For anyone confused, this is a good example of why this year's GBB will for the first time have a "Live Producer" category of the competition, split off from the Loopstation category. So the rules of Loopstation are since 2019 when 2nd devices were introduced is that no matter what, you CANNOT have pre-loaded sounds, however you are allowed to have MIDI sequencer pre-loaded on either the 2nd device or the 2nd generation Loopstation if using one. Those MIDI sequencers must be activated by an artist-made sound, either from their mouth or body. This is REALLY apparent in this video, where the artist is making a noise into the mic to set of the sequencer. There's still a very large "LIVE" element involved, you can't just make a noise and the song just plays, its not like a radio host putting on a record, they still have to craft the song live loop it, and keep the mix well-balanced there on the spot. So there's a ton of skill here, and MASSIVE respect to the artists that are doing this. It's become very obvious that this aspect of looping has grown into it's own thing, hence the "Live Producer" category this year.
It's also good to remember this first controversy went the opposite way against Inkie all the way back in 2019 when he was also using the Helix with full synth capabilities and the 'Second device' just became all that more controversial in 2021 so it made sense to actually split the category. Mind you it's not *ideal* because we don't know how popular the producer category will turn out to be so many loopers will be encouraged to just stay on the single device loop category and not try at producer but this split category solution it's still better than dealing with a 3rd GBB where this controversy might still be central to the loop category otherwise.
@dimitriid 100% all valid points. I think its interesting that they're fully opening it up to unlimited devices for producers. I know Beardyman is one of the judges this year specifically because of the new category, but I'd love to see the Beardytron in competition. In related news: you know how much of a pain in the arse its going to be tearing down, setting up, and sound checking "infinite" devices?? 😆
Yeah frosty's second round is absolutely legendary, it was #1 of the top 10 drops of this years loopstation battles. Like everyone else said bizkit vs robin next, i think yall will love it❤
Honestly I'd rather have them react to Robin vs KBA or Frosty (at the Kickback Beatbox Battle). We still get Robin's amazing rounds, and IMO better opponents than Bizkit was. Josh O vs Kristof while we're at it?
Bizkit is the most insane single device user (that means he only uses the loopstation) even more crazy than mb14 and Robin got cracked at using the loopstation once he figured out the oxbox setting the mk2 has a built in sequencer. But imo robins voice is better than mb14.
Also... GREAT REACTION guys! This is a whole other aspect of beatboxing and loopstation that is now grown into its own genre at GBB this year, called "Live Producing". LOVE THIS!!!! Y''all's eyes on Frosty's 2nd track drop..... PERFECT. You've gonna love the Bizkit vs Robin battle if y'all do it, they were on the other side of the bracket leading into the finals :)
So a fun story that will probably get lost in the comments. Frosty's second round debuted in KBB21 an online competition few months prior to GBB. Rythmind, Saro and Inkie were the judges. During results from the battle in which frosty first used that round, Rythmind said that he has no idea how he could possibly beat it if they were to battle against each other and indeed he couldn't.
The tune from Rythmind’s second round was originally from Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor. Both are insanely talented but for me Frosty takes the w hands down because it was all his own original music, rather than “sampling” other stuff. Thanks for putting me onto loop station battles BP! I found your channel through your Ren reactions but I love your energy and how varied your content is. Subbed ❤
1 last comment: specifcally for future MixedByBlitz reactions, I'd *LOVE* to see him put in front of some German Loopstation, particularly since they've REALLY started popping off 2022-2023. The German Beat Box Championship 2022 videos are up and the level that they're working now makes them the ones to beat in GBB 2023. German Beat Box Championship 2022 battles I highly recommend are: Antrix vs Kaos (VERY Hype) Lennard vs Friidon (VERY Energetic) Slether vs Kaos (VERY Polished)
@deliciousficticious3150 Germany's loopstation stepped everything up several levels over the past 2 years, GBB 2023 is going to be really interesting. By the way, if you liked that battle, check out Lennard's "Overload." it's his submission for GBB 2023 Wildcard round 1.
@@litscreek5361 I've just watched a Syjo v Friidon v Mistix loopstation fantasy battle. Now that was epic. I might need to get me a ticket to go visit the Germans ☺️
Should check out German championship 2022. First up is Syjo vs Mistyx as the quarter final. The whole championship in sequence is a concert of awesomeness. The finally of Syjo vs Slither is magical.
