Don't worry about your current scores in mocks (15-20), it’s all part of the process. The key is consistency and improvement with every mock. Keep applying the strategies, and gradually you'll see a difference in both your approach and your scores.
Just make sure you're analyzing each mock test deeply-see where you're losing marks and focus on those areas. Work on time management, revise concepts regularly, and keep a positive mindset. You've got this! 💪🏼

      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Hey Keshav! I’m really happy to hear that you’re starting your VARC prep with a solid plan. Your dedication is amazing! Setting the goal of 3 RCs and 5 VA questions daily, along with sectionals, is a great strategy to build consistency and skill.
As you stick to this schedule, focus on:
Analyzing Mistakes: Spend time understanding why you got certain questions wrong. This is crucial for improvement.
Tracking Progress: Keep a log of your scores and see how you're improving over time. Even small gains will motivate you!
Mixing Difficulty Levels: Try solving RCs of different difficulty levels so you’re prepared for any kind of passage on CAT day.
I’m sure with your hard work, you’ll be adding a "2" or maybe even a "3" in front of that score soon! Keep the momentum going, and I’m rooting for you! 💪📚

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi Aryan! Thanks for your question and for supporting the channel! 😊
You're absolutely right-reading all RC passages in the CAT can be time-consuming, and time management is crucial. Here's a strategy that can help you choose the right RC passage without wasting much time:
      1. Look at the Question Types:
Quickly glance at the questions to see if they are direct or inference-based. Direct questions might be easier and quicker to answer than inference-based ones, which require deep understanding.
      2. Check for Familiar Topics:
If the topic is something you're comfortable with or familiar, it might be easier to comprehend quickly. For example, if you’ve read a lot about economics or technology, passages on these subjects could be a better bet.
      3. Look for Clear Structure:
Skim for passages that seem to have a clear, logical structure. If you can identify the main idea quickly, the passage might be easier to follow and answer questions on.
      4. Avoid Passages with Dense Language:
If you notice a lot of technical terms, complex sentence structures, or unfamiliar jargon, it might be a good idea to skip that passage for now. These types of passages often take more time to process.
By using this approach, you can select passages that are easier and more comfortable for you, saving valuable time for other sections. Hope this helps, Aryan! 😊

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Hi Anurag! Thank you so much for your comment and for supporting the channel! 😊
I completely understand your situation-scoring in that range can feel frustrating, especially in sections like VA & RC where every option might seem correct. Don’t worry, this is a common hurdle, and with the right approach, you can definitely improve! Here are a few strategies that might help:
      1. Focus on Accuracy First, Not Attempts:
It’s tempting to increase the number of attempts to get a higher score, but in VA-RC, accuracy matters more than quantity. Instead of trying to attempt every question, focus on attempting fewer questions with high accuracy. This will immediately reduce negative marking and boost your score.
      2. Develop an Elimination Strategy:
When all options seem correct, it's important to develop a systematic elimination approach:
Look for extreme options (e.g., words like "always," "never," etc.). In VA-RC, extreme statements are often wrong.
Find subtle differences between options and relate them back to the tone of the passage or the author’s argument.
Re-read tricky sentences in the passage to clarify any doubts when two options seem very close.
      3. Understand the Question Types:
In RC, some questions (like inference-based or tone questions) can be more confusing than others. Practice identifying the type of question (factual, inference, tone, etc.) and develop specific strategies for each.
For Para jumbles, try focusing on connectors or logical flow in sentences (keywords that link sentences together).
      4. Active Reading:
When reading RCs, develop the habit of active reading-try to summarize the passage as you go and mentally map out the structure (main argument, supporting points, etc.). This will help you understand the passage better and choose the right answers more confidently.
      5. Analyze Your Mocks in Depth:
After every mock, don’t just look at the score-analyze your mistakes in detail. See which type of questions you're getting wrong and why. Are you getting tricked by close options? Are there certain RC topics where you're struggling more? This will help you identify specific weak areas.
      6. Take Short Breaks:
While practicing, try to take short breaks after each passage or section. This will help you maintain focus and reduce mental fatigue, which can be a cause of making all options look similar after a while.
      7. VA Tip - Think of Logical Transitions:
For Verbal Ability, especially in Para Summary and Odd Sentence Out, look for logical transitions or flow in the argument. Sometimes, thinking about how one sentence logically leads to another helps in narrowing down the right answer.
Be patient with yourself and stick with consistent practice-improvement in VA-RC takes time, but it’s definitely achievable! You’re already doing the right thing by analyzing your performance. Keep it up, Anurag!

