WoW, the best video yet! What a way to celebrate these superb aircraft and to remember their crews.
I just emailed this video to my mum to watch. :¬)
And I was lucky enough to see them first hand a few days later at the Dawlish Air Show. :'¬)
Absolutely stunning.
Awesome.
Fantastic design and engineering by A V ROE, my granddad worked at AVRO'S, he would be sat on his cloud now with the biggest grin he could ever give.
two best aircraft in his opinion.
This video proves it, wonderful thank you.

Gotta love the roar of the engines from both Lancaster's and the Vulcan... plus hearing the bells in the background just seems very British :)
The engines on the Lancaster Mk X from Canada has the Pacckard (USA) built Merlins Half the Lancasters Built, 3,440 Mk B III & Canadian MkX's had the Packard built Merlins, part of the Allied cooperations,

Nope. Rolls Royce design and engineering built according to specs under licence to an outside source. Do your research.

Oh, and all your infantile "DUUUUUHHHS" and peurile insults in this and other posts doesn't make you right. Deal with it.

Yeah, you did a grand job! What a display! Must have been exceptional to see up close.
Seeing these 3 in the air stirs so many different emotions. Deep gratitude for the countless numbers that used the Lancasters for the job they were built for, and awe at the speed with which the aviation industry evolved over a very short period of time, the first Vulcan flew in 1951, the year I was born, and deep sadness that the skills that were behind these and subsequent aircraft like TSR2, the Harrier and of course Concorde, are no longer valued or encouraged by successive generations of politicians, to the point where the UK no longer has a viable and vibrant independent aircraft manufacturing industry, the UK has become merely a sub contractor to other countries.
We also owe a huge vote of thanks to the countless volunteers that have been responsible for returning these wonderful machines to operating condition and status.
I would have to hope that maybe some of our present politicians will recognise that keeping these machines serviceable so that they can continue to be serve as a real reminder of all that has gone before is something that transcends mere beancounting. They are a fundamental part of the recent history of the UK and should be retained as such, not just as static reminders of the price that was paid by so many fine people.
I now live in Ireland, so I can't start a petition to "encourage" Mr Cameron to provide the support to keep the Vulcan flying, to serve as a reminder of the significant role that the UK has played over the last century in shaping the future of Europe. Perhaps someone in the UK will take that on board.
Couldn't have said it better myself... As a young college student, I can't tell you how important it is to get more people my age into this kind of mindset
If only the three remaining fast taxi-able Vulcans could be reactivated and sent to Ukraine to help in the struggle there ... What a fantastic sight that would be no doubt some of the Russians who have never heard of her would think the Martians were landing !
Why am I crying? because I have seen the most amazing sight and listened to the most amazing sounds. Thank you for the video. A couple of years ago I was too ill to see the Vulcan at our local airshow. I was in my garden for some fresh air and there in front of me in the sky was the most amazing sight of the Vulcan flying over Abingdon after the air show and it came right over my house. Never stopped crying, what a softie I am but worth it.
Coinciding with our Avro Sisters Intro, here are the legends in action! buff.ly/1yhXuUE

