  • Hi fam, I've decided to learn Portuguese this year! This is my Day 0 Portuguese Benchmark video of me speaking broken Portuguese (just started learning). I plan to use this initial video of me speaking Portuguese as a benchmark to compare against months and years in the future as a part of documenting my Portuguese language learning journey.
I know there are lots of polyglot youtubers out there making Learn Portguese in 7 days or in 30 days type videos, but that's not going to be possible for me (crazy youtuber polyglots and their challenges!). I'm only planning to dabble in Portuguese this year, maybe do a little DuoLingo and watch some TH-cam videos. Still, it'll be interesting to see what kind of Portuguese progress I can make this year despite only studying it on the side.
If you have any Portuguese resource recommendations, I'd love to learn about them. I haven't decided between learning Brazilian Portuguese or European Portuguese yet, but most of the initial resources I've been using have been leaning towards Brazilian Portuguese. Let me know in the comments below which Portuguese resources I should use to study Portuguese!
I'm excited to see if there are any changes to my portuguese in 6 months to 1 year. Stay tuned for more Portuguese language updates and good luck to everyone with their language learning goals this year!

What do y’all think? Should I focus on Brazilian Portuguese or Portuguese from Portugal? 🤔

Hi Kevin! I'm glad you started with Portuguese finally! Did you finally decide to study Brazilian Portuguese? I think so because of some grammar decisions and the pronunciation. Speaking Spanish is a double-edged sword! It can help you a lot but at the same time it makes it harder to correct mistakes and master the language. Good luck! Enjoy the journey, Portuguese is a very beautiful language!

I haven’t decided yet 🙈. Some of the earliest resources I’ve used was Brazilian Portuguese focused, but I’m still open to either. I know more Brazilian people here but I feel like I have more opportunities to visit Portugal than Brazil so it’s hard to decide.

@@lingokev take your time to decide! If you need some help or advice just let me know. I do study Portuguese from Portugal and I know it's hard to find resources but I found a few during my journey that helped me a lot!

Wow, that's a really cool video!! If you want to learn Portuguese, the Brazilian one is the most wide spoken by people, which it would be really easy to find resourses (books, songs, novelas, etc) to learn it. But, if you wanna/would go to Portugal or some countries in Africa, learning their accent would be better.