      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 It really motivates me to hear that you find the explanations helpful.
Regarding your RC scores, it's great that you've been solving RC99 up to medium level difficulty and scoring well there. It's normal to hit a plateau or face challenges when you transition to more difficult RCs, like those in Cracku. Here are a few suggestions to help you get back on track:
      1. Analyze Your Mistakes in Detail:
Go back to the questions where you lost marks and try to understand if it’s a comprehension issue, misinterpretation of the question, or maybe overthinking.
Sometimes, focusing too much on small details leads to confusion. Instead, focus on the main idea and tone of the passage.
      2. Break Down the RC Passages:
Structure the Passage: Identify how the passage is organized-what's the introduction, the main argument, supporting ideas, and conclusion. This helps in answering the big-picture questions better.
Author’s Intent: Pay close attention to what the author is trying to convey. Is the author being critical, supportive, or neutral? Identifying the tone helps a lot in RCs.
      3. Timed Practice:
Cracku daily RCs might be tougher or have stricter time constraints. Try practicing under a strict time limit to train your brain to process information faster.
Set a timer when you attempt RCs to simulate the test pressure, but always ensure that accuracy comes before speed initially.
      4. Stick to the Basics:
Don’t overcomplicate things. Often, we start second-guessing ourselves on harder passages, but sticking to your fundamental strategies (like eliminating extreme options, focusing on author’s tone) can bring clarity.
Keep practicing daily and review your progress regularly. If you need further guidance or help on specific passages, feel free to ask. You've got this! 🙌

Hey Ansh! 😊 Thank you for reaching out. I totally understand the stress you're feeling with only 72 days left, but don't worry-you can still make great progress!
Honestly, there are no "pro tips" or magic tricks to suddenly boost your score. What will really help is consistently following the strategy shared in the video. Here’s a breakdown of what you can do:
Focus on Strategy: The techniques in the video for approaching VARC, especially in terms of comprehension and elimination, can be a game-changer. Stick to those strategies and practice regularly.
Read Daily: VARC is all about comprehension, so make sure you're reading editorials, opinion pieces, or articles that challenge you. The more familiar you get with complex texts, the better your understanding will become.
Mock Tests & Analysis: Keep practicing through mocks and spend time analyzing what went wrong in your attempts. Figure out where you’re losing marks-whether it's in misinterpreting the passage or getting stuck on tricky options.
Accuracy Over Attempts: Try not to focus on doing too many questions. Instead, aim to get fewer questions right with higher accuracy. If you can consistently do 13-14 questions with full concentration, your score will naturally improve.
Keep practicing and stay calm, Ansh! Trust the process, and you’ll definitely see results. 😊 You've got this!

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey Praveen! 😊 Thanks for your comment and for sharing your experience. Scoring 22.5 without preparation is still a good base to build on! Since you can only dedicate 2 hours a day, it's important to make the most of that time. Here’s how you can structure it:
Focus on Weak Areas: Identify where you struggled the most last year-whether it's VARC, DILR, or QA. Spend more time on your weak areas, but don’t ignore your strengths. Consistent improvement in your weakest section can give you a significant score boost.
Stick to a Strategy: Follow a clear strategy like the one shared in the video. Make sure your study time is divided between solving practice problems, reviewing concepts, and taking mocks. Even with 2 hours a day, following a solid plan can make a difference.
Mock Tests: Try to take at least one mock test every weekend and use the weekdays to review it thoroughly. Analyze where you're losing marks and focus on improving accuracy. Time management and question selection are key.
Daily Practice: Use one hour for practice questions and the other hour for reviewing concepts and analyzing mistakes. Consistent daily practice will help sharpen your skills and improve your speed over time.
Quality over Quantity: With limited study time, focus on understanding concepts deeply rather than rushing through topics. Quality practice will help you tackle even tricky questions confidently.
You can absolutely make great strides with 2 hours a day if you stay disciplined and stick to a structured approach.

