For a starter base, I like a spot anywhere close to Sinner's Refuge. It is one of the easiest places to get thralls, and one tier 4 is guaranteed there, all others can be tier 4 and all crafters are there. Most playthroughs I just start a base near there, start making my building materials and get my first couple of thralls and then move to my main base later on. For a main base, most important for me is proximity to high level fighter thralls and an obelisk. That's why I prefer to build my main base up north, near the mounds or near New Asgarth (materials are not much of a consideration, since wood, stone and iron are everywhere up north and all others like brimstone are easy to do with a maproom and bearer thrall).
Speaking as a private server and solo player, I adore #4. As a "starter base" I've used it nearly every playthrough. Though I usually graduate to the Highlands and Jungle for larger bases as I reach end game. It's a nice spot to get established, and it really delivers on the tropical island aesthetic; if you're like me and hate the desert aesthetic as a home.
After living everywhere on the map I realized that most resources rarely matter, at endgame it is more advantageous if you are somewhere close to an obelisk since you travel a lot. If you are solo, you'll end up making a wheel of friendship + maproom combo near every major city. You'll need basically 2 things: Good thralls and building material for your base (mainly stone since wood is everywhere). The best source of stone is near Sepemeru where you can gather several thousand (~10+) with a bearer thrall at one go. I'd never choose a base based on the availability of caves or sulhur, or silk. since I personally never used sulphur since the early days.. And most caves are a 1 trick pony you visit them once that that's it. Since when Frozen north was added, skeletons in the frozen fort dropped a ton of steel, there was never a need to create. After they were nerfed FC introduced a lot if it in the Sepemeru chests, all your steel needs can be fulfilled via looting chests in Sepemeru daily.. or going a round in New Asgarth, the barbarian city. If you need iron, you can make a trip to the pirates or to the black hand ship. You also don't need access to Silk, since there's a whole area covered with them, 1 trip there solves silk for a few weeks, you only need to go back if you build a lot of flags. All in all, I think the best locations are near Sepemeru and near New Asgarth. i.imgur.com/VZo7ipc.png I personally liked the ones near Sepemeru better since the large cliffs there with flat tops provide the best views. I guess if you want raids, they are not ideal since mountaintop bases cannot be raided by NPCs. Some images of the view from the time I built on the mountain between Sepemeru and Kael's stronghold: i.imgur.com/a4tuwPk.png i.imgur.com/W4lrYPM.png i.imgur.com/X06BGZY.png I'd rate this the best spot to build, close to City, close to obelisk, protected from raids, has one of the best aloe areas just north of Sepemeru, steel comes from chests, thralls are close, stone is all around your mountain with close access to a farmable world boss scorpion). What is less convenient is Iron, but it still has ~2000 around when you gather stone.. And when I built next to the Oasis north of Sepemeru. There's a good flat area there for bigger structures: i.imgur.com/cTMFbdI.png i.imgur.com/KK9K60n.png i.imgur.com/eswuhHp.png #4 I've built there once, but the lack of obelisk nearby ruins it. It's a lot of run from any waypoint. #8 is the close to what I mentioned above but on a different top. * high five*
I build at the plateau (Ironbreaker Ridge) as my second base before I moved to the Dragonmouth valley (for rpg-reasons). It's a good spot. Played on official server, and when it's busy, it's the one spot that is always taken.
@@NorseGraphic Yeah, the reason I lived everywhere was the same, when I played it through on official, my spots were taken and I also prefer not to see anybody else's base when I look out the window. We need a new map! :D
You can never have enough brimstone. I hardly use any brimstone for steel, except maybe in the beginning. I need it for the things that go boom and you need a lot of it. 10k brimstone will only make you 200 bombs, the bare minimum you need for a small base. So for you to say you never used brimstone since the early days, you're missing out on a lot of fun.
