I recently watched some crazy Luca lower clips, including him doing 4 revolution "Szymo Lemmens Around The World". However, as we can see in this battle, sit down technique plays a big role. Erlend is clearly not the best lower freestyler but he dominates because of sit down technique. Credits to Jesse, Tobias, Pat Shaw and Denis too, they're also good at sit downs.
Don't underestimate the power of transitions that changed battle freestyle forever after Erlend became world champion in 2016. Granted sits seem to get more battles won then uppers but that's because most battle freestylers don't focus on getting a high upper level. (Just fast flow with sometimes a creative bounce or stall but no creative combo's, variety and using both sides.) Denis, Pats and Tobias's sits are not that good imo (compared to Jesse and Erlend or wpsc level guys) they do have great transitions tho.
