The universe is permeated with the odor of kerosene I was walking down the street at night, Thinking in my mind that my life was right, The moon came up and I looked around, The street lights were on nowhere around. My eyes were dark and my heart beat fast, I knew that my dark side could not last My eyes were dark and my heart beat fast, I knew that my dark side could not last It was dark as it could be, A deep sea diver could not see, Cars were driving with high beam, You couldn't even tell if Mr. Clean was clean. I lit a match and I walked on home, My night side dark time cold and alone, Walked in my door and to my surprise, I had sunglasses on my eyes
Please forgive me, but what does Gretely means? I'm not mother tongue and I didn't succed in finding a sense in this word..Do someone can help me? Thanks very much
From Wikipedia: "The unusual title is taken from a 1942 mystery thriller written by J. B. Priestley called The Blackout At Gretley. Gerry Gabel had been reading it and had the book with him at a rehearsal, so with a few minor changes, it inspired the name of the song." So, Gretely is the name of a fictional town...
Just discovered this, after I looked up J B Priestley because I went to his local pub and the church where his ashes are buried, at the head of a dale in Yorkshire (Hubberholme) - then read he had written this book and of course remembered the song.
@@w.g.hunter1300 You were lucky. Whatever article that quote is from, they seem to have deleted it by now. Can find nothing at all about this song or band on Wikipedia, only that it was on one of the "Nuggets" compilations.
this band are quality they are the real deal,i like thousands of underground acts from the 60s,but i dont want to hear music digitally remastered on vinyl i want the full sound spectrum with totally separate sound levels,so this is one vinyl lover saying back off with your inferior digital tech vinyl reissues.every digital reissue has criminal multiple overdubs & inferior sonic,s every original vinyl release is far superior.respect musical history this is the sound with separation generation.so dont pointlessly replace the only format that can be true to musical history with a carbon copy of the inferior mid range only cd great post great band ..
Interesting point, which I very much agree with. In this instance I assumed that this is an unadulterated Vinyl to digital transcription, I may be wrong. There are many examples of the original record labels that have attempted to restore their own master tapes (degraded, 35 yrs old. e.t.c) and ended up with it sounding like a bag of shit compared to the Vinyl pressings. Vinyl is less prone to frequency/phase response or amplitude level degradation over time. Thanks.
I'm all for re-mastering, but not when playing it back out to vinyl. The pressing plants and the digital re-mastering studios often don't adhere to technical standards, and especially not the same standards, so there's a lot of messing up involved in the conversion process when playing it back out to analogue.

Cool guys!
Always cracks me up this song. Love it.
This should be in the Dictionary under the word Punk
Don't get much better than this!
This is where it all began….
After the big bang and the dinosaurs of course
I’m hearing early Pink Floyd and Hawkwind a year or more before they existed! Innovators!

I just wanted to thank you for your politeness, and genuine wanting to learn about music. Some are not so gracious in their comments . Bless you 🙏
