are all rooting and supporting Mio, this sweet girl who's been there for us when things get tough, now we are here for her. I think Mio's comparing herself too much to her fellow Holos, and that's normal. In every work environment it's impossible to not look at yourself and then look at others to see and think "What can I do better to achieve being where this other person is?" Which I feel like that's how Mio feels when seeing members like Pekora just getting so much popularity. Or Korone, who's been growing insanely fast these last couple of months. But what I believe is that, even if what you have might not be enough for you, (like how Mio doesn't feel sure about being "Miso soup"), whether you like it or not, you can't change that, but the magic about it is that it's yours and only yours, and you can do with it whatever you want. You can just accept that you are Miso soup and stay like that forever, or you can be like Mio and, instead of trying to become something else, she's willing to become a BETTER and more delicious Miso soup! Because, just as what happened with Mio before, if you try so hard to become something else, you are just gonna end up losing yourself. Your true self. And I don't know about you guys, but I will be rooting for her, checking on her streams, and seeing her growing as a streamer and as a human being.
Bro sometimes i think a lot of sweet comment like this need to be send directly to the person in question... sometimes i just feel soo touched looking at all this comment but then i realized, the probability of mio even know we are cherishing her here are slim... its sad

That’s why I love hololive, all their anti-idol qualities, their unique characteristics and flaws. An idol agency that’s full of weirdos that love to joke around and have a mutual relationship with their viewers instead of preforming on a stage with a facade, then disappearing behind the curtains until the next act. It doesn’t matter what food they are. Miso, udon, dollar store ramen, pork, as long as their true to themselves we’ll support them through thick and thin
I can only imagine what smaller VTubers who have been working just as hard but never got picked up by the algorithm and are fighting an uphill battle everyday against TH-cam's random bans and refusal to push out their stream notifications and schedules into sub boxes must feel.
That makes me remember one vtuber who apparently has model designed by the legend asanagi sensei, last time i checked he has around 6k subs and i catch one of his stream and only 6 people watching.
This is like watching your beloved Mother or caring Big sister cry. Someone who you look up to, takes care & brings comfort, and gives you joy and smiles-- break down and cry, pouring out their bottled up feelings with tears falling from their starry eyes. It's heartbreaking to see. Mio, her fellow Hololive peers, and all VTubers... we don't deserve them at all. For them to bring entertainment and joy to all of us watching them from different places across the world, even transcending language barriers to make everyone feel included; they're outright legends in that regard. I'm very glad to stumble upon the rabbit hole of Vtubers and discover these heartwarming people. And I am very happy to be here to give all kinds of support and love to them while they're still here. I'm born in the right generation to co-exist with these lovely idols.
The reason why I like Mio stream is simple, it is calming and relaxed, while it is nice to feel happy energetic and just go around shouting, I also just like staying calm and relaxed, and there is a few in Holo which can consistently provide me with that calm feeling, and Mio is one of them
Mio, I believe Okayu was trying to say that you're one of the foundations of Hololive. You're the one who is in the back making things work. When people get knocked down, you pick them up and support them. When people can't take anymore, you hold their hand and help them face it. You may not be a main character, but every main character needs someone there to keep them moving. To keep them from breaking or running away when things get tough. We may have even lost Miko if not for your help. You're a vital part of Hololive. The English Community sees you as a Mother, not as someone who birthed these kids, but as someone with the love and patience of a mother. We see it as a badge of honor and the other members have noticed it as well. If you feel tired, take the day off. If you're still feeling tired, take a few more. If you want to collab with others, just say the word. What we dont' want, Mio, is for you to suffer alone. I personally think you shine the greatest, when you're with others.