Generación de Bombarderos Ingleses ...Excelente vídeo..
It is so nice to se those two beauties together. When ours left Hamilton, the crowd was pretty damn big! Can't wait to see it return :)
How can anyone give this beautiful formation, flying over the wonderful city of Lincoln a thumbs down. You must be mad !!!
Roy Chadwick would be proud.
Roy Chadwick would have been looking down at this with a massive grin.
When you think that Sydney Camm went from the Hurricane , Typhoon, Tempest, Hunter and Harrier it makes you wonder what the great R J Mitchell could have achieved.
What a beautiful video. Brought a tear to my eyes. Was there at Waddington yesterday to see the 3 sisters. A day I will never forget x :-)
***** Me too....
I was there too, what a day!!
I got to see vera and thumper fly over just jane at East Kirkby, but regrettably I didn't see this live...must have been amazing
Samantha Wright i have tingle in your toes
I was in a field next to where the new bomber command memorial is being built, I watched all 3 rise in the distance from RAF Waddington and then waited and there out of the gloomy skies came what can only be described as 'beautiful' I'll never forget seeing these 3 in formation, a once in a life time event...
AVRO - A stands for aviation - V stands for the Victory the aircraft had in war - R stands for the Robust constructions these aircraft have (still going strong today) - O stands for the many RAF Operations these aircraft accomplished.
Definately a lump in the throat, tear in the eye moment - wonderful!
I.
Am.
Soooooooooooo.
Envious......
(sigh)
Awesome video. Thank you!
I went to Waddington and watched the Lancaster's land, then onto Metheringham where there was an airfield in WW2 and was in awe of the three sister flypast. Hundreds gathered here to await the see the spectacle. Really enjoyed seeing the three get airborne a few miles away. XH558 looked fantastic as she banked starboard to group with the Lanc's and fly over Lincoln. Well worth taking the day off and racing to the other side of the country!
I know the tv room in heaven will be brimming when they show this :-))
Brilliant 3 Flying memorials to the brave men of Bomber Command. Thank you.It would be great to see them 3 together flying over Lancashire the Lancaster's birth place.
Used to work on these aircraft 1970 - 73 (PA474 and Vulcans) whilst at RAF Waddington. PA474 was put back into flying condition in in 1973 (flew in it 4 times as ground eng) before going to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (then based at RAF Coltishall, Norfolk) Have to admit every time I see the Lanc or XH558 in the sky's over Lincolnshire it always makes makes me emotional.
The airplanes, the bells , the scenery. So British. So awesome
Great footage ,I think the chimes of the bells added a bit more atmosphere ,good stuff
Evocative sights and sounds. Let us remember the cause for their necessity - mankind's rejection of God and mankind's consequential inability to live in peace.
Wonderful sights & sounds of an amazing day! Beautifully compiled, very evocative. This video captures so well something I was privileged to witness first hand but try as I did, I could never record it as faithfully.
Fantastic and Proud
Incredible sight.
I saw Vulcan at Scarborough this year. The thought that this aircraft may have to stop flying in a couple of years due to lack of engines and the end of its airframe's life is terribly sad.
No other plane has the same presence.
great video , i need to get my arse in gear and go see some of these planes fly , couple of spitfires and a lanc flow over my estate the other day and i was screaming and shouting, makes me so proud, not much left of that in nw london.
Utterly magnificent. I need a tissue !
Looking good.can't wait for Duxford in sept.very sad that the Vulcan retires after November......for ever!
***** its the 2nd weekend.check website for prices.we do get ticket subsidy remember to keep stubs :-)
The Vulcan will continue to fly well in to 2015, as stated by the XH558 Website
Saw the show on BBC Canada of the retirement. Sad but preserved
Quietest I've ever heard the Vulcan ;)
Amazing sight, amazing aircraft.
Nice job! I love the cathedral bells!
EXCELLENT JOB !! The amazing fact is--there was only about 7 years between the Lancs production wind down, and the futuristic Vulcan's arrival, and yet--EVERYTHING about them could not be more different. The rush to design, develop , and produce the first Jet powered nuclear bomber's post war, was a tremendous achievement, boosted by the dramatic change in East/ West relations. If the Vulcan had come on the scene for the first time in the 1970's, she would have still looked futuristic.
Thank you so much for this-what an historic day, I just wish I could have seen it live!
Truly impressive!
Nicely thought out locations, specially the the views from the church roof
What a fantastic video........... I have watched XH558 leave/return from DSA loads of times but it still gets to me......even more so walongside the Lancasters ........
History in the making
Love it best RAF bomber from WW2 ever can't wait to see it on sunday
@soaringtractor The British had no need for a bigger bomber, the Lanc did an adequate and reliable job. The yanks I believe found that their crappy B17 was not up to the job in the Pacific, hence they had to develop a new and bigger plane with greater range. I also believe they had a lot of initial issues with it before it was fit for service. ....I would never call it the best bomber.
Amazing 4 Olympuses and 8 Merlins (4 RR Merlins + 4 Packard Merlins) symphony
The somber chime
Wow vulcans
Lest we forget
Bloody fantastic
Great video, thanks!
In the fifties,Vulcans from Woodford, regularly blew our back door open....happy days!
What a joy to see and watch . I can't say any more . It's probably been said already . FANTASTIC !!! :-)
Lovely to see and a great memorial to Roy Chadwick, it's just a shame the Avro Lincoln his successor to the Lancaster at the end of WWII couldn't be part of the display instead of being a static display at RAF Cosford!
Avro built some beautiful aircraft in its day.
@soaringtractor So what !......it was still a BRITISH Avro design , just contracted out. I remember also that your famous Yank P51 Mustang was no good until fitted with a BRITISH designed Merlin engine.
Unfortunately I couldn't be there, But this is the 2nd best thing!!! Thank you for posting this historical event for us all to watch over and over again!! :-D
Saw the Lancaster's and Vulcan by an Inn, got some good photos, a sight I will never forget :) same to hear that the Vulcan wont be flying any more after November, I am hoping that we can have the Canadian Lancaster over here more often, such an amazing sight, I heard that they were trying to get Just Jane flying again, just imagine, how beautiful that would be :) like a dream come true :)
I worked at the Avro factory (Woodford) for 15 years. In the very same hangar that these incredible iconic machines were assembled and flight tested. Happy days.....the buildings have now all been demolished and its a housing estate! All that history gone in the interests of profit.
Thank you PlanesTV for this superb video for those of us not able to get to Lincoln. It is one of the most dramatic videos and really sums up the whole spirit of the trip by 'VERA' from Hamilton.
The heart jumps off the chest. But.... Whatever happened to that Great Manufacturing Britain of the past? Where are today's British cutting-edge aircraft, both military and civil? Why no 21st Century Lancasters, Lincolns, Vulcans, Victors, Viscounts, Comets, Vanguards, Britannias, VC10's, Rotodynes? How could you Brits let all that greatness slip away? It's no good keeping on moaning about short-sighted politicians, you've been doing so for the last fifty years! Those of us non-Brits who love Britain, and aviation, and British aviation, are longing to see British bold creativity soaring back into the skies again. Come on, GB! You did it then, you can do it once more! And fuck the yanks!!! You've played the lapdog for TOO long!!!
Actually it was a combination of poor politics and company management!!
BTW I'm glad you like old british aircraft!
mrsneaky2010 There's no way of liking "new" British aircraft: there is none!
The "combination of poor politics and company management" mantra has become something of a catch phrase to explain the strange suicide of British aviation after WWII, a war Britain lost in the long run.
What a pity, and a shame!
They don't make the harrier anymore. Compared to what UK produced from about 1915 to 1960, It's nothing!
The Darksider Yes, sir; an incredibñe machine, but hardly "21st century".... And, as friend Sneaky says above, they don't make it any more! As for Typhoon and Tornado, they are hardly today what the great British aircraft of the past were in the halcyon days of British air industry...... Sad waste!
+soaringtractor
How long did it take to repaint the White House after we and the Canucks turned it into the Black House? Maybe you need to learn to speak some Chinese considering who is waiting around the corner. Or perhaps working on your Russian would help. You would not be leading the aviation industry if it wasn't for the GERMANS.
crackin flypast bit too young to remember lancs but have worked with shacks and vulcans
When are the RAF going to adopt the Vulcan !!! absolutely brilliant, well done to all concerned with the flypast and the filming
Avro 3 Sisters, what sweet music they make! Interesting styles of take off between British and Canadian aircraft.
This will never be repeated ;( unless East Kirkby's Lancaster is made airworthy within a year which could have a small chance of happening
2 Lancasters and a vulcan xh558

