After watching the behind the scenes with the girls and staff, the wins that Abby's studio gets don't seem so amazing knowing now that a majority of these weren't actual competitions but invitationals that dance moms show set up for the girls. Also makes more sense why the girls always seem to win and how Abby's favorite always gets first
Yeah I wonder, apparently Season 1& season 2 are all real competitions bc that was also before dance moms became really popular, season 3 & season 4 are a mix of real competition & invitationals that the show organised and from season 5 & upwards is all invitationals made by the show bc it became so popular (also think they wouldn't win so much in real competitions when they were older bc when they were young in 2011, they were really good for their age and time but the older the less)
@@Lexi2015-fyes, although seasons 1-3 were all real based on many of the cast members testimonies and most of season 4, season 5 was a mix and season 6-7 were pretty much entirely invitationals, I do however find it strange how people use maddie as an example when saying "abbys favourite always wins" when maddie is actually the only girl who was still winning outside the show at almost every single competition she went to.

You’ll notice throughout this season that when others are wearing Abby Lee merch, Chloe isn’t with the exception of a team jacket sometimes. She was only here because her and Christi were under the shows contract. Christi refused to sign Abby’s new contract because one of the clauses was about gaining or losing weight…for a GROWING child. I felt so bad for Chloe this season, the madness she was put through was just straight barnacles
And Abby knew Chloe couldn’t leave the show. She said during an interview “I knew I could say whatever I wanted to a certain girl on the show, because they had to put up with it and couldn’t do anything about it.”
Season 4 and on are insane! Chloe, Brooke, and Paige really get the brunt of Abby this season and it’s so sad and frustrating. Like it’s awful how blatant Abby’s favoritism is. A whole cake for Maddy winning nationals???! That’s got to be production😂

Maddie is an undeniably talented dancer, but I’ve got to wonder if she spent the break between seasons getting lessons from another teacher. Same with Nia. Because I’m sorry but Abby doesn’t seem to teach technique, ever (she just seems to teach routines/choreo) and both of their techniques have improved massively.
@@BradEvans21 from what I understand, this is the case. We sometimes see B-roll of other teachers at ALDC so there's very likely a dedicated technique teacher.
From what I understand from listening to Back to the Barre, the girls got very few classes due to the shows insane schedule. Maddie and Mackenzie got a lot because they were homeschooled, or Melissa would take Maddie for instance out of school for an hour for a private.
they are not allowed to do that per the contract theyre under for being in the ALDC. its an abby rule and they 'break' it in later seasons and its a whole thing i remember
I'd love to clarify something- Gianna, Abby's assistant, actually does all the choreography, Abby does none of it. And Gianna listens to the type of dance, music and moves the producers want. So, Abby actually choreographs amazing, according to Kelly and a few others, but she just never does. ALSO, the girls had actually already learnt "Girls Night Out", without Payton! They had actually done it with a girl named Sarah (joins later). AND Kendall, Kenzie and Nia all got cakes in the weeks to come, tho never shown. ANDDDDDDD Nia actually got 4th, They just never showed it.

It’s so nice to hear another adult acknowledge that children need breaks and that pushing them too hard is unhealthy behavior. So many parents today are in the mindset of keeping their kids busy to keep them out of trouble, which is total bullshit. But I used to get so much hate from other parents when my son was younger because I didn’t have him at an activity every single minute of his life.
I also totally agree on Lucas. He’s a great dancer but the turned in non pointed feet made me CRINGE through it all. The right choreographer could make him look like the amazing dancer he is. But this was NOT it 😬🫣

I feel like one of the reasons Nias technique wasn’t up to par with the rest of the girls in the earlier seasons was because of that summer she spent in the hospital. Holly talks about it in season three (I think) when Paige and Nia have the Wallflower and Wildchild duet.

Just a thing about the cake which isnt confirmed but it higly likely considering circumstances and the solo name is that it was probably a birthday cake, the competition was on the 12th of october 2013 lets say the cake was a week before that means it was given to maddie 5 days after her birthday so the writing was probably the producers cause abby was literally reading the cake

Ok, I LOVE Maddie. She is undoubtedly amazing and a wonderful dancer. But I have one pet peeve and I need to say it to someone who I know will understand. I’ve grown up dancing in one of the best known ballet technical studios in my area, I have my BFA in dance, and I’ve been teaching dance for 14 years. I’ve seen “mom goggles” first hand with not just moms, but with certain teachers in my past also. They don’t see their favorite dancers flaws. Abby did Maddie such a disservice to not correct her coupé placement whenever Maddie does coupé turns. IT DRIVES ME NUTTY!!! This isn’t a critique on Maddie AT ALL. She’s a child. This is a critique on Abby and her being a horrible human being. Ok, rant over. Thank you for coming to my ted talk 😂

Also I notice that as well when Kendall did Demand Applause that the stage was sticky, wearing jazz shoes (not a big fan like doesn't really help with flat footed turns maybe all demi but not flat footed turns) and also where her support is for her balance was off. (I'm looking at a dancers point of view) Reasons for why Abby Lee is being a stuck up to Chloe was because the Lukasiaks didn't sign the new contract which I don't blame Chloe or Christi for because its based upon body image (can't gain certain amount of weight, certain amount of height etc.) which is really toxic. This is where I hate Abby for when it comes to her favouritosm towards Maddie the birthday cake is only a start with in my opinion the worst way her favouritism went out of control. Her isolating Chloe from group activities, where we won't see 3 of the originals due to either arguments between a mother and Abby (when Kalani got introduced ) or Abby bullying someone about their eyes (end of s4 the production decided to say that this dancer is washed up) and where soon would be constant in s5, s6 and s7 Abby leaves during the competitions (but this season was valid because we find out about Abby's mother health). (I know that the You Can Be Anything solos was utter dumb and screwy back s3 but s4 there's a whole list of what Abby did for favoritism Maddie). But at the same time, Abby was dealing with family's health issues which ends really sadly for her mom. 🕊️ Sorry if there are some spoilers for later on. 😢