yes as suisei once said too, its very important to them to catch a break, but, that doesnt mean they can easily rest too, because the new problem arise, "is it okay to me to catch a break?" "i dont want to be forgotten" " everyone will left me behind" this problem rise and worry her and resulting her cannot catch a break at all, actually as coco once said, hololive house is needed to help them like this, atleast after stream she have someone to talked to
I believe the answer: "you are a miso soup" was not the one she wanted, or more like, was not the answer Mio needed at the time. Probably she was comparing herself to other hololive members, finding in each one something the shine, but finding none on herself. That's why she worked hard in order to be a pork dish, because she wanted to shine like them. However, telling her she is a miso soup, even though acknowledging she is important for everyone in hololive, also implies that she won't be more that something to accompany the main dish. Like setting a limit to what she can accomplish. So she resigned to that answer and now tries to become a delicius miso soup, I feel that THAT decision is more hurting than what she felt before. Her fans may know in which aspects she is best, but that's not enough for her, we must tell her in every means possible and make her feel that she also shines like every other member or even more, in order to help her in her problems, even if just a bit.
I agree with you because we are from the west, but according to my Japanese friends from Nagoya miso soup is more important than a main dish in everyday life for almost all japanese people, so I do think her friend word are in the right way and help her a lot considering this stream was from 5 months ago.
Nothing wrong with recognising your own strength and hone that strength to the next level. This is actually a good reset for mio, she can now refocus on what makes her special. What I got from okayu methaphor of mio chan being a miso soup is, that mio is like the esssential parts of the hololive family, she's always there whenever anyone needs her. From what I understand miso soup is a comfort dish that is almost always in the Japanese daily menu. I think okayu just want to highlight how important mio is to the hololive family, her charm is her calmness. She's just tired of trying to be like the other quirky characters without realising probably half of her subs count are the result of the charm that is unique specifically to her, and half of them is from her hardwork. Anyway. What she's trying to do now is probably the best decision she could make.. Be the best miso soup out there. Okayu is such a cool person. I wish everyone has a frienship like they do.
I disagree I think saying *_"You are like Miso Soup"_* is *exactly* the answer she needed and maybe not the answer she wanted. For one thing, with a situation like Hololive, where so many different people bring so many unique energies/characters to entertain people, there'll always be members who feel they're lagging behind or not doing enough. *_Exactly what Mio is feeling right now._* But the most important thing to remember is, you can only be who you are. Trying to grow or even reinvent yourself in ways not authentic to you, will never work. And everyone will see you're not being you. Because you can't be something you're not. If you're not a Pork Dish, *_then you can't be a Pork Dish._* And trying against everything to be a Pork Dish, only makes a flavorless meal. If your desires is to shine, you have to find a way to shine that's authentic to you. Telling Mio that is nothing like suggesting she can *only* accompany the Main Dish and that limits what she can accomplish. Telling Mio that is to offer a different perspective on what she's feeling. *_"So you don't feel you're wacky or energetic like everyone else. Is that really bad though?"_* Does Mio *NEED* to be a meme like Korone or Miko, Haachama or Kiryu? And the answer is no. She doesn't need to be and she shouldn't. Every Hololive Member fits a niche that someone out there likes, including Mio. And while I can't say what the best thing for her to do is, I can say that comparing herself to her friends and coworkers will never be the best thing for her to do. Lastly I'll say this - No Chef has ever said becoming the best of *_ANY_* dish is a hindrance. Even Gordon Ramsay will appreciate the best Miso Soup over 6 really good Pork Dishes.
I've always liked Mio, even though I don't frequent streams or watch archives that often if at all, I still go out of my way to watch Mio clips because she's one of the most sincere and honest vtubers I've seen. It hits home even harder since she's relatable in that regard, being surrounded by amazing people that simply outshine you is really really hard since it makes you feel like you are at fault for underperforming... But I don't think she's the obligatory condiment for all meals, I see her like the rest of the members, a star in her own way~ And hey, if it means anything I'm just some guy from some island in the Caribbean, for me Miso soup is an expensive and delicious soup that always brings a smile to my face whenever I have it!
Okayu put it perfectly, Mio is at her best when together with other Holomembers. Her caring attitude and blessed giggles just make a perfect addition to other members.
Okayu's comment about Mio being like Miso Soup really got me right in the heart. Miso might not be the most exciting or exotic of foods, but it's a pallet cleanser. It's something comfortable and familiar to return to. Like the feeling of coming home after a long day out and just feeling safe and accepted. Mio may not be the star that burns the brightest, but that warm, soft, comforting light will never diminish.