My problem lies with understanding, I noticed my low skill in connecting the logic, and tone of the author. So from now, i am focusing on this part (any suggestions on how to improve this) after posting this comment i am gonna attempt my 4th RC keeping all these mistakes in mind.

      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hey Krush! First of all, I really appreciate your dedication to improving your RC performance. It’s great that you’re self-aware and actively working on understanding the logic and tone of the author-that’s a huge step forward!
Here are some tips that might help you as you focus on these areas:
      1. Active Reading Practice
While reading an RC passage, ask yourself questions like:
What is the main point the author is trying to convey?
Is the tone neutral, critical, supportive, or something else?
What are the arguments or examples used to support the author’s viewpoint?
Regularly practice with editorials, opinion pieces, and articles from sources like The Hindu, The Guardian, or The Economist. Focus on identifying the central argument and tone in every article.
      2. Break Down the Passage
Instead of rushing through an RC, break the passage into smaller chunks and summarize each paragraph in your own words. This helps you connect the flow of ideas and improves your overall comprehension.
      3. Look for Key Words
Key words like "however," "but," and "therefore" indicate shifts in the author’s argument or conclusion. These words can give you clues about the logical structure and help in understanding the author's stance.
      4. Tone & Attitude Questions
Pay attention to adjectives and the overall mood the author creates. If the passage uses strong adjectives (e.g., "remarkable," "shocking"), it usually indicates the author's tone. With practice, you’ll get better at identifying whether the author is positive, critical, or neutral.
      5. Review Your Mistakes
After every RC, spend time reviewing the wrong answers. Ask yourself, why was this answer incorrect? What was the author’s real point that I missed? This reflection is crucial for long-term improvement.
Since you're already on track with your focus, I’m confident you’ll see great progress soon. Come back on the 30th and share your improvements-I'll be rooting for you! 🙌

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi there! Thanks for your question and for supporting the channel! 😊
It's completely understandable to be concerned about your graduation year, but rest assured, the gap after graduation doesn’t automatically have a negative impact on your IIM calls. Here’s what you should focus on:
      1. Explain Your Gap Effectively:
During the interview, if asked, be prepared to explain what you were doing during the gap years. If you’ve gained work experience, developed skills, prepared for competitive exams, or pursued any certifications, this will show that you used your time productively.
Even if you weren’t working or studying, being honest about your situation (such as personal reasons, health, etc.) and showing what you’ve learned from that experience is what matters.
      2. Highlight Your Strengths:
Your CAT score, academic records, work experience (if any), and extracurricular activities carry more weight. The IIM selection process is holistic, meaning they look at the complete profile, not just the gap in education.
Focus on showing your strengths-your skills, leadership experiences, and why you want to pursue an MBA. If your CAT score is strong, that will also significantly increase your chances.
      3. Gap Year Isn’t Uncommon:
Many candidates take a gap year to prepare for the CAT or due to other reasons, and IIMs are aware of this. As long as you have a logical explanation and you’ve made productive use of that time, it won’t hinder your chances.
      4. Prepare for Interview Questions:
IIM interviewers might ask about the gap, so prepare a confident and clear answer that focuses on your personal growth, learnings, and any skills or experiences you’ve gained during that time.
In summary, having completed your graduation in 2019 doesn’t automatically reduce your chances. As long as you have a strong profile and can explain your gap positively, you'll still have a solid chance at getting IIM calls.

hey, i wanted to ask if i am preparing full time, how many rcs should i practise in a day because right now even tho my hold on english language is fine, my accuracy in RCs is really horrible. I gave a sectional and got only 6 questions correct, i feel like i lose focus while reading in between

