A lot of negative comments on here but I think its a great alternative rather than just dumping the shit on the ground. Its just for a camper, not a 5 bedroom house....
Thanks for seeing that. This was a temporary solution to a temporary problem. Now it works great for a outside washing machine and a drinking fountain.
This is a cool alternative! Ive got a similar project. One thing; I noticed at around 3:40 when your adding concrete around your pipe. When we run pipes through concrete like that what we do is take some pvc glue and smear it around the area to pass through the concrete then before the glue sets rub some sand in it. this will provide some 'tooth' for the concrete to grab. Hate for that inlet to slip down into the tank.

sportster davidson dude, relax. It’s clear they live in a rural area and had access to this kind of equipment. It’s nice of them to take the time to share their knowledge. Septic systems cost FIFTEEN THOUSAND dollars. If you had to pay a 10th of that you can cry a river.... into your cheap septic system? Chill.
For the time and effort involved to install what is essentially a holding tank a composting toilet and a grey water irrigation system would have been better for the washing machine. Sceptic tanks are designed to settle the solids before the liquid leaches out through the wicking bed I would be very surprised if this tank setup is capable of settling the solids and stopping them flowing into the wicking bed pipework.
For just a temporary stay or hunting cabin I think this would work fine with the exception that I think you should have a way to empty your solids. And with a lot of Ridex (healthy tank) thanks for the video.
This has actually worked and is working great. It is now still being used for a clothes washer for a shop and a drinking fountain along with a shop bathroom. It has never failed.

Ron Hart Hi, the motor home is my dad's. We haven't moved yet because the kids need to finish the school year and my wife's a teacher so she has to finish her contract. Thank you for watching.
The techniques presented in this video give no concern to proper methods for septic systems. I strongly encourage anyone viewing this to consider other methods. Among issues are the inadequate treatment provided by the tank choice, poor pipe installation, inadequate siting considerations, and inefficient (and unsafe) construction techniques. Anyone considering onsite wastewater system methods should consult with a Professional Engineer familiar with septic systems.
Your correct. Were a couple concrete and framing guys putting in a grey water system for a drinking fountain and occasional washing machine use. We never intend for it to be a whole house septic. Just thought we'd share. Thanks for watching and the comments
@@bustedwagonranch4546 I just didn't get why not just throw a few leach lines in an it would have been fine. Now you just have a tank that needs to be pumped out every few weeks. Put in to 40 foot leach lines with some 3/4" modified and backfill.
As a Licensed Septic Professional, I can assure you this system is probably illegal, because without a permit or approval from state, county, or local authorities like the Health Department or Building Department, you can't do this. In my state, permission from the Department of Environmental Services (DES) is required by law, and permitting and inspection is done by the local Building Inspector or Health Officer at the municipal level. The design and approval process takes several weeks, and is dependent upon test pit data, perc testing, and soil samples. That's why it costs thousands of dollars to install a legal and legitimate system with all the proper documentation and it can take weeks to actually complete the process.

I see numerous single chamber tanks, but the ones I've looked at are just holding tanks. Also, I would imagine that the EPA has guidelines and certifications for tanks, but I don't have comformation on this. However, I do see that most actual septic tanks that are being sold, are certified by state, leading me to believe that you can't legally install a septic tank in a state where it has not first been certified for use. If I'm wrong, please provide me with information to the contrary...

The tank and piping alone had to cost more than $100
Totes are given away. A lot of products ship to end users in totes and the totes are then repurposed or tossed.
The diesel alone on those tractors is around 100$ itself
