I used to watch Yankee games for free when I was a kid on WPIX Channel 11. Once the Yankees became pay TV, that was it. No longer followed MLB but I've always loved Phil Rizzuto. God bless his soul.
as a young boy from NJ, I used to pass by Mr. Rizzuto's house at all the time, thinking that today is the lucky day to see Mr. Phil Rizzuto. but years passes and I only saw his blue Jag on his driveway. I always wanted to knock on his door, yet I didn't want to be that guy! leave the man alone unless he is outside.. as usual, I was passing by his house one day, and it happened! there he was, the scooter himself, and he was about get into his blue Jag... i instantly hopped out of my bike and Yelled "Hi Mr. Rizzuto!" and I waved to him with a big smile! and he turned around and waved back to me with a beautiful smile of his. I was soooooo happy to see him in person. Thanks for the memories Mr. Rizzuto! I will continue to tell this story to many more years.
After a Yankee game in the late '60's, I was with a carload of friends sitting in traffic outside the stadium in bumper to bumper traffic. No air conditioning, sweating to death. I hear a familiar voice in the car next to us say to us "Holy cow how 'bout those Yankees." We looked and it was the Scooter behind the wheel of a white Mustang. We lost our minds.

Holy Cow. Loved Phil Rizzuto as a player and announcer. A true Yankee.
Holy cow, there will never be another Scooter. He epitomized all that was good about the game, and carried himself with class.
I'll still missed the Scooter till this day 😪
