I think the box sets are a cool gift idea. Like if you knew someone that loves movies, get them one of these box sets. I know I'd love one. I have thousands of movies, but don't think I wouldn't get excited over a box set.
If do all hammer films, and other Lee, Cushing and Price films and have Vinegar Syndrome create the packaging. “I’d buy that for a dollar “ but I got them already😂
Fun idea 👍 I like all your picks. I'd buy this box set
Fun video. I love including movies that many may not know are available. A set like that need diversity. So a few more Shout Select titles maybe. I would throw in Twins and 3 O'Clock High.
Cool & fun video Ken
This is a fun video.
Starting off with Halloween 3.
5 🌟video!
I have over 40 scream factory titles all of which are films I love.
Friday the thirteenth part two I agree with you is the best out of that whole series
Fargo! Yes so glad you chose Fargo! I just got that Shout Factory release
Now I want to see someone arrange their space like the Criterion closet but intentionally fill it with terrible movies. Then make videos like they do where people tell all of these super serious and intelligent sounding stories about how meaningful The Core was to their life.
This was a fun idea. I would love to see more videos like this
We need a 4k box set for sleepaway camp.
100%
Fun video idea, Ken. I’d love to see you do this for other labels!
Enjoyed the video. Do one for Arrow Video. And I love when you wear Friday the 13th tshirts. My favorite slasher series!
You should do another one of these, maybe pick a specific actor and do a 10-15 movie collection based on that actor.
I like the idea of this video and definitely want to see you do the same thing with other labels!
My only thing I'd want for the future is perhaps a bit more planning/thought into the picks. It's cool seeing you browse through your collection but it would've been nice to hear more of an explanation for why each film should be in the boxset.
I like this type of video. Definitely like to see more of them. Arrow next!
I like this type of video, it's fun. Most Criterion fans, myself included, seem to also be wondering what the point of the box set is, so I don't know that people are really giving them a pass. You had me going on Bubba HoTep. 😂
The Criterion set is a celebration of 40 years worth of physical media. They chose some of their most popular Criterion Closet picks for the set. If you or others don't care about what the celebs that visit the Closet say about their favorites that's fine, but it's clearly done to spark conversation about some of their most popular choices..
@bergman864 Except it's not even celebrating 40 years of Criterion. As someone who's been giving Criterion money since the laserdisc days, how about thowing in a title that they haven't had since then. And don't try to tell me there wasn't one single title they couldn't have licensed again from the past for a new inclusion in this set. Also every Criterion title has been picked by someone in the closet at one point or another.
But all that aside, let's just look at it from a business standpoint. Who is this set for? Those of us who are already Criterion collectors have most everything in the set. If you're trying to introduce someone new to Criterion, who's going to pay $800 for a gift someone may not like? I can only see this appealing to that small sliver of people who have to own each and every thing Criterion releases no matter what.
If I was going to do a Criterion 40th celebration, I'd do a series of releases with a special 40th banner on them that are the most popular titles from the entire history of the collection that they can still get rights to. Hell, this set doesn't even include Citizen Kane, which was the very first title Criterion released. This is just a lazy anniversary collection with a very tiny market.
@@michelle_pgh They didn't choose 40 randomly. And this collection is about the Criterion Closet. They don't tend to have Laserdiscs in there.
Someone will buy it either because they buy everything from Criterion or it's a better deal than buying them separately. I'm not going to fault them for it.
You could do this for Vinegar Syndrome? I'd bet my entire collection without hesitation you haven't even seen 40 VS releases 😂 Maybe 20. Stop being a poser!
Can we just get the Nightmare on Elm Street 4K Deluxe Edition box set?? lol Like the Friday the 13th Deluxe edition, but on 4Ks. Each movie on their own disc, you know it.
Nawww we want it on blue ray like Halloween and Friday some peopld don’t have 4K
Fun video
Rent A Pal is VERY good. I agree.
I Love That Idea Ken That's Awesome
Cool video with you starting very strong with building a high quality set, but then you went off the rails after a while.. Outside of the great obvious choices Scream has released, , id have to have Rabid, The Final Terror, and Hell Night in the set.
Great video Ken!
Damn Ken slips with most of them nice 👍🏾
“Hilarious, a little scary and strangely poignant. Campbell's cranky, valiant, sad-sack King is a soulfully funny creation.” NEWSWEEK
This would be a fun exercise when there are sales for specific labels.

