Muchchangam = Mu [tri] + ch [consonant sandhi] + changam [sangham - because Tamil alphabets don't distinguish between s and ch; and between k, g and gh]. So Muchchangam means all "three sanghams". So it's only 1st , 2nd and 3 sanghams not 1st 2nd and 3rd Muchchangam.
Ettu = 8 (here the t is retroflex)
Pattû = 10 (here the t is dental, û is ardha u-kara/schwa)
pāttû = songs (here the t is retroflex/ û is ardha u-kara/schwa)
So pattupāttû means 10 songs.
Melkanakkû = Mel [top/upper] + kanakkû [count/account] (the û is ardha u-kara/schwa)
Kīlkanakkû (kīzh) = kīzh [down/lower] + kanakkû
Aham (akam/agam - Tamil alphabets don't distinguish between k,g,h) [in]
Puram (r is retroflex r) [out]
Also rr is pronounced either "tr" ( retroflex t and r) or "tt"(British pronounciation of t in tomorrow)
Thiru/Tiru is equivalent to "Sri" and can be seen even in names of towns and cities Thiru+Ananta+puram = Thiruvananthapuram.
Pathinenkilkanakkû = Pathinen [18] + kīzh [down/lower] + kanakkû [count/account]
Silappathigaram = Silappû [anklet] + Athigaram [Adhikaram] (Tamil alphabets don't distinguish between t,d and k,g)
Kannaki/Kannagi and Kovalan (not kovalam - a place in Kerala)
Ilango Adigal = ilam [young] (l here is retroflex) + ko [ King] + Adigal [honorific title of Jain monks] = Ascetic Prince
Manimegalai = Mani [Ruby/pearl] + meghalai [megha / cloud] (Tamil alphabets don't distinguish between g,gh)