I love the fact that Okayu is such a kind person to talk to when you feel down. Thank you so much for sharing this important video. I hope people finally understand that even though these VTubers may only show an energetic side doesn't mean they're not hiding their true feeling. They are human, just like us.
Clips like these are rare and has big value because sometimes there are just times that they can talk about these types of feelings on stream and makes you remember that even though they always seem like this, they get sad and pressured as well. Pressure is always there when you have this type of passion and job where you can see your ifluence and how well you are doing, it takes a toll on your mental as well. As long as she's doing well, then we should continue to support them. Thank you as always for giving us these translations!
Videos like this are the reason why I enjoy watching many vtubers, such as Mio, more than most other entertainment on TH-cam. It's difficult to put into words, but... when you watch a clip or stream of Mio, especially after watching this video, don't you feel like you're watching a real, genuine person, rather than a person acting as a character? And Mio is very likeable, too. It's more complicated than that, though. For example, I enjoy watching Pekora, who often acts as a "smug rabbit". She is acting as a character, and yet... after you watch enough clips of her, you can tell that Pekora is a lot more than just a smug rabbit. There is a clip of Pekora giving genuine advice to a fan and talking openly about things that worry her: that clip shows us the real Pekora. Recently she played a purely-RNG minigame in Dragon Quest V for 9 hours until she cleared it: that stream shows us the real Pekora. She is both genuine and a smug rabbit character. And while the smug rabbit makes me laugh, I think the real Pekora is very likeable, too. There are many other vtubers like this whom I enjoy watching. Some of them always seem to be their genuine selves; some of them act or exaggerate to be more entertaining or cute; sometimes I'm not sure when they're acting or being genuine, and I'm fine with it either way. It's difficult to explain, but in every case, I feel like they are a real, likeable person who might act or exaggerate sometimes, but overall they are their genuine selves. I enjoy watching them and I want to see them be successful and happy. Thank you Yoyuu for translating this. I can't speak Japanese, so the only reason I can enjoy so many vtubers is because of the work of translators like you. I never knew Mio felt this way until now. I will cheer for her even more from now on. I really enjoy the "Miso Soup" Mio but I hope she can find her "Spicy Pork" side, too! Thank you again for this video, Yoyuu.
Yeah, once you seen them long enough you'll learn which part is part of the character and which part is real. The reason why I do clips like this is out of hope that one day these more complex side can be shown in the English community as well.
7:56 - *_"Is Miso Soup really enough?"_* Yes. Not only is Miso Soup *_"enough"_* it can be exactly what someone *_needs_* on days the most. When I consider the insanely high energy most Hololive Streams have, there needs to be *_AT LEAST ONE_* I can go to that is chill, and warm, and comfy, *_AND LIKE A BOWL OF SOUP._* (Mama) Mio has always been that kind of stream I could go on autopilot and put in the background while I made my house in DQB. I wish I knew moonrunes a little more so I could tell her. We appreciate her *_"normalcy"_* more than she could ever know. I don't need another HL Pork Dish, I have enough to pick from, *_I would like_* some Soup, please.
This is for every other Hololive girls. Every single one of them: To quote a certain movie, "we are with you 'til the end of the line". It may be a marathon, it may be a sprint, it may be a leisurely jog or a mad dash to the finish line, you may decide where the finish line is, or some other circumstances may force that finish line on you, it doesn't matter. *We are with you 'til the end of the line.*
1:14 Yeah the fact that they can keep up streaming everyday is always so impressive to me. It must take a lot of work and effort in creating new content to entertain us.
Yeah, a lot of people think that all they do is play games for an hour a day, but there's actually a lot of prep work involved in being entertaining for an hour straight. Not to mention doing that on a daily basis.
As someone who is crazy about soup (I literally learned to cook so I can make my mom's soup recipe) I feel that Mio is underestimating herself too much. She's a wonderful, warm existence and I guess the hololive members and her fans would feel like they're incomplete without her. I wanna give all the love and support I can to this Mio fakking kyutto gyaru.
