Met both of you guys at the WNCFF years ago maybe 2015. Great to see you guys working together and having a lot of fun. First time I shot the moon with a lot of magnification I was suprised at how much the moon move.
Very useful for trick-and-tip night photography. Thanks for sharing. Big LIKE from Singapore. Have a nice day.👍😍
So nice of you
Great show Doug! I would have thought that light painting the trees in that Milky Way shot would have been another shot from that setup. Thanks!
Good idea
great stuff to know
Glad you think so!
i loved the video Doug. I would like a chance to attend a night photography workshop. NC outer banks would be a great location.
You should attend one of Kevins night photography classes, I think he actually does one on the outer banks.
The Milky Way rises in Feb at about 5 to 6am . in Mar. 2 to 3am Apr 12am to 2am etc ect all the away to Oct. A major point is there is no need to go to very dark place for as long as the sky is dark you can capture from a lit parking lot. If out in nature there are critters also like bear and big cats wear a flashlight aimed in back of you to hopefully repel some and even set up a motion detector at your back that will set off a light. I even on Jekyll Island Ga. have had deer walk right up to by back eating grass, or even big snakes and gator coming out onto the beach. the motion detector also is good for the two legged critters, attached to the back of your jacket both motion detector and light will help protech.
yeah with this crazy world, you need something, I live on the border of state game lands and that's a prime spot for escapees to run to, when I am out there I have a nice 2000+ lumens with decent candela flashlight in hand and a keen eye once they adjust I may pick up a cheap monocular thermal once my return hits my bank account.
Great variety of night shots Doug. Question- What is the wrap that you and Kevin had on your lens? I've not seen one of those before.
Those are called Lens Muffs, they slightly heat the lens to keep dew from forming on the glass while shooting at night. Kevin invented it and sells them on his site.