@@ytdlder Enough flat space isn't a consideration at all. Depends on how many walls you want to stack, but the smaller the outer perimiter, the easier it is to defend. You need about 8x8 to fit everything (except animal pen, but who needs animals apart from a bunch of sabretooth). 8x8 is also the maximum span you can cover without using extra walls or pillars. So 8x8 plus the amount of stacks, don't often go over 14x14 for a base. With that size, even if it isn't flat, it's small enough that those foundations to leven don't cost a lot of performance. For me the priorities are strategic (hidden, easy to defend, etc) and travel (near obelisk). A third probably being the purge location.
Good stuff. I just started playing again after a break for several years and I settled on the same plateau that you did for #2. It's amazing how far the game has come and how much has been added since the last time I played.
What do you need easy access to in a starter base? 1. Tier 1 building materials 2. Water 3. Thralls What don't you need access to in a starter base? 1. Alchemical materials 2. Obelisks 3. Boss dungeons The big question is, "when should you move from a starter base to your main base?". Easy answer; "When the latter three become more important than the former three."
Obelisks and map rooms, become utterly useless once you have unlocked the teleporter stone platform in sorcery. Especially since you can link them all together.
I really appreciate this video. I was watching other videos and the areas they directed you were really difficult to get to or not really available for someone starting out. I thought you did a great job of providing locations for players at varying levels of progression. Thanks again. +1. I would love to see an Island of Siptah starter base video.
Love your content, thanks. In single player I like to build near H-I 7-ish near the Black Galleon since it’s near the middle of the map. But I might just use that cave you showed us. It’s practically the same location. Thanks! Keep making Conan content, Exile! Love it!
long time in between feedback I know, but this video is as relevant today as it was when you made it, having only 191 hours on this (via Steam) since I bought it in 2019, I see myself as a rookie player even today, that said I found #4 early on and I loved how it was up high and no one would pursue you there, I am a solo player, at least for now, so I am building in many places for the fun of it, and I love the idea of #3 and have made that today's mission, I am also looking to build a keep in a nice green area, and found a flat area up north with the "Nords" but for now that cave base concept has my attention. thank you for sharing. I really must get into some of the DLC though, still on base game and Riddle of Steel.
Unless you're part of a large clan, there's no such thing as a good PvP base (starter or otherwise) that is not hidden -- and the smaller you can make your base the better.
The one I used on PVE to learn the controls is in the Noob area. cross the wall from the spawn point, and turn left, cross under the bridge. Metal is a little scarce, but starting out you can't use much, but you are mostly safe from predators with several sources of food, easy access to water and plants. gives a place to gain levels for starter thralls.
G6 is a very good spot for defense. Meaning - there are _no_ entrances the mobs can attack through. You have to build the stairs/elevator to get up to the plateau. The site I'm thinking about is *Thugra's Stand.* I spent the majority of my first two characters on the official server up there. To get Ichor you could use the trick with the *Large Water-well* and use traps in it to get unappetizing fish, which you cook to get Ichor. Iron ore is all around as well, and not that far away either. Highly recommended. Edit. Ohh, and it very close to the Obelisk at the Sinkhole!
I love your "Real Estate Kiah" videos. #2 Also has great access to Brimstone in the cave with the Spiders and the Juju boys close to the secondary Blackhand camp (which itself gives you access to Thralls). And if you follow Mitra, there is always a priest near. In fact the first 3 are relatively close to great brimstone sources. And even a bunch of coal to kickstart your early industry. #7 Is brilliant...🤔 I need to mark that spot.