Behind the avatar, there is a real person, with real feelings and thoughts. I may be new to the VTuber world, I may not know any amount of Japanese that makes it so I can watch live and understand, but I don't watch because I can understand, I don't watch because of their avatars, I watch because the way they express themselves whether happy or sad or angry is real, and that makes them more genuine than most people on the Internet.
I understand Mio cause I was like her in the past. I was also hardworking to be recognized as someone important , but by the time it drained me a lot and some of my believes were eliminated by myself to satisfy someone else. I was lost and didn't know what to do more to be recognized by more people, causing me to have a lot of negative thoughts that could harm me if I didn't stop. Fortunately I speak about my worries with my friends and family and they support gave me the willpower to let somethings go in order to achieve true happiness. Nowadays I can't say for sure that I achieve true happiness because I think that will be come for many years to come, however I'm true to myself and I'm doing my work in my peace, and all the pressure and negative thoughts are long gone. I love Mio and will support her always. Sorry for my bad English.
Damn that hit me too close to home. Except that I choose to struggle myself and not seeking help from those around me. And guess what, living like this made me develop depression since 5 years ago.
@@Theodren Heard this way too much and now I don't believe it already. PEOPLE AROUND ME FUCKING ALWAYS FORCE ME TO ACT THEIR WAY AND IF I DON'T THEY FUCKING IGNORE ME, IF I WANNA BE MYSELF THEY DON'T FUCKING APPRECIATE IT. I'M SO FUCKING TIRED OF TRYING TO BE SANE AND BE GOOD.
@@benjapolsirihongsuwan6405 I hear you. I'm not the best at advice, but if the people around you don't appreciate you for being you, then perhaps it's time to find the people that do. Don't loose yourself. As Okayu suggest, let's try to be the best soup (or appropriate dish) that we can be - for our own sake.
Damn why I only found this now. It's enough to make a grown man cry. The music, the setting it's perfect and I know this is a past translated vid but I still feel like I wanna hug her and tell her she's doing her best and she doesn't need to do extra things to make her special because being her is what makes her special. I like Mio alot hopefully she comes back after the issuea. God bless
I remember watching this live, and I still remember it because it's one of the things that really hit me hard. It was difficult to even get through listening to it, but I did. I think this is huge wake-up call that, at the end of the day, our wonderful Holopro members are still normal people at the end of the day. It certainly was a wake-up call for me, when I first watched it. Everyone has their personal demons that they have to deal with. And Mio's personal demons hit too close to home for me. Something I'm all too familiar with. To carve out what makes yourself special is difficult, especially you see everybody else with brimming personalities. Looking yourself compared to them is disheartening and sad. It's easy to see them as "shining stars," as Mio says, and looking back at yourself, fully aware of all the flaws that you have. But at that moment, I sincerely wished that, she understood that she herself shines in her own way, even if she doesn't see it. Everybody has their little cracks, but that doesn't take away the specialty of oneself. And as for Holopro, every person shines in their own way, including Mio. As sad as this stream was, I was delighted to see that she seemed to be doing better and was ready for her anniversary on twitter. And, it might sound a little cheesy, but if Mio is the equivalent to miso soup, then I'll go to all miso soup stores in the world. --- Just so we don't end on a somber note, thank you for the translation! I know it's a compliment you may get a lot, and I suppose it might be something you hear far too much, but I really appreciate it. This is a particular stream that I don't think I'll ever forget, as this is a stream that I'm sympathetic to. I'm really glad to see that many others will be able to watch it, and with the help of a translation.
Thank you! This stream also means a lot to me, since it is a rare moment where one of them let down their guard and actually allowed us to share the burden with them. I kind of wish this type of clips exists more in the English community so we can start to appreciate them more than just being funny memes.
