Today am a fan of Alberto Alessi. He allowed artists to express themselves in everyday objects

Remember when moving from to the United States, this was my first purchase. 3 years ago and still making my coffee every single morning.

I have the classic Bialetti pot and I love it. Such a simple and elegand desing. I even take it camping as it fits right on top of a gas burner.

Nel 1968 Renato Bialetti dichiarò che la moka nacque nel 1935. Poi per motivi che posso immaginare venne retro datata al 1933. Ora siamo al 1931?

"The moka pot is a stove-top or electric coffee maker that brews coffee by passing boiling water pressurized by steam through ground coffee. Named after the Yemeni city of Mocha, it was invented by Italian engineer Luigi Di Ponti in 1933 who sold the patent to Alfonso Bialetti, an aluminum vendor."

@@LucioDelPiccolo Italian Art Society: "The Bialetti Moka Express, invented by Luigi De Ponti and Alfonso Bialetti, was produced for the first time in 1933. One of the most famous and widely known examples of Italian industrial design, it is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent collection. It’s name derives from the city of Mohka, Yemen, which was one of the earliest sources of the highest quality Arabica coffee beans. The inspiration for the coffee pot’s design was apparently the functioning of the clothes washer his wife used."

@@LucioDelPiccolo Serious Eats: "The beautifully designed Moka Pot, equally ubiquitous and divisive among coffee fans, was invented in 1933 by Luigi di Ponti. The machine was quickly put into production by a mustachioed metal machinist from Piedmont, Alfonso Bialetti, who transformed di Ponti's so-called "Moka Express", an aluminum, pressure-driven stove-top coffee brewer, into one of the most famous, familiar brewers in the world."

Its an accent from a dialect/language up north of italy called Piedmontese, you can hear the french influence on his pronunciation as it is apart of the western group of Romance languages.

@@Art-is-craft I take back my first comment. I bought coffee last month in Italy which was ground for Moka pot and it turned out very nice. I realised that the ground coffee from the same Italian brands in the UK are either for espresso or for everything else including Moka pot ( they are finer compared to to the specific Moka ground!). I now have to either a grinder or buy my coffee from Italy!

The Italian brands work fine in the Moka Pots. They are not that different from what is sold in Italy.