Thx also for this video. Your base#10. I actually build mine abit northwest of that on an Island. No sandstorms and no Purge(at least not yet) Have to travel for metals but hey one cannot have everything(Or perhaps they can?) Stay safe and Gruß from Germany
I actually have a nice base near Conans's city there is a small 2 part lake with small land bridge dividing it on the map and I have my base on the north side of the lake. You have gazelle and kudo an shellbacks for food. You have trees, rock, metal, water, coal all handy as well as the animals for food and also plenty of bushes for various things and also aloe and some lupine trees. You also have easy access to thralls in the city. Also not to far from an obelisk and shattered springs and all the various chests around Sepermaru. On south side you also have access to Rhinos for thicker leather though a bit of a run it's doable. Also several bosses in the area for a challenge
When I build a starter base, which I rarely do, the only goal for that base is to produce tier 3 materials as quick as possible. Wood and stone are everywhere, so that leaves ichor, iron, brimstone and thralls. I love to build somewhere close to sinners refuge. The cave has brimstone, the chosen of asura spawn with good chances on t4 thralls, iron close to the tower of the bats and spiders for ichor around the corner. Once you are set to build a main base though, resources hardly matter, since you travel by obelisk. So access to an obelisk is my main priority. Next is a defendable spot and a good purge.
I like just NE of the Sentinel statues. I build on the shore and extend I to the water. To either side is a hyena, one pair by iron, and a croc. Good training for followers. Up N is coal, gossamer, E more iron plus Gallaman's(?) Tomb. Plus rich in Aloe and overly trusting deer.👍. I like #2, maybe I'll take another look. I remember running through the area, Mitra shrine nearby I think.
There's a place near New Asagarth that has a crazy NPC tower. It has, (count em!) -4- chests to loot AND has a bearer spawn. There's alot of rocks and iron, plus has a wolf den to snatch a wolf pup (located near a small water source.) The only downside is that trees take some travel and there's virtually NO aloe nearby, nor has any thick hide mobs close by.
Me and my girlfriend just built a tower right in front of the Black Hands camp you mentioned as #4 and the iron output there is just bonkers. It was just supposed to be a temporary waystation to get from our first base to wherever our big one was going to end up in. We built it in the night, we didn't even realize all the metal that was nearby. Let alone a cave being nearby where you can harvest all the brimstone you would ever need, past the spiders in there. Now, having watched your video, we are very tempted to build our permanent base at your #8. It looks like we could go crazy building something really big.
There's a small plateau in G4 - one of my favorites. Near Sinner's Refuge, a short walk to tons of iron. Defensible. Only downside is it's also a short walk from water. Plenty of food, trees, fiber, and leather opportunities as well. For a starter base (or Base #1), it's fantastic.
I made my first base near #2 found a place you have to climb to get to my base so purging is going to easy for myself. Just started playing two weeks ago I’m enjoying it. I’m thinking bout moving up north near C10 or maybe little more up to get way more steel
Hi kiah I'm sorry it took so long for me to sub ive seen a few of your vids a few have been helpful all of them were fun to watch so thank you you keep making them and I'll keep watching them
One other consideration is building near Bearers so you can farm Bearer III's for rare materials like Alchemical Base. I've actually built in spot 8 before because of that. Plus you have Aloe all throughout the oasis, which you might need if you're going through the Wine Cellar and fighting the undead horrors down there.
#11, by Sinner's Refuge. It's kinda close to some of the other places you pointed out. It suffers from limited ironstone deposits, but apart from that it's a pretty newb-friendly spot as long as you don't mind hyenas. Brimstone, water, dry wood, good place to pull thralls from.
there is a pass you can dig out and put in stairs, just east of the dungeon. It will take you to the Summoning Place. There are iron and coal less than a minute away.
while looking at the rhinohorn ridge mine on the right past the rock i built a base there was nice and open but while i had a relic hunter purge they kept walking to my base but then just tp inside now even before this vid now im at location 4 now any tips on stoping tp purges?
Hi! I have been playing this game for a long time with all its updates, but the new update was not able to get it to play. What are the steps to play? What do I do?
usually verifying files or reinstalling. I'm not sure the full details of what's going on for you, but that would be my suggestion from what you've told me
I actually built a base on that island by the jungle you mentioned on #4. It is a great spot, so I concur with you. I had an issue with the official server with resources disappearing and not respawning, and I hadn't figured out how to fix that at that point-become the admin of the server, reset it back to the default, log out, and log back in, and that issue should fix-so I started a new game.