@@Yoyuu I found it really endearing (and courageous) of Mio to show us a side of her that some don't expect to see. It's a moment that I really appreciate as well. As for the clips, yeah, I would much appreciate some clips that show more than one side of the Holopro members. While funny clips are great, they only ever show one side to English-speaking community. I really appreciate clips like these, that show that the members are not just funny comedians. It shows that they're normal people, too.
I may have had the benefit of playing bass instruments(Trombone) in my childhood, and having learned that the bass line isn't anything flashy or exciting, but if it isn't there, the rest of the song tends to fall apart quickly. Of course, the nice thing about the Trombone in particular is that while it's considered bass, it can also stand in the forefront once in a while, and getting to play the melody is always a treat. Mio's a trombone. She works great as a foundation, but occasionally she can also be a star, and that's always a reward in itself.
I saw this video a while back and put it on my watch later list, I was bit scared to watch it. Glad I have. It’s hard when a lot of people rely on you for comfort in a terrible world, feeling obligated to put on a front and overwork yourself. You focus on others so much you forget yourself and might burn out. To help others you gotta help yourself first, and it’s ok to be you. people can be happy and make others happy at their own pace. It can take a while to realize that, but it’ll be much more rewarding that way.
"Having been here a year and starting to feel that things are setting in stone..." Booooy did I feel that. This monologue is like a year's worth of therapy. This reminds me somewhat of the Last Psychiatrist article about action movies and fairy tales, and accepting life as it presents itself. Boy I sure didn't expect an anime wolf lady to be the most psychologically relatable person on the internet.
This moment was arguably more powerful, meaningful and impactful than the vast majority of entire streams. I wish I could thank Mio for what she has given us. It must've been hard.
dammit youtube algorithm first video i have seen of her and now im crying you cant have spicy food every day or your taste buds will shrivel up and die but the good comfort food is something to have while you watch the sun go down live life at your own pace, its all part of a balanced diet
I see this is the one that you wanted to do I did edit some part of this stream too But you have done better job than me anyway So i’m glad you translated this stream Let me write what I plan to say on this video here I can’t believe myself I cried when I heard someone say “I want to be ginger pork too” I fully understand that not everyone can be the main dish. When she said like she gave up her plan to be ginger pork I burst out cry I understand the feeling that even you don’t want to .You will compare yourself to other. That is the human nature But It seem she misunderstood a bit for the meaning of Miso soup Miso soup is not just a soup. It’s Japanese soul Miso soup is literally the food that you can eat everyday My Japanese teacher once told me the line that he used to proposed to his wife was “Can you make my Miso soup every morning?” That is how much miso soup mean to Japanese people You are you mio chan be yourself everyone else is already taken
Thanks, it was a lot of work though. I made multiple revisions and even thought of just translating the entire thing uncut at a certain point. Still pulled through at the end because a 10 minutes-ish video will more likely be seen than a 40 minutes one. I hope that more people can understand that they are human too, and will give them more support.
Yep a good miso soup is literally worth the plane ticket After I went to Japan every single miso soup in my country taste not that good. I love miso soup that thing is like natural msg in liquid form
I remember this being a really rough stream for me when I first saw it. It hadn't even been a month since azur lane started me down the vtuber road and suddenly one of them was pouring her heart out. It was also surreal seeing her avatar smiling the whole time so I ended up putting the stream in the background and just listening to her. I'm glad she didn't bottle it in and was allowed a stream to just talk about her feelings. I've seen some others do it since and some even quit. Never forget their are people behind these avatars with their own hopes, dreams and feelings. I hope none of them are forced to change who they are just for some fame.
Please keep uploading these types of clips. We all need to know it ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. I hope the best for all of the HL girls. I might not watch all of them or even particularly enjoy their specific content, but I do love them all. And when the day comes that they retire I’ll make sure to never forget them.
i always love seeing streamers/vtubers and their chats having those close friend like chat or talk, it makes me feel happy for them evertime and also my rice taste salty now
Miso soup is the part of the meal I always look forward to the most. Whether I end up having it at the beginning, the middle, or the end of the meal. Or even by itself as a treat. And sometimes the quality of the soup will differ, especially if I make it myself, but regardless the taste, my heart and my mind and my taste buds knows it's still miso soup. And it still warms my body and makes me smile. Just like Mio.