Avro ❤❤❤
Wonderful scenes and a great memorial to all Bomber Command and Strike Command crews through the years.
Wow nearly shredded my speakers, excellent close ups.thanks
That made it look really quite haunting, especially with the bells.
absolutely magnificent, i have been lucky enough to see the two lancasters fly low over my house twice in the last couple of weeks if the vulcan had been with them i think i might have collapsed with happiness
Beautiful. And god bless our chaps who fought and lost in these machines.
No one in any of the Lanc videos mentioned that one of them came from Canada, one of only two in the world, still in flying condition.
One can imagine the Vulcan must have been flying near her minimum speed to remain in formation with the Lancasters .
i think we should make replicas of the lancaster because our public love seeing these in the skies and its such a pleasure to look out and see them fly past your home it made our day when they did, and really boosts up public moral
Brilliant, thanks. One of the best videos i've ever seen on TH-cam. !
Remember VErA flew across the Atlantic to participate.
Id like to say well done to all those who keep them planes in the air I don't think on in will see that again in my lifetime and I'm 14 so its a spectacular to see
What an amazing sight. Wish I could have seen this in person
As the son of a Lancaster pilot, can I say that was an amazing video. Thanks!
Give us proof that your the Lancaster pilots son
@@leckie1977 I said a Lancaster pilot's son. By the way, I don't have to prove anything to you, buddy.
Adrian Burn okay sorry
Designed by the same chap I believe. Not a bad record eh!
What a stunning video - two Lancasters and a Vulcan.
Excellent video takes me back many years.
Wonderful, thanks for sharing it with us.
I was there, at both sites but the cameras catch so much more, beautiful unique film!
Fantastic a joy to watch. The Lancaster and the Vulcan.
Well done to all involved for this fantastic achievement.
Wow. .made me very emotional watching that..
Top video! Thanks for shareing :)
Less than 10 years between those two plane types.
Awesome, thank you to everyone involved!
brilliant day thanks guys was there but did,t get the tee shirt
Just brilliant.....lump in throat moment!!
The ULTIMATE in plane porn! :D
Now that's a special Video
Anyone else got an funny feeling on the Vulcan take off!
Fantastic, thank you very much.
1:25 oh no here she comes (Vulcan)
Beautiful sight. Wish i had been there to see it live.
Wow amazing brought a tear to my eye
Wonderful! Thank you.
Turd Cutting Ceremony, ya mean?
Once in lifetime moment never to be seen again.
i live where VERA the canadian lancaster is based, and there is no shortage of those merlin engines, they take VERA out everything just short of grocery shopping.
@soaringtractor Why do you keep on raving about PACKARD built Merlins. They are still a BRITISH RR design and just built in USA under license simply because the British factories could not produce them quickly enough to meet wartime demand. Rolls also had to modify the design a bit so the brain dead Yanks could do the job.
Simply Awesome planes TV
