Yes, the 123GT had overdrive as standard equipment. You can see the lever on the right side of the steering wheel, similar to the turn signal indicator lever on the left hand side, that's the overdrive.
If you are a purist the GT is the holy grail. I prefer a daily driver with a B20 2.6 liter Fuel injection, reinforced Ford T9, power steering, AC, 200 plus HP any day. This is what i am building right now. I am not a purist, i like the body of the Amazon. the rest is game and open for improvement. I love the Amazon body, do not like the engine output numbers. I want to have fun.
To my knowledge only the early ones, year model 1957, had the "Amazon" badge on the front fenders. I think from 1958 they changed it to "Volvo 121", "Volvo 122S".
Allways that bloody music when the engine starts..I want to hear the sound of the engine,not music..I have music on my stereo at home and can put it on whenever I want..this is something that goes nearly everytime in motorprograms..I hate it.!As a motornerd I want to hear the sounds of the engines,not of the musicbox.!😡
Thanks for the comment. In the Maserati episode we made sure to turn the music off during parts of the ride! This time we didn't focus on the motor sound quite as much. (It's very hard to get good quality sound recordings of moving cars). But we will keep this in mind for the future!

Brakeboster was for them with disc brake -65. Amazon had drums upp to 1964.
dream car for me , i almost bought one once in lake bluff illinois 1990s for low sum but I didnt have the funds.