Its been 3 month for me from start following Hololive. I saw mio and always think she is the type of supporting character who can made anyone feel comfort and warm. I just know everyone think the same....and mio also know how her be in other view... But know the truth what she really want is a pain in my heart too... Thank for really great tran video.
Life has been harsh for me but Vtubers cheered me up at times. I appreciate what they've gave me even though it's just for the moment . They light up this dark alley of mine even if it's just a bit . So I might as well support them whenever I can . To the other people out there who's facing a harsh reality . I hope you're doing well to live on . As Orga said "Never stop moving forward".
I still remember this stream from last year where i started getting into vtubers and it was my first time watching her and now she's one of my favorite vtuber to support
This is what I fear the most for our vtubers, the day where each of them will feel exactly like how Mio feels in this video, it's truly heart breaking to watch..
It's fine to be sad, sometime you need it, cry if you want to cry, don't push yourself to be strong all the time, there's a moment that you need to release your emotions, but, don't let yourself drown in sadness. Sorry if there's mistake in my english
Great, now my eyes are sweating and I want miso soup. Thanks Okayu. Jokes aside, while I can't comment on Mio's content leading up to this stream, from her recent streams I have been able to catch, it sounds like she's a bit more comfortable with "letting loose", being herself and doing more of the things she wants to, which is good for her and I've been enjoying it a lot. Thanks for translating the human side of Vtubers again.
She was doing so well and found a *great* groove to work with, and then her Company couldn't do the *MOST IMPORTANT THING NECESSARY.* *_They failed to act. They failed to protect her._* Here's hoping Mio enjoys the break as at least a means to relax and recharge, and that she may come back to her MioFa completely refreshed.
mio is like a cheerful person who is happy and always helps people who need advice. we only know Vtubers from their streaming which always looks fun and entertaining without being aware of how they feel in real life. in front of all the audience Vtubers always try hard to entertain us with Various ways. We don't know what happened to Vtubers in their lives. Are they sad? Or lonely? What we can do for them is to pray for the best, pray for the best for them and accompany them while they are live streaming. Thank you for translating the live streaming video clip of mio when she is sad. amazing work!
Sometimes we forget that they are also human with struggles like us too behind the 2D model and I feel a video like this one really reminds us that we have to treat them like one and support them whenever they might feel down (anti's).
Sounds like she's burnout, who wouldn't be doing the same thing everyday Putting a smile on your face everyday even though you aren't happy doing it or simply tired of doing it. That's insane. They wanted this kind of life, so it's hard to fell bad for them. Reminds me of office workers. I just hope none of these ladies have a mental breakdown due to the fact they have to pander to such a trash toxic community.

- Nekomata Okayu
"I'll start running again in my own way, even though the pace might not be the fastest and may not be the best one, but I'll keep running".
- Ookami Mio
Our tomboish Neko is fully right... She described it perfectly, just wow.

This is like the time when Fubuki confessed she broke down. Even Suisei took a five day break. While I wish people do need to know about the amount of stress on the Vtubers, I also wish Vtubers themselves know that even other Vtubers can let out and cry.
Whelan Tang when did fubuki confess that?
Vibe Check This is a translated clip from Hololive Moments th-cam.com/video/hKxMxdYuO5g/w-d-xo.html
Hate speech and tweets would be sent to them everyday for each stream, especially for larger vtubers
Though, here in Mio's case, she wants to be special in an agency where everyone to her seems to be sparkling bright while she is very plain.

Well said.
agreed. we need more of these type subtitled content from time to time.
It's these kind of clips that hook me into them. I don't want to support idols, I want to support girls who are trying their best in this vtuber hell. It's how I got into Korone and Ars.
The happy end of this sad story is:
After this, Okayu, Korone, Fubuki, Ayame, Mio and Subaru went to the legendary hot spring trip, not only forming the amazing combo-unit of OKFAMS (Consisting of FAMS and the Gamers united) but also getting her mind off of things.

