Several years ago, when managing a large equine-only, primarily lameness-focused veterinary clinic in North Texas, I formulated the idea and did all the research in the adaption of an industrial handheld fluoroscopic C-arm unite for use in real-time, full-motion Xray on the extremities of performance horses.

When the development was completed, we were able to clearly image in full motion, the medial patellar ligament of the stifle joint on a full-size horse. With image quality as good as that achieved normally by conventional means using a 1000ma X-ray machine with a grid film cassette. This system is now routinely used in a mobile format, onsite at horse shows, and performance venues in the US, for detailed lameness diagnosis, and to assist with interarticular injections. This is particularly effective in the placement of the needle in the DIT Distal Intertarsal joint of the hock for HA, Hyaluronic acid injections. For those familiar with this procedure, this is a very tricky joint to accurately hit with a needle. This system combined with a veterinary practitioner that is well versed in sport horse lameness issues is a highly effective tool for accurately diagnosing and treating these conditions on-site. As well as in the surgical environment where interarticular surgery is needed. Combined with a surgical arthroscope this is the complete package for equine orthopedic specialists.

Great insight into the 'gold standard' care of this issue! I wish all horse owners had this type of resource available to them.

A deep sand or hills for physical therapy I would recommend

deep sand really needs to be approached with caution. I would not recommend with smaller horses, non muscled horses or until the horse has completely recovered. TOO deep surface is notorious for causing injuries!

Just wondering if that specific horse has those stifle problems, cause his hinds are shod very short , similar to how I got my horse which is now lame. Other farrier videos saying that this is where the lameness comes from.

Absolutely no doubt that trimming/shoeing can have a large influence on this - but it is also likely to be a biomechanical and conformation issue.
