So this special was story-boarded and directed by Megumi Ishitani. She is still fairly new in the anime industry only working in Toei Animation with Dragon Ball Super and most importantly One Piece. The episodes she directs and storyboards 957, 982 and 1015 are not only some of the best episodes of One Piece but also showcasing some really good animation period. Thankfully those episodes I listed are stuff that you have read up to so I highly recommend you watch them on your own time. I reckon even though I would love for her to continue to work on One Piece she might someday branch out for more different anime. In many ways she reminds me of Rie Matsumoto the director of Kyousougiga and first season of Blood Blockade Battlefront. Anyway thanks for reacting to this special it was really fun seeing you react and discuss to this unique piece of animation.

as a huge Nami fan I fell in love with this little fangirl, she is precious, and she shows how important the less physically powerful strawhats are in their own way. The ending sequence and the marineford sequence with the brothers never fails to get me to tear up. the way they show the war as this horrible thing from the perspective of the little guys. just an absolute nightmare. Every second, every frame, every choice, truly a perfect episode worth a thousand rewatches
One interesting bit is that although she bumps into Usopp, he was unkown at that time. She could only know of Sogeking as a strawhat, i wonder if later on she would end up remembering him 😅
She also didn't have her glasses so even if she could piece together he was sogeking like she pieced together that the SH were going to go back to Shabody, she couldn't fully see his face.
It's so fucking good. The Straw Hat pirates are goofballs just living their lives and having their adventure, but they shine so brightly in their pursuit of their dreams that they touch everyone they brush past. They leave just one piece of themselves in everyone and those pieces sometimes come together to form a miracle.

I've only watched 200 odd episodes of One Piece plus the live action, but I really liked this. It felt kind of like a 'Lower Decks' One Piece, as well as being acknowledgement and gift to the One Piece fandom.
When One Piece is over, fans and not-so-fans will witness the end of one of the most influential works ever made, but at the same time they will see that the greatest work of Shonen is finished and it will take years for another Shonen to appear that reaches the level of influence that the universe created by Eiichiro Oda had. There won't be anything similar to what One Piece was for almost 30 years so far.
A fantastic episode directed by the fantastic director Megumi Ishitani. It's such a great episode, focusing on only litterally background characters and yet makes you love every second of it.
There are so many blink and you'll miss it moments in this episode! From the Soul King keychain of the store owner to the government agents kidnapping fake chopper from the fake straw hats. When you see Sanji flying you can even see the nosebleed he has when he first sees Nami and Robin again! There are also a lot of background characters that are voiced by the VAs of the Straw Hats as a tribute, like the mother of the girl being voiced by Luffy's VA! What I love about One Piece Fan Letter is that while OP is often funny or hype or tragic or adventurous, this episode is just plain FUN to watch! I was sitting there smiling from ear to ear when I watched it and I still do every time I see it! The people that worked on this truely knew how to distil the world, themes and magic of One Piece into a single episode, it is perhaps the best One Piece episode to date!
the girls clothes start out in homage to Nami's original outfit her last scene she was wearing similar to post ts Nami having seen her new look for herself and starting her next evolution
TBH, I do want to ask for the SoS community (that pretty active on discord etc) about, is there any mention from Jacob/Caleb about the continuation of One Piece manga reading? Me pretty much only active on their youtube reaction or twitch stream. And for twitch stream, I really dont want to ask/mention (in this case, One Piece related content) anything that not related to things that they doing while streaming, because it can be consider rude.

I remember watching Marineford for the first time and clocking in Izo because he was wearing a traditional japanese outfit and instead of using swords like one would assume- he was using guns! It made me like his character and design- imagine my surprise when he became more relevant and then..😭😭
Love the show of the crazy epic scale of the main story using Oars Jr.'s cut-off leg there. Only couple seconds show of power. Massive Giant has his leg cut off & that was it. Ok, how about a "btw someone got stuck under that thing" just... yeah, pretty insane 🤯
May I asked why they stopped? I am one of those who strongly disagree for Caleb and Jacob experience One Piece through the manga, mainly i think they will have better reactions when watching anime
@@cal8338 They started the manga because in that way they can experience one piece without giving up space on their anime schedule and it would take too long to react to all the episodes. They just don't have the time for that. They also stopped reading cause they "finished" it. They were reading like chapter 1120 or something like that when it came out. And they didn't want to read it weekly, chapter by chapter. The idea is, they want to wait for a bunch of chapters to come out and do another weekly read along. I think it was Calab saying that they will return to it eventually, when they have time for it. But right now they really can't cause Jacob for example is writing his second book I believe, so he has reaaally tight schedule.
