    That came out great! I dig the use of the prototyping board as the replacement screen totally completes the look IMO.

      Yea it super weirdly worked way better this way. Kinda glad the screen melted

    Ha! The exact same thing happened to the plastic screen on my Grados when I last took them apart! Great video!

    That turned out really good! The only criticism I have is that I didn't get to see it on Thure's beautiful boi hair. Sad Clint is sad.
    I really want to do this to mine now too! Especially the wireless mod!

    You forgot to add the retro cat ears to complete the look

      I always say, he's around doing something. Usually behind the scenes but this time front and center

    Love the video Great Job I like what you did with the Jacks as well. Thanks for taking them apart and showing us the inside I always wondered what they looked like on the inside. I just got a pair of these (sr-80e) I love them I only wish they were over the ear cans. Have you ever tried to make them over the ears kind of headphones? I was thinking about trying to come up with something like that my self but, that will be further down the road for me when they really get used.. I guess it takes a while to break them in? but to me they sound great. Anyway Nice work.

      Thanks! At the end of the video I show the large earpads in the final shots, they pretty much turn grados into over the ear types. If you search for "Grado G cushion" you should be able to find some. I got a $10 set on ebay and im really happy with them.

    I have these same headphones. Might have to give it a shot. I’m also really interested in the removable cable mod!

    • @WhenGeeksCraft
      @WhenGeeksCraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a game changer. It's so nice to be able to disconnect the cables when necessary

    • @AdamIannazzone
      @AdamIannazzone 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WhenGeeksCraft Yeah - I especially get annoyed with the plastic y-piece. The cable ends above it always get twisted in a weird way.

    I really like the new look! How's the sound? Any change?

    • @WhenGeeksCraft
      @WhenGeeksCraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not too much different but they fit and feel better. Cousion on the top is much more comfortable and the ear pads fit much nicer

    • @xtraply
      @xtraply 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is awesome. Too many times we just want to throw away something old and buy something new. This video has definitely inspired me to do something with the stuff I already have. Thank you!

    Hope Grado don't see this video and copy your style of design and charge even more for it. It looks more premium than the original. Kudos on your mod.

    Super good looking! Don’t think I wouldn’t notice those precision 1-2-3 blocks that were in there for a split second! :P I’m curious why you have 123 blocks, but I’m sure they come in handy for more than just machining, like I use them for. Very precise blocks

    • @WhenGeeksCraft
      @WhenGeeksCraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have them because they are great for holding things down and they are insanely straight/accurate.

    Hey how much did the new ear cups change the weight of the headphone? Also 8 monthes out is it still alive?

    • @WhenGeeksCraft
      @WhenGeeksCraft  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still alive and not too much weight change. They were almost identical in weight. I still use these head phones in my rotation.