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi! It’s great that you’re preparing full-time and already have a decent hold on the English language. The challenge with RCs (Reading Comprehension) is very common, especially with focus and accuracy, but don’t worry-it can definitely be improved with a structured approach!
Since you're preparing full-time, here's a plan you can follow:
      1. How Many RCs to Practice Daily?
3-4 RCs per day: Start with this number. It’s manageable and allows enough time for analyzing your mistakes without burning out.
Gradually increase to 5-6 RCs per day as you become more comfortable, but focus on quality over quantity. You don’t want to rush through them.
      2. Improving Focus While Reading
Active reading: While reading the passage, engage with the text. Ask yourself, "What is the author's main argument?" or "What is the tone here?" This will help you stay alert throughout the passage.
Summarize in your mind: After each paragraph, quickly summarize what you've read. This ensures you retain key points and prevents you from zoning out midway.
Highlight keywords: If possible, note down or mentally highlight important phrases, transitions, or points. This keeps your focus sharp and makes it easier to refer back to them during questions.
      3. Addressing Accuracy
Don’t rush: Accuracy dips when we rush to complete RCs. Spend more time understanding the passage rather than skimming it. A slight increase in reading time can greatly improve your comprehension.
Eliminate wrong options: Even when you're unsure of the right answer, focus on eliminating clearly wrong choices. This improves your chances significantly.
Practice inference-based questions: Many RC questions are inference-based and tricky. Practice these specifically, as they require you to read between the lines.
      4. Analyze Every RC:
After solving an RC, take time to thoroughly analyze the questions you got wrong:
Was it a misinterpretation of the passage?
Did you lose focus and miss a key point?
Was it a trap option that seemed correct but wasn’t?
      5. Sectional Tests:
Keep giving sectional tests once or twice a week. They help track your progress and simulate the pressure of the real exam.
Stay patient, and keep working on your focus and analysis. With time, you’ll definitely see your accuracy improve. You've got this! 😊

Hey bhaia, how to detect and analyze mistakes (can u give eg.s and types)

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey Ayushi! 😊 Thanks for reaching out!
Detecting and analyzing mistakes is super important to improve your scores in CAT. Let me break it down with examples and types of mistakes that students commonly make:
      1. Conceptual Mistakes:
Example: Suppose in a quant question, you're solving a geometry problem, but you apply the wrong theorem (like using the Pythagoras theorem when it’s a question about similar triangles).
How to Analyze: Go back to the basics of that topic. Revisit the formula/theory and try solving simpler problems first. This ensures you don’t repeat this conceptual error in the future.
      2. Calculation Errors:
Example: You calculated 5% of 240 as 15 when it should be 12.
How to Analyze: Check if you’re rushing through the question or not writing down intermediate steps. Practice mental math and be more careful during mocks.
      3. Reading/Interpretation Mistakes:
Example: In a RC passage, the question asks for "the main idea," but you end up answering based on minor details from the passage.
How to Analyze: Re-read the question and ensure you understand what is being asked. Summarize the question in your own words before answering.
      4. Time Management Mistakes:
Example: Spending 10 minutes on a single DI set and leaving easier quant questions for the end.
How to Analyze: Track how much time you're spending on each section/question type. Set a timer during practice and force yourself to move on if you're stuck for too long.
      5. Guessing Without Strategy:
Example: In the verbal section, randomly guessing between two options because they both "sound" correct.
How to Analyze: When you're stuck between two options, try to eliminate one using logic, or leave it unanswered if you're unsure. Don’t guess blindly unless there’s no negative marking!
      What you can do:
After every mock, categorize your mistakes into these types.
Focus on weak areas and create a mini-plan to improve.
Practice those types of questions more and use mock tests as a learning tool.
By carefully analyzing each mock, you can prevent the same mistakes from repeating. Hope this helps! 😊 Let me know if you need more examples or tips.