I get where you're coming from choosing the Throne Zwei or the Arche Gundam that Ali pilots, and I think the Stargazer can also do that using its beam capture ability and create a field of shootable beam cutters around it instead of having a giant sword. I agree that the Gundam MK-II (Titans ver.) works for Mio, but I also wonder if there's another MS that would suit her better.

Yea, I can see why they go to her with their problems so often.
Hololive has come so far, in many ways it doesn't even feel like the same hololive anymore.
You are a good miofa.
I hear ya there man and I highly agree some of the others can get pretty loud

Why is that quoted as if that's a take anyone has? Literally no one has ever said that lol
Imagine saying this to your friend that is exactly like Mio but you don't know since he/she is hiding it.
Now thats a real Idol :')
she's the mother.
The hard thing about being the 'mother' though, just like mothers, is that their love isn't always returned. She always comforts others, but will others comfort her to the same degree?
Hopefully she gets the support she deserves.
The original stream is from december 2019 btw. She probably got over it by now, at least I hope so.

Is it weird when whenever I think back on the Hololive Idols, I feel like I'm having a 1-way friendship with them? Like, they won't know (or will ever know) who I am, but for some reason, I know and accept them for what they are, as if we've been long time friends.

I hope Mio has friends who always accept her regardless who she is in real life, because that's how I coped with mine.... by becoming myself only with them and trust them more than anything, because sometime even people and family members can be too judgemental towards certain things... sometimes it's good, but sometimes it's exhausting

I think the issue of worrying and staying relevant is wider than just vtubers, it inflicts youtubers and regular streamers a lot too.
@@ghostlygardener5644 It definitely does and I was considering mentioning that, but my point was to illustrate that these untouchable entertainment forces are people at the end of the day, and people are always bound by conflict.
I want Okayu as a motivational coach, this was just so cute and inspiring... :')
Back to this clip again after 2 years passed, and still got the emotions.
Okayu is such an Ikemen ...

That is the unfortunate truth, majority of the independent vtubers can't break 1k subs and will be lucky if more than 20 people watches their streams.
Then see lupi chan channel you know what i mean

"Mio-chan is like miso soup"
I don't really know what to expect from Okayu anymore.
U breath or talk... Is enough to make all of us happy tbh..
look mio, you already had 800k subsribers now, you're our best miso soup and im proud to be your MioFa
yes
as suisei once said too, its very important to them to catch a break,
but, that doesnt mean they can easily rest too, because the new problem arise,
"is it okay to me to catch a break?"
"i dont want to be forgotten"
" everyone will left me behind"
this problem rise and worry her and resulting her cannot catch a break at all,
actually as coco once said, hololive house is needed to help them like this, atleast after stream she have someone to talked to
I believe the answer: "you are a miso soup" was not the one she wanted, or more like, was not the answer Mio needed at the time.
That's what I got too, that's why I left that section in.
Agree... i think kaichou's speech when she consulting watame would be more appropriate.. its about dont compare to the wrong side
*_Exactly what Mio is feeling right now._*
But the most important thing to remember is, you can only be who you are.
Is that really bad though?"_*
Does Mio *NEED* to be a meme like Korone or Miko, Haachama or Kiryu?
But I don't think she's the obligatory condiment for all meals, I see her like the rest of the members, a star in her own way~
And hey, if it means anything I'm just some guy from some island in the Caribbean, for me Miso soup is an expensive and delicious soup that always brings a smile to my face whenever I have it!

---
Just so we don't end on a somber note, thank you for the translation!
Thank you for the translation! T^T
even her BGM is comforting and makes me feel like home
It is important to remember that behind all the publicity, fame and in this case, avatars, that they too are humans that have emotions.
it is critical we send an wholesome army to give her hugs there immediatley
I saw this video a while back and put it on my watch later list, I was bit scared to watch it.
Glad I have. It’s hard when a lot of people rely on you for comfort in a terrible world, feeling obligated to put on a front and overwork yourself. You focus on others so much you forget yourself and might burn out.