Nice Ken love the humor in the beginning
maybe instead of a 40-film collection, you do a 10-film collection with the next label and go perhaps a bit more in-depth as to why you would put those specific movies in a collection also just more time for you to talk about each movie I would assume
Cool video idea!
Warner bros did the same thing with 30 films and it didn’t sell that well because too many had most of those 4ks.
14:57 I couldn't believe I found Rent A Pal (with t
a slip cover). at Big Lots today!
You need to do a schlok box all bad movies or so bad it's good box set
Awesome collection! This video is a lot of fun to watch.
This is I lot of fun no end to the possibilities westerns action etc to me Dee Wallace is the cutest werewolf in a werewolf history
Good video! I have the Shout Factory release of Dances with Wolves and that movie would have to be included in a big Shout Factory box if I was assembling one.
The first REC is the best found footage movie of all time! (IMO). And you've probably owned it for like 3 years or more and haven't watched it lol
Ummmmmm…I’m going on 7 or 8 for some of these. Lol
@@midlevelmedia 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ lol 🤣
With the recent news you should do this for Paramount in case some of them to OOP
People love to hate on Shout just for shits and giggles! I discovered Shout back in 2016 and Teen Wolf 1 and Too was my first purchase. After that I owned over 50 Blus also and some were great. Then they started double dipping their releases for 4K and yes NOW it’s well over 100 releases for Shout/Scream and they’re my highest owned in 4K! Bottom line is stop being so negative about the physical media process period!
It's fun seeing what titles you put in a boxed set. So how much it's cost? $600?🤑
Bubba Hotep is better than Halloween III lol . I look forward to more videos like this.
I really want to see a 20 film slasher set...and maybe a 20 film horror from the 80's set....(40 could be too much)
I would never buy a Criterion box set.... there are maybe 8 movies at the most I would like from their collection.... Scream Factory might be a better set to do an Umbrella would be incredible though the cost might choke a horse
Hey, you asked and encouraged engagement! Sorry, but this video is an absolute mess Ken. The reason CC went with 40 movies is because it's their 40th Anniversary, so why 40 movies here? Also their set sticks to 1080 blu, covers all kinds of genres, countries, decades, and legendary filmmakers and is aimed at people just getting into the collection who want to try a little bit of everything Criterion has to offer. It's for new collectors who want to explore all types of film. Your supposedly curated box set is basically just you picking out a bunch of mostly random horror movies, some of which you haven't even seen, some that are sequels, some that are 4k, and some that are 1080 Blu-rays. This set truly makes no sense, is nowhere near as smart and cool as you're pretending it is, and would surely go down in history as the stupidest, most nonsensical box set ever released. The Criterion set you were ragging on is a goldmine of diverse film history and genres and looks vastly superior when compared to this lazy set a 14 year old who just started watching horror movies two years ago would have come up with. Again, sorry, but you asked. Not sure why you thought the CC set was dumb and pointless yet felt like your very low effort box set idea with such little variety was so amazing and needed to be turned into a video of you kissing your own butt over it. Incredibly odd and rather egotistical of you.
I think it was a fun video and you should do Arrow Video or Vinegar Syndrome.
I’m really trying to figure out the logic of this exercise. As you yourself stated when you announced the November slate for Criterion, you said you couldn’t imagine too many buying that 40-BR collection. I tend to agree because the price is likely going to be beyond most people’s budgets. So the first thing you do in your exercise is to make them 4Ks, thus increasing the price even higher. What are you smoking?
But more importantly, the 40 films represents 40 years of Criterion. Do you honestly think Scream Factory been around 40 years?
I can understand the need to come up with ideas for an episode, but this is definitely one of the most half-baked ideas!
Just for fun Will. Next time I’ll bake it at 380 degrees for 40 minutes.
Being in Australia I have to import a lot of movies...Scream/Shout have been the most frustrating to buy so many scratched discs. Loose discs in cases almost every order i even had a fake copy of Darkman delivered from Amazon someone must of returned a fake and kept the original
Ken you leave out The Thing. This could have included Shout's 4K release and topped off the set. Plus Night of the Creeps would have been my pick.
Picking Critters 3 over 2 is criminal
Nice idea. But, I would not buy a 40 movie collection from any company or boutique label. Anything above 6, I'm out.
The omen 2 I am disappointed in you, Ken. The third film was the best out of all of them Sam. Neal is the balls in that movie!
I did your box set I wouldn't put bubba either I would put army of darkness in though
Of course Streets of Fire reminds you of The Warriors... both movies were directed by Walter Hill.
Ohhhh yeeeaaahh. Lol
If you did the 40 film collection, question.......how much would it cost? Your picks look like a $400 cost. That would be too much for my blood.
I'd never pay for a 40 film criterion collection. There is no way they have my top 40 in there I might not even scratch theirs.
Elvis is in a geriatric care centre with JFK (who's black) and he's got to kick some ancient Mummy ass. What else is there to say? JASON GORBER

Critters 3 🤣
Yall actually watch these movies or just buy them for content ? The amount of movies yall buy is unreal.
What? No Bubba Ho Tep? 😢
Lol
Why should we build a collection based on labels and not the titles that interest us?
Ask Criterion. Lol
@@midlevelmedia nah he’s asking you….you did make a 20+ minute video on the subject after all . . .
@@jaysony8587 Pretty obvious and I stated it in the opening. I was playing off of what Criterion just did with their 40-film Boxset. Just for fun.
You do realize he did this for fun and in response to Criterion’s 40 collection right? That was the point of the video. You understand that right?
@@kingmufasa1688 I feel like “Fun” is sometimes lost on people. Lol
Is my math bad or is there 39?
Final photo was missing one accidentally. No one was supposed to notice. 😬

Tuo vitsi on juossut kuiviin. Aivan kuin nörttivitsejä. That joke is turning a little cringe already.
The Thinner is directed by Tom Holland aka Spiderman 😮😳🤔
@@donjaun540 AKA Director of Fright Night and Child’s Play. Different dude. Lol
I think 🤔 this is a fantasy land video. I highly doubt a company would do this unless it's a going out of business deal. 😳