Hi Gopal! Pehle toh thanks for reaching out. 😊
Dekho, Hindi medium ya English weak hona koi barrier nahi hai CAT exam ke liye. Bohot saare students, jinka Hindi medium background se thhe, unhone CAT crack kiya hai. Tumhe bas thoda extra focus karna padega, especially English par. Kuch steps follow kar sakte ho:
      English Improve Karna Shuru Karo:
Roz The Hindu ya Indian Express jaise newspapers padhne ki aadat daalo, especially editorials section ko.
English news ya shows subtitles ke sath dekho, taaki language se familiar ho jao.
VARC (Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension) Section Par Dhyan Do:
Roz reading comprehension solve karo. Books, articles, ya blogs padhne se speed aur understanding dono improve hongi.
Roz 5-10 naye words seekho aur unhe apni daily life me use karo.
      Consistency Zaroori Hai:
Ek study plan banao aur usse follow karo. Coaching institutes ya online resources ka bhi use kar sakte ho, jo specifically non-English background ke students ke liye helpful hote hain.
      Mock Tests Lo:
Regular mock tests dene se tumhe exam ka format samajh aayega aur speed aur accuracy dono improve hogi.
      Motivation Bane Rakhna:
CAT crack karna sirf English par depend nahi karta, yeh strategy, hard work aur smart preparation ka game hai.
Tum definitely CAT ki preparation kar sakte ho, bas dedication se lage raho!

Great Video.. I am unable to increase my accuracy rate its stuck between 50-60% which bottlenecked my scores to 25. I tried attempting less number of questions also still my accuracy remains the same and scores dropped as well. Main concern is getting stuck between 2 options. How should I work on this weakness

Thank you so much for your kind words, @shubhangsinha9616! I'm really glad you liked the video. 😊
Regarding your concern about accuracy, I completely understand how frustrating it can be to get stuck between two options and see little progress in improving your score. Here's a structured approach that might help you tackle this issue:
      1. Understand the Reason for the Confusion
When you get stuck between two options, it’s important to analyze why this is happening. The confusion often stems from either:
Lack of conceptual clarity, where both options seem correct.
Misinterpretation of the question or underlining subtle details.
      2. Strengthen Conceptual Understanding
In areas where you frequently get stuck, go back to the basics. Work on deepening your understanding of the concepts behind the questions. This is especially true for Verbal and Logical Reasoning sections. If the foundation is strong, distinguishing between two close options becomes easier.
      3. Practice Elimination Techniques
Focus on learning the art of elimination. Look for extreme words, subtle traps, or scope changes between the two options. With practice, you'll become better at spotting the wrong option quickly.
      4. Analyze Your Mistakes in Detail
Go over your previous mocks or practice sets and critically analyze each question where you got stuck between two options. Understand why the wrong answer is wrong and why the correct one is correct. This exercise is crucial for pattern recognition and gradually breaking the cycle of confusion.
      5. Focus on Fewer, Quality Attempts
Since you mentioned attempting fewer questions didn't help, it's essential to ensure that you spend more time on these questions without rushing. Focus on accuracy over speed in the short term. Try to attempt only those questions where you're confident after proper analysis, even if that means attempting fewer questions. With time, your accuracy will improve, and you can gradually increase the number of attempts.
      6. Mindset and Confidence
Often, second-guessing is a result of self-doubt. Trust yourself and your preparation. With more practice and analysis, your decision-making process will become more intuitive.
      7. Mock Tests & Sectional Practice
Regularly attempt mocks, but more importantly, dedicate time to sectional tests, particularly in the areas where you tend to get stuck. Analyzing these sectional tests thoroughly will help you identify weak areas and improve them faster.

Bro i am scoring around 16-20 in mocks of cl and ims in varc section can it get 30+ on cat day any possibility or it will be around mocks scores only ???

