That doesn't mean the rest of their product stack is useless. Whenever possible, I use nothing but Intel network cards or chips. They're just the best option.

First time I fired up the 1U computing server we use at work (a dual-socket xeon affair), I had my back turned while it POSTed and genuinely thought the fire alarm had gone off. Server fans at 100% don't joke around. :)
(1U ones are even angrier, since they need to spin way faster to move enough air).
@@dnebdal what happen to server then ?
how many amp/rpm the fans are
@@dnebdal yeah, in 1U/2U servers the RPM these fans do is kinda scary, and so is the noise they make.
This is a supermicro 1U/2U server fan spec (and edited to add 2 standard desktop 9mm & 12mm specs)
Just about noise, each fan adds around 3 dBA. It means 80dB or more with the case opened, that means a very loud noise.
And usually our standard desktop fans have no more than 15 watt, these small ones consume 22 watt.
On 2U racks, it's easy to find 30-35 Watts with +70dBA.

Have one of these server CPU on my desk with a 8k RPM low profile fan. The entire office can't work. Coworker suggested Noctura and that's the best $75 ever. A guy from another department was afraid to ask his boss for approval so he end up writing a script to loop and set the fan speed to low, competing with the cooling system to raise the CPU speed too high.

Seasonic PSUs are A++ anyway. I have a Seasonic PSU that has been running for more than 7 years with no issues, and will probably be going Seasonic again anyway.
I have a Seasonic psu in my system that is 5 years old, would've loved to buy a new Seasonic psu again for my Ryzen build but they decided to sign an exclusivity agreement with a disturber in my country that refuses to sell to the public and also doesn't sell to any retailers.
Thus it's almost impossible to get their PSUs here except for importing which makes it much more expensive than their competitors.

@@prec1sion548 We have a fair bit of video evidence that he doesn't.
Besides, Samba can be plenty fast, and it's not hard to set one of the Linux/BSD file server distros up for windows domain users. Also, windows server gets kind of expensive as you add more users.

"Intel is in trouble." Builds system with thousands of dollars of Intel drives in it...
Used Intel drives (so Intel gets no money out of it)
@@jfwfreo dont they? Fb upgraded their Intel systems, so sure intel made no money from linus directly but neither has anyone else.
@@jfwfreo Facebook is replacing them with Optane, which is Intel, so they made money.
If you have 100 million in sales and 50% are processors... they're on the losing money if they don't buy them. So, just because they spent "Thounsands of dollars" on them doesn't mean they're in a good position
@@JohanDanielAlvarezSanchez you pretty much contradicted yourself "not in a good position"
You are treating it as because 1 sector isnt in a good position then the company in total is doing badly.
Intel has lots of arms, and some like optane are doing awesome, their server support is also doing brilliant.
Infact they recorded $1bn above predicted profits (approx 1.7%), that's not a bad position for the company as a whole, while also remember at the min they have a lot of r+d tied up into Xe which is a whole new arm and has to draw funding from other sectors.
Now sure you are right, AMD are kicking their arse, but that's only in the consumer/prosumer sector, but this happens all the time, 10 years ago you would have been a fool to build a high intel gaming rig, as such AMD went to shit. Swings and roundabouts my friend.

After messing around with Windows Storage Spaces for some reason, you concede defeat and say you're going to use FreeNAS. Then you cut to Proxmox. Did something go wrong with an attempted FreeNAS (baremetal) implementation ? Were you running FreeNAS in a VM ? Were you running Proxmox+ZFS ?
A constructive, non-bullshit technical comment in the comment section? In what parallel universe am I?
At the monent i an planning my storage and VM Honeserver :) I cant really decide between FreeNAS and unRaid. Someone has any suggestions? :)
He was running proxmox + zfs
I had the same thought. Why would he use Proxmox if he only wants to build a NAS.
@@gamenikhd2001 For home use, 98% of the time you want to use Unraid. Unraid will deal with a mish-mash of disk and hardware better than ZFS. I find that ZFS backed solutions like FreeNAS work better when you can buy your disk more like a business, IE buying blocks of identical disks. Unraid seems to deal with drives of varying sizes and manufacturers better. ZFS solutions have more capability, but you have to be honest with yourself if you need those features and if you can afford to buy hardware in a way that is more supported by ZFS solutions.
