Binge listening to these. Wonderful entertainment. When I think how all the people behind these radio shows are long dead. Wish they could know that in 2024 these are still so good and well done and throughly enjoyable
J. Carrol Naish also expertly played an immigrant father figure in 1946's Joan Crawford vehicle, "Humoresque." What a talented actor! Thanks for this episode.
What a moving Suspense episode. Powerful. They don't come much more sentimental than this one. 😔 I have been listening to Suspense since I was a little boy. I've laughed -- been inspired -- been angry -- been relieved -- been amused --- been shocked at some of the suspense plot endings. But I don't think a Suspense episode has ever made me cry.
Air Date:07.12.1945 ( July 12, 1945) Plot:+ "Footfalls". Sponsored by: Roma Wines. A good story about a blind cobbler and his no-good son who refuses to work. J. Carroll Naish is excellent with a Portuguese dialect. The story has a good surprise ending. + Bowes is a blind man who worked as a shoemaker and had been too easy on his weak son Manuel since his mother died. Despite his blindness Bowes could tell about a person by the sound of his footstep. One day a bank clerk came to lodge with him and brought some gold home for safekeeping and Manuel overhears him telling his father this. Later there is a fire and a body is found but it is no accident it appears to be murder. www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/thriller/suspense/footfalls-1945-07-12

Have I ever listened to a bad Suspense episode? Not likely ...