    • @divya_kumar_garg
      @divya_kumar_garg  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hey, I totally understand your concern! First of all, scoring 16-20 in VARC (Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension) mocks is definitely not a bad place to start. And yes, there's absolutely a possibility to push that score to 30+ on the actual CAT day!
Mocks give us an indication of our current standing, but the real exam day can bring some positive surprises, especially if you prepare well in the remaining time. Here are a few tips to help you improve and aim for a 30+ in VARC:
      1. Analyze Your Mocks Thoroughly
After every mock, focus on analyzing your mistakes, especially in RCs. Are you losing marks due to comprehension issues, misinterpreting questions, or poor time management? Try to figure out the pattern of your errors and work on them specifically.
      2. Work on Reading Speed & Accuracy
In VARC, the balance between speed and accuracy is crucial. This will help you tackle unfamiliar passages more comfortably.
      3. Master Elimination Techniques
For RCs and para-based questions, one trick is to master the elimination method. Try to eliminate options logically rather than choosing the one that feels right. Often, a couple of options will be close, but one will have a slight flaw.
      4. Improve Time Management
Practice under timed conditions as much as possible. Set strict time limits for RCs and verbal questions and stick to them. Over time, this will help you improve speed without compromising on accuracy.
      5. Stay Confident on Exam Day
Mock scores can sometimes be lower due to nerves, over-analysis, or time pressure. However, many candidates see an improvement on the actual CAT day due to better focus and less stress. Stay positive, and trust your preparation.
To sum up, it's definitely possible to jump from 16-20 to 30+ with focused effort in the remaining time! Keep working hard, analyze mocks closely, and don’t let the current scores hold you back. You've got this! :)

    • @divya_kumar_garg

Thanks a lot for reaching out, Siddharth! 😊 I totally understand your situation-being stuck in the 20-25 range in VARC can feel frustrating. It’s great that you’re already putting in solid efforts by analyzing mocks for 2 hours. Let me suggest a few things that might help push your score further:
RC Focus: Since RC has a high weightage, focus on accuracy here. Try reading diverse articles (e.g., philosophy, economics) to improve comprehension speed. Also, analyze why you get certain questions wrong-are you missing subtle details or misinterpreting tone?
Question Types: Look for patterns in the types of questions you tend to miss (e.g., inference-based, main idea). Spend extra time practicing those.
VA Section: For Para-jumbles, start looking for anchor sentences (those that usually start the paragraph) and eliminate illogical pairs. Sentence elimination and summary questions should focus on clarity-look for the main idea in every option.
Timed Practice: During mocks, focus on allocating your time well. Maybe try answering RC first or vice versa to see what works better.
Mindset: Take small mental breaks while solving. Sometimes over-analyzing leads to errors in easy questions.
Keep at it, Siddharth! Consistency will break that plateau soon. You've got this! 💪

Hey Kaushal, I totally understand what you’re going through! It's common to feel like you’ve understood an RC passage while reading, but then struggle to recall details or feel confused when attempting the questions. Here’s how you can tackle this:
      1. Active Reading
Instead of passively reading the passage, try engaging with it actively:
Make mental summaries after each paragraph. Pause for a second and think, "What did this paragraph convey?" This will help with retention.
Highlight key points or write down brief notes if you’re practicing on paper. This way, you won’t need to re-read the whole passage.
      2. Focus on the Main Idea
For CAT, it’s important to grasp the main theme of the passage. Ask yourself:
What is the author's tone (neutral, critical, supportive)?
What is the primary argument or purpose of the passage?
      3. Practice Regularly with Timers
Try to read RCs with a timer to build your focus and prevent distractions. Also, practice various genres-science, philosophy, business, etc.-as CAT can have RCs from any field.
      4. Tackle the Tough RCs
For the RCs that you find confusing or hard to understand:
Don’t panic. Start by identifying the topic and reading slowly. Even if you don’t fully grasp every detail, focus on the main argument.
Elimination method: For tougher questions, use the process of elimination to narrow down options.
With regular practice and a more active reading strategy, your retention and understanding will improve over time. Keep pushing forward, Kaushal-you got this! 😊

My score from 15 to 5 it’s fluctuating a lot . With so many days i don’t know how to ace this section because I think varc is my best shot to score a good percentile .