Reading through the comments (on multiple videos, I might add). Many seem to base themselves around the obelisks. Though I obviously see why, I can't be the only one who actually extremely dislikes the obelisks existence. Or any kind of fast travel option in this case. That's the thing that keeps me from official servers as well. It kind of breaks the survival aspect.
Where as I see the appeal; quick and easy use of having maproom travel, there are also plenty of really nice spots away from obelisks. I have a friend who absolutely hates the obelisks and wishes they weren't a thing so your not alone haha.
Yaaay! Good to be not alone! Yeah, there are plenty of nice spots with nice sceneries. Though I usually prefer the area around the lake in the eastern part of the Nordheimer region. I think you've shown one of the spots there. It's nice, green, a bit rainy, worst thing around are wolves and it's rather easy to defend. If ambitious or not alone one can even wall of the whole region between the cliffs.
Works in SinglePlayer or for a ServerAdmin only. Hit ESC, go to Settings, click "Make me Admin", then on the ESC menu you see the AdminPanel, which has all the stuff incl Fly
Me and my company are play only on pvp servers. We call the owners of the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th locations "cavemen". And because the feeling of their false safety, our first victims are always they. Perfect places to loot insane amount of stuff! Just wait until the fruit is ripe. YUM^^
How are there no dislikes on this video? I mean, the video is flawless but...people are assholes... there are over 57,000 views...this is fucking weird, I must be trippin'. Nice job :)
i hope new players will not build inside tunnels on pve servers. would never recomment building in there when you don't wann be called jackass or want to have a bad time with people on the server
Google some Reddit debates or other forum debates between Conan and Ark. it seems most people like Conan more even if there are elements of Ark that are better

Hi! I have been playing this game for a long time with all its updates, but the new update was not able to get it to play. What are the steps to play? What do I do?
usually verifying files or reinstalling. I'm not sure the full details of what's going on for you, but that would be my suggestion from what you've told me
On that island near the jungle found a huge demon turtle
just visiting!
Sorry if it sounds dumb but, how are you flying.
Hey kiah can you tell me how you fly your character?plz
Works in SinglePlayer or for a ServerAdmin only.
Hit ESC, go to Settings, click "Make me Admin",
then on the ESC menu you see the AdminPanel, which has all the stuff incl Fly
Me and my company are play only on pvp servers. We call the owners of the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th locations "cavemen". And because the feeling of their false safety, our first victims are always they. Perfect places to loot insane amount of stuff! Just wait until the fruit is ripe. YUM^^
One Problem i have with this NO MAP Locations Noone would Know where to look for these locations without showing where they are on the MAP
i build a city under and around the shattered bridge on official :)
build my bases over water, and make a 5wide path to the mainland, and setup palisades along the river, to my base. -bleed damage
Actually build close to the first location. Actually build next to the water and just kept building up.
Currently building at #2 spiders are annoying tho
How are there no dislikes on this video? I mean, the video is flawless but...people are assholes... there are over 57,000 views...this is fucking weird, I must be trippin'. Nice job :)
Maybe a visual bug I see 44
@@KiahOnFireOfficial I reloaded etc. still none on my end.
Im near number 10, surrounded by deferai camps. I really should move. lol
Wheres the map locations?
My base is on noob river, don't judge me. 😭
Jungle area
i hope new players will not build inside tunnels on pve servers. would never recomment building in there when you don't wann be called jackass or want to have a bad time with people on the server
Looks like trash ark
Defenintly better than ark
Bruh this game is like twice as good as ark, and not nearly as imbalanced. And it’s console version also works which is a big plus
Google some Reddit debates or other forum debates between Conan and Ark. it seems most people like Conan more even if there are elements of Ark that are better
I built at that first spot in front of the Tower of Bats and I got purged by albino bats, baby dragons and boss shalebacks at level 16. It was not fun!
Oh no!