I really liked your guest. Here are another 2 for you both to watch and react together : 1- FROSTY VS BIZKIT GBB 21 FINALS 2- BIZKIT VS ROBIN GBB21 QUARTERFINALS
His collabs with Dlow under the name Kotcha are LEGENDARY and a great show of Frosty as a beatboxer while this shows more of his raw musicality. Yes, this is still all voice in these battles on the loopers, just obv heavily produced and practiced tracks that they're performing live.
Frosty’s second performance was epic and has gone down as an absolute legendary performance. I remember watching this live and was BLOWN away by it. It is actually his entry submission which is why people knew the track, but I still don’t think people where prepared for or expected such an amazing performance and sound live at the event. Also someone else has explained the difference between the devices, second devices and production in the comments better than I can. But your seeing years of progression in the art in your reactions over different tournaments with different equipment in what is essentially a few weeks of you watching. Looping has come on so far so quickly and what these guys are doing is just unbelievable and deserves so much more credit and exposure 👍
Theres a feature on the loopstations called silent recording, where you can record stuff but it doesnt play it in the output. It gives more of a surprise factor because you dont know whats coming. Thats how frosty usually starts off his rounds by silent recording into the MIDI sequencer which is his second device.
So at this event, after this evening of battling was over a lot of people were just saying that this battle was the finale. As in: It was of such high quality and the hype in the crowd was so unreal!! I wasn't a real fan of loopstation but since I was there for the eliminations I also automatically stayed for the loopstation and DAMN I was in love!! The live effect is even crazier than on youtube!! Even typing this, I just feel the hype again! Frosty's 2nd round was amazeballs!
I appreciate you reacting to this, but as a non-active beatbox for a decade, I can't help but mention some of the best loop station battles that I probably watch a hundred times. One of those is. PENKYX vs THORSEN | Grand Beatbox LOOPSTATION Battle 2017 | 1/4 Final These 2 are actually household names in loop station, unfortunately/fortunately, they met at the early stage of the competition. I can guarantee you, this is fire
I sometimes drop multiple comments in your vids, sorry! Bu right away I just wanna say how much I LOVE how you plug your guest's work and accolades. Like you always sound so genuinely proud of them, and it's so fckn wholesome that you build them up in this way!
This is about the 7th time I’ve watched this, not only for what is an epic battle, but I love Blitz’s reaction - you can just see the awe and absolute joy in his face whilst absorbing this epic battle and outstanding tracks these guys gave us 😀
This year they allow for the use of a second device connected to the loopstation. It has to be approved, but you can see it changes the game quite a bit. That on top of the fact that theyre both using that new mk2 device, yeah. Much harder to recognize as a live loopstation performance
For some extra context. This is mainly done using granular synthesis using the granular delay built in to the rc505. All the input sounds are made live but using the 505 as a granular synth opens up all the doors for intricate sound design
You can pre-load your settings, but everything needs to be produced on the spot. The crazy synths are pre-set effects, but it still takes a vocal input to make them go. Anyways this kind of thing is why the category was split into two: loopstation only and producer (all the extra gear).
I loved this reaction! The sounds were great and Blitz looked like a kid in a candy shop! But the most priceless thing is BP head banging with his stank face😂😂 bring on the battles!❤️🔥❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
Frosty's second round is from kickback battle which was an event during covid. There are both solos and loop station. It is amazing. Also i personally recommend bizkit or Josh O
For what to react to next, I think for the reaction flow first react to Bizkit's rounds since he does rap in some of them. But really don't miss out on Beardyman's Judge Showcase from 2019 once your done with the 2021 rounds because his showcase is absolutely spectacular and actual freestyle.
Yes this, Beardyman is actually insane. He is a pioneer of beatbox looping. If you are prepared for horrible video quality from 13 years ago search youtube for "Beardyman live in the underbelly" An hour of amazement. Also what I would class as beatbox comedy?!
Nothing can be preloaded. Everything is made live, weather its authentic or through a machine effect or second device effect. Its all made live on the spot (live altered or not) but its amazing what some of these artists can make with just their voice and a machine!
