  • 03 ~ This week we took our camper canopy to our wiring wizard mates at Accelerate Auto Electrics on the Sunny Coast and upgraded the battery set up with Enerdrive’s Traveller 4wd offgrid solution.
As we will be working and touring out of our new tiny home while we embark across Australia, we wanted to make it offgrid, practical and comfortable.
Massive thanks to Andrew, Jeff + the team from @Accelerate Auto Electrics & Air Conditioning for wiring us up.
(And also allowing us to pinch some tools to wire up our boat's second battery)
Massive thanks to Chris, Remi + the team from @Enerdrive - Driving Your Energy Needs for help bringing this offgrid dream to life.

Andrew and the guys do great work there. We are getting our van off grid with them. Watching the solar panel install I would be concerned fitting an Anderson plug under the panels instead of using the connectors they come with. They are weather proof and the Anderson is not. You will get poor connection eventually as the weather does its job on the terminals. Anderson plugs are self cleaning if plugged and unplugged on a regular basis. You will need to get up on the roof and do this every so often to avoid voltage loss. And I agree with another comment regarding the gland nut they have used to insert cable down through the roof. There are better options that allow the cable to lay flat as they go through the roof. They are available through a caravan accessory store. Keep the vids coming on the build, very interesting as it gives others who follow the channel ideas if they are going on a similar path. A thumbs up from me.

Build is mint guys. Even though you don’t need to be qualified to install the plug and play wiring. I would recommend getting a sparkie (240v electrician) to test it for you. Make sure that RCD works as it should and the wiring is all good. I’m a qualified sparkie and have installed those types of wiring setups for years and I can tell you sometimes they can have issues even when brand new.
It shouldn’t cost any more than a standard call out or one hour Labour.

Love it NMN it’s coming up a treat 👍 Did you fit an extra Anderson plug in case you want to connect a portable solar panel to the solar reg? It will come in handy should you need a bit of extra solar on cloudy days or parked in a shaded spot👍

Thats 50 hour fridge run time if you fridge was on continously. It should be 4 to 5 times longer than that in practice.

Hi no moss nomads with your everdrive system all the wiring would have been done by everdrive, except main batterie cable. Was that a Benatec 12v tent.

Anyone else cringe at the completely ridiculous way to use an angle grinder with a cutting disc, no gloves, no guard, cutting backwards. Insanity. Sick setup but haha.
