I had several friends and relatives that had this style of machine back in the mid 2000's and their top complaint was loss of suction. I would take these machine apart and they'd be an absolute mess. Yeah these are relatively cheap machines (you get what you pay for), but they are very high maintenance.
Intersting pickup results for certain. Sorry the machine is bulky making it not fit well. I guess trying to measure the dust was a prime example of how much cleaner bagged machines can be. My next part is just sharing something that popped up and that I read the other day. It was about vacuuming the wrong way and said the correct way was to vacuum north and south and then east to west. Well I know that my house won't let me do that easily. Wouild be curious to see if that resulted in more dirt pickup.
There is no correct way to vacuum, only how many passes you choose to make. The more passes, the better the pickup. That said, if you're planning to make many passes (4 or more), vacuuming at right angles can help in certain circumstances.
@@VacLab I can relate as I used my 1990 Bissell Canister Steam Cleaner (self contained) to spot clean stains on the Sanctuary carpet and man was it a pain. Had it hooked to a 100 foot extension cord. I believe they use a backpack vac in our Sanctuary it would intersting to do some cleaning tests with upright that have agitation to see what comes out of that low pile rug.