I'm so glad you reacted to it and I was cracking up seeing your reaction to frosty's second round. I'm not sure if it's already in the comments, but as a background info to rythmind: BraZ explained in a video that Rythmind found out too late that he has to make more songs than he had prepared, so he didn't have much time for the songs here. He is an amazing looper and creative too and I know he can do much better. His first Song I personally don't vibe too at all here, but I think he did a great job with the beat for the second one. I'm not sure if he would've created something that could've beat Frosty's second round, but I think if he had more time it would at least be a split decision. Frosty was quickly becoming my favourite in the GBB21 because I really love the atmosphere he created and the creativity and variety. I would suggest the final round from Frosty and Bizkit, the Solo Elimination Round from Dice, the Solo Elimination Round from Rythmind (it had me cracking up and when/if you watch it, you will probably know why), the sound there it's insane and shows how good he is at what he does. I love seeing the GGB Loopstation content here and that you enjoy watching it too
Yeah like some of the other people have said, you have to react to German Beatbox Championship 2022 and West German Championships 2023, they are both absolutely insane! And the GBB23 producer and loopstation wildcard winners are also lit 🔥
Black Pegasus!!!! Love to see the beatbox reactions. Been waiting a long time for you to hit these. You gotta do Hiss bbu wilcard. He tore up that competition
Frosty's huge synth sounds are using frequency modulation on his own voice (or static from a jack lead). The frequency modulation combined with layers of sounds pitched 5 octaves up or 7 octaves up etc can create huge sounds that sound completely digital. @Black Pegasus
the ones you already saw were pretty much all from the vocals except for the ones with sequencers. they allowed beatboxers to use second devices that are triggered by voice to be technically beatbox but it became controversial with some people. now in the new GBB, they split the categories into two, loopstation and producing. Loopstation now only allows 1 device which is the loop itself, but the new loop as well allows for sequencing but that's about it. Otherwise, it will be just beatbox with a lot of effects
Also that reaction to frostys second round was my reaction as well 😂. I’ve watched it 100 times and it never changes. I want to download that song right now!!!
No preloaded sounds, he turned audio down to start so we couldn’t hear that’s why it took a solid 10+ seconds before he started, everything is from there voice and it’s just about changing frequency’s and stuff, so talented I couldn’t do them justice but my sh*tty explanation
One thing I've always been so curious of is how Saro has adapted the new sequencer. Something tells me he has some insane stuff cooked up that's going to blow some peoples mind at one point.
pre-loaded sounds are not permitted, everything has to be manageable on stage, including adding the effects. Inky lost a round in a previous competition because he had pre-loaded sounds before
If you’re this hype about this round… Watch all of Bizkits rounds in order. It’s the most epic run of any GBB event. He is also all about the battle mentality. No fluff in his stuff. You’ll thank me later. 1st against Robin 2nd Chris Theodian 3rd Frosty

The second round of rethmynd is from motzart lacrimosea and it's crazy and madness

Yep german loopers are on another level , you should watch syjo vs mistix or syjo vs slether or lennard vs syjo
Hey Pegasus, the loopers have the freedom to manipulate the vocal samples they have using their own devices; like saturation, bitcrush etc.
the ones you already saw were pretty much all from the vocals except for the ones with sequencers. they allowed beatboxers to use second devices that are triggered by voice to be technically beatbox but it became controversial with some people. now in the new GBB, they split the categories into two, loopstation and producing. Loopstation now only allows 1 device which is the loop itself, but the new loop as well allows for sequencing but that's about it. Otherwise, it will be just beatbox with a lot of effects
you have to watch frosty vs bizkit! insane battle!
Frosty does a silent recording. He starts out by making the sounds and doing the changes and then plays it, but it is all still live.
Also that reaction to frostys second round was my reaction as well 😂. I’ve watched it 100 times and it never changes. I want to download that song right now!!!
Frostys 2nd round is probably the best sounding round ever at a GBB. Saros Semi is the best moment but musically, this round is elite.
Frosty v BizKit, absolutely banger

Glad you enjoyed it bro!
And yes they can mix in their headphones while he's got something playing
Damn frosty isn't even my favorite looper but his second round is easily my top 1 looping round of all time, that's how good it was
Next Bizkit vs Robin
pre-loaded sounds are not permitted, everything has to be manageable on stage, including adding the effects.
1st against Robin
2nd Chris Theodian
3rd Frosty
Fiiiiiiire reaction 🔥🔥🔥
Check out German Beatbox Championships 2022. Something's in the water fr, Lennard is my favourite