To help others you gotta help yourself first, and it’s ok to be you. people can be happy and make others happy at their own pace. It can take a while to realize that, but it’ll be much more rewarding that way.
"Having been here a year and starting to feel that things are setting in stone..."
Booooy did I feel that. This monologue is like a year's worth of therapy. This reminds me somewhat of the Last Psychiatrist article about action movies and fairy tales, and accepting life as it presents itself. Boy I sure didn't expect an anime wolf lady to be the most psychologically relatable person on the internet.
I wish I could hug every single one of these vtubers and tell them that they are, indeed, good enough.
This moment was arguably more powerful, meaningful and impactful than the vast majority of entire streams.
I wish I could thank Mio for what she has given us. It must've been hard.
Mio is a blessing 🥰🤗🤗
Man this made me tear up a bit but no matter what happen we will still support Mio-mama
dammit youtube algorithm
first video i have seen of her and now im crying
you cant have spicy food every day or your taste buds will shrivel up and die
but the good comfort food is something to have while you watch the sun go down
live life at your own pace, its all part of a balanced diet
I see this is the one that you wanted to do
I did edit some part of this stream too But you have done better job than me anyway
So i’m glad you translated this stream
Let me write what I plan to say on this video here
I can’t believe myself
I cried when I heard someone say “I want to be ginger pork too”
I fully understand that not everyone can be the main dish.
When she said like she gave up her plan to be ginger pork
I burst out cry
I understand the feeling that even you don’t want to .You will compare yourself to other.
That is the human nature
But It seem she misunderstood a bit for the meaning of Miso soup
Miso soup is not just a soup. It’s Japanese soul
Miso soup is literally the food that you can eat everyday
My Japanese teacher once told me the line that he used to proposed to his wife was
“Can you make my Miso soup every morning?”
That is how much miso soup mean to Japanese people
You are you mio chan
be yourself everyone else is already taken
Thanks, it was a lot of work though. I made multiple revisions and even thought of just translating the entire thing uncut at a certain point.
Still pulled through at the end because a 10 minutes-ish video will more likely be seen than a 40 minutes one.
I hope that more people can understand that they are human too, and will give them more support.
Yep a good miso soup is literally worth the plane ticket
After I went to Japan every single miso soup in my country taste not that good.
I love miso soup that thing is like natural msg in liquid form
Oh wow... Just wow
Add Mio crying to the list of things I never want to hear again
Nice premiere. I love the stuff Yoyuu uploads
Who are the monsters that disliked this?
They probably disliked it be because they disliked seeing her crying, that's what I assume and am 1000% sure
@@OriginalSpectorius yeah, who would dislike our mama , it's between like her or dislike to see her sad

I can't, this is too heartbreaking, she's too sweet
Edit: okay, that art on the outro is just the cherry on top, thx, now i feel sadder
True happiness lies within a moment. Those hours can be like 5 minutes while you’re happy.
My kokoro ..
This is what I fear the most for our vtubers, the day where each of them will feel exactly like how Mio feels in this video, it's truly heart breaking to watch..
Okay, you broke my heart. I hope you're happy.
Subbed.
It's fine to be sad, sometime you need it, cry if you want to cry, don't push yourself to be strong all the time, there's a moment that you need to release your emotions, but, don't let yourself drown in sadness.
Sorry if there's mistake in my english
If you were to marry someone irl it's obviously mio 10/10
This hurts more right now.
And even more now.
She was doing so well and found a *great* groove to work with, and then her Company couldn't do the *MOST IMPORTANT THING NECESSARY.*
*_They failed to act. They failed to protect her._*
Here's hoping Mio enjoys the break as at least a means to relax and recharge, and that she may come back to her MioFa completely refreshed.
One of my favorite moments from her and what made me a fan.
I don't even know her but this got me bout to cry-
mio is like a cheerful person who is happy and always helps people who need advice. we only know Vtubers from their streaming which always looks fun and entertaining without being aware of how they feel in real life. in front of all the audience Vtubers always try hard to entertain us with Various ways.
