Tom you don't have to pay a parking fine if it's on private land, only if it's issued by the council. The ones on private land are unenforceable they can only get you done for trespassing which would be laughed out of court and cost them more than it's worth. My dad is a bailiff :-D x
I've been in a 90 minute limit car park for too long before now. It was a shop with a restaurant and we'd bought a ton of stuff for our new house and then stayed for lunch so were there 2hrs 10 mins in total... If you give your registration to the customer services (or the manager) they ensure you don't get a ticket.
My dad got fined for parking in a place where he worked. He didn't have money, there were no signs and it was a new building that he was working at for service management. He wasn't happy, appealed and they denied it. He still brings it up with his employers as a problem for loads of their workers xx sorry for your fine

I must agree with your idea because I had a similar situation happen with ticketing offenses (except mine wasn't as much of a mistake I could keep away from. I genuinely did not do anything deliberately to get one.)

My partner has a podcast called See If It Sticks where they solve first world problems, and so many problems are about parking! They came up with the idea of 'granny police' to be in charge of car parks, making sure people don't step out of line in queues etc, because no one is horrible to grannies! It would be something for the elderly to do and they also give out sweets :)

I went to a McDonalds, didn't see the 90 minute signs either. Went to the same maccies again a couple of weeks later, thought it was two hours and got fined again. It just so happens there is an overflow car park next to the cctv car park that isn't cctv monitored. I thoroughly learned my lesson!!
I live in the US and in my state you get a freebie for a speeding ticket. You still have to pay the fine, but they won't report it to your insurance or add points to your license.
See Martin Lewis - off of the telly. Actually the only people who can legally issue you a fine, is the council. The other private companies just issue you with an invoice. You could technically either ignore it all together, or do your option of the charity donation after all!

On the parking fine issue, my understanding is that parking fines pay for the cost of the admin that goes into the collection of the fines so they don't actually make any money off it :) xx

I had to collect my daughter's prescriptions but was held up by the friendly staff which caused me to be late by 10 minutes. . . you met her back in party in the parks l, Oxford, where she met you and the band way back when - her name is kayleigh Conway. .. she's unable to get a blue badge since changes to qualify (thank you all those people who abuse blue badges) yet has Downs, osteoarthritis, bi-polar disorder, partial deafness, eyesight problems, other mobility issues ... oh, the list goes on! Still want to say she always gets excited to see your new uploads and is doing well. She's leaving home this year, but will miss her bedroom which we've "Mcfly'd" with posters ... she can't take them with her as I had to paste then to the walls (I wasn't allowed to open the windows to air her room because the posters would flap about & tear!) Last year when my mum and I went to pick my dad up from the hospital after an operation we parked in the 20 minute slots as we were just picking him up, but they took waaaay longer to discharge him than they said and we ended up being fifteen minutes over the time and got fined :( we definitely would have been happy to pay the fine if it had gone to charity!! Don't pay the fine ! we had one of them once when we drove through the night and slept 30 minutes over the time ! it's was a service station aswell ! they always say stop when you get tired ... then when you do you get fined as we slept a bit too long ! got a fine but we forgot to pay it ! and never heard if it again !
Tom, you don't have to pay that parking fine! its an invoice not a fine! unless its from the police or council you don't have to pay it! appeal it on the grounds you were using the services and they aren't losing money because its free parking! google it!

My mom and I went to a mall and there were new parking lots and there were no signs that you had to pay to park there, so we just left the car there like many other people. EVERYONE who parked there got a ticket because there were no signs but you still had to pay. It sucked
I have no idea how the fine's for charity when its a genuine mistake would work, but I do like it. The one time I got a parking ticket it was because I had bought a parking pass (the very first time I ever parked in a public parking lot by myself) and it was good for the time I was there but I had put it on the dashboard backward so the time/date couldn't be read and I didn't realize. Heads up buddy: these fines are supported by the local councils so they aren't legally enforced. Secondly depending on which company has fined you (if it's Starbucks or KFC) you can call up and explain that you were on site using the facilities and lost track of time, a shift manager can override the fine and cancel it. As long as they aren't a bellend. I know from experience so yeah, give them a call, or ignore it your shout :)

There isnt any law saying that security guards that patrol the campus can give you tickets like that. The more you know the more money and trouble you save yourself! lol knowledge is power.

I should be less shocked than I am that London parking tickets are so expensive, but £100?! The parking tickets in my town are usually $10.

But the money often goes to the local authority who impose the fine to repair roads etc so the infrastructure is adequate for people's needs.

I thought there was a new law that passed that said you get 10 minutes courtesy time after your ticket runs out before they can fine you
