I prefer CCI due to the lack of failures I’ve experienced. One thing to consider, if you use a different gun and shoot those same two ammo brands again you might get a totally different result..
Nice comparison vid, I just picked up some Aguila Standard Velocity, so far I am seeing similar results to what you shared, Aguila isnt horrible but CCI is a little more "consistent" (shouldn't use that word with either of these).
Great video! I just started shooting suppressed and currently have cci clean & aguila subsonic. I wasn't too impressed with the results i had with the cci clean. Have yet to shoot the aguila subsonic.
I would suggest some Eley Team, some SK Long Range Match, some RWS Special Match, some RWS R50 and if your eyes aren’t watering at that point RWS R100. All these have tightened up a smidge more when weighed out. I haven’t been able to put my hands on the Lapua range yet, but apparently a good rabbit hole to check out as well.
I shoot both of these in my Springfield Armory 2020 Rimfire and get roughly the same results - the CCI groups a little better than the Aguila at 50 yards and100 yards. They are both rather inexpensive rounds so I don't expect the kind of performance I get from shooting Eley 😜 You are making me reconsider the next rifle - I have been locked in on a CZ457 but maybe I need to look at the Ruger Precision again.
Wow! I think i remember my 597 doing a bit better with Aguila Standard Velocity than CCI. Honestly, the 597 just doesn't shoot CCI very well. However, that rifle absolutely loves SK products. Especially Pistol Match!
Recently had a similar shootout with CCI AND Aguila Standard Velocity at 50 yds with my S&W m-41 (7”) and 4X scope. I got similar results 10 shots CCI 1.25” Aguila 1.5”. The CCI is slightly better but Aguila is $1 cheaper. I was surprised that it was that close.
We plink at 100 yards with cheap lever actions, cheap scopes, and the cheapest bulk ammo we can find...perversely, only getting hits on 4 inch targets about 25-35% of the time is affordable, great fun, go figure...we have a stash of CCI sv ammo, and will zero at 25 yards if we ever need to hunt, the guns/scopes plenty accurate at short range...we would get better accuracy at 100 yards if we used better ammo, but for everyday fun our fixed income wallets say cheap bulk...that said, we appreciate ALL the folks out here pushing the accuracy envelope, good to know there lots of good, even great, shots nationwide...carry on...!
Cool showdown! Nice to see 2 ammunitions together 😊 CCi is probably the best US ammunition you can get. Which isn't saying much, but it's all we have, lol 😂 Some rifles really like it. Fliers are inevitable, though. Thanks for sharing!
@@Moondog2A How come you didn't do average velocities with ES and SDs? Ive found the Aguila Subsonics are better than the Std. velocity. Both apart from a few fliers/outliers were very consistent velocities with low ESs which is what you want at long range. My CZ455 Varmint likes the CCI and Aguila equally well so I was a bit surprised at how badly the Aguila shot here.
Federal American Eagle Suppressor is the most precise cheap (sub-10cpr) 22LR ammo. Reliability is on par with CCI but tighter groups. Note the "Suppressor", not the regular American Eagle, that one is mediocre. Also, Aguila Subsonic isn't bad. Significantly better than Aguila Standard.
@@Moondog2A LOL!!! I only use Tenex for the Mini Palma matches (where the winners are measured in the numbers of X's), everything else I use CCI Standard
CCI standard is the best bang for your buck on accuracy, in my experience. Why 5 shot groups? Why not 3? Or 2? Or 1? Listen to Hornady’s podcast called your groups are too small. 5 shot groups are pointless. You say that CCI had an average group size of 1.93”, yet you can’t repeatedly hit a 2” target based on your groups. What’s the point of using this metric? 5 shot groups are pointless I tell you, pointless. Rimfire is cheap. 10 round groups are fine at 50 yards. Out at 100, you may as well do 20. That will ACTUALLY tell you how accurate the rifle is.
Fair opinion. I test to the match conditions I compete in. For match we shoot 4 x 5-shot targets for score. I suppose I could have shot all 4 targets for testing but the video time seemed to get a bit long already.
@TheRange7 statistically speaking, 5 rounds is not complete. Period. It theoretically gets you about 75% of the information we as shooters are looking for, on average. To call it “complete” is completely wrong. Is it better than 3? Sure. But can you shoot a five shot group, zero your scope to where your rounds just landed and shoot five more shots within a target the size of your previous group? No. So really, what’s the point?
@@joeculver6227 Shooting three consecutive five-shot groups under identical conditions is no different than doing a fifteen-shot group, so it’s not entirely pointless.
@mikegreen2214 it is pointless if you only measure the extreme spread of this five shots, and ignore that the previous group had a shot 1/2” higher than your current group does.
And this is the reason CCI standard velocity target ammo was not allowed in the budget rifle/budget scope/budget ammo challenge put out my mnmarine and boomer. You should grab your "budget" rifle and give it a try. Bring your Aguila..
You always want to support American manufacturers or everything will become foreign. And American is usually better. Can't believe the lack of American shotshell manufacturers presence on shelves when I walk the local store aisles.
Another good video on your Ruger PRF.
Thanks, I've enjoyed making videos with my RPRF.
Great video, thanks. I too get better results with the CCI, so I wasn't surprised.
Glad the video was helpful!

It's a little less of an issue with my bolt gun. But CCI certainly runs more reliably in my pistols.
It seems to me each rifle prefers a different ammo much of the time. Great shooting buddy
Thanks!

CCI isn't all that consistent but it is more consistent than most.
I get about the same results with my RPR
Good to know that my RPR is pretty normal
CCI Standard is my GoTo for Zeros' on my many .22s and
Has been for awhile since starting Long Range...

Great Video---

I like CCI standard over the Aguila standard in my CZ .Good video 👍🇺🇸

I've got a small stash of SK and Eley to test after I get done testing the cheap stuff

I have both rifles but the CZ457 is the more accurate of the two (so far).

I have heard good things about SK products as well.

Try Eley CMP Standard Velocity if you can find it. My Tikka loves it.
"If you can find it" is the operative statement

Price has a quality all its own
I do prefer CCI but wouldn't object to Aguila. Competition keeps everyone honest.
100%
Not bad for inexpensive standard velocity ammo at 100 yds with an entry level rifle,
Thanks for the assessment.

I can't afford Tenex unless I go back to eating Top Ramen 3 times a day. I'll keep trying different ammo.
