They've done good work in the resin space, but when it comes to FDM, some things just don't need to be redesigned. We don't need yet another slicer, and I'm baffled by their decision to run all 4 Z axis screws on a single motor. The latter design choice has me seriously reconsidering my pledge.
I would like to se an upgrade in the near future to print in place with dynerma yarn so you can make parts very strong with strength optimisation in the right areas. And allso as an upgrade to be able to print non planar. Both will need new designed hotends and firmware. Will not hold my breath but as a useful upgrade I would not let this oppertunety pass.
I’m not sure what you mean by infatuation? We parter with lots of 3D printer OEMs and Phrozen is one of them. We’ve partnered with them on this Arco Kickstarter Stretch Goal campaign which ends on April 7th, so we filmed videos about the collaboration before the campaign ends here very soon.
The printer is very interesting to me. But the slicer scares away. It looks like a simplified bambu studio, too little functionality. To be honest, the bambu/orca sometimes lacks functionality compared to the Prusaslicer. Therefore, I still consider it to be the main drawback of this printer.
Phrozen has told us that you will be able to use any slicer with Arco! If you want to use the Chroma Kit it will likely require the PIXUP slicer for now, but Phrozen would like to integrate native support for Chroma Kit into other slicers, but that is not an option at this time.
I kind of second this. I think designing features that are exclusive for your own slicer is something that makes the market weary about long term usability. Using your own fork to develop features that can be easily imported into other forks, and work with other forks on such a strategy, will strengthen your market position, not weaken it.
I'm super jealous man! I was in Taiwan in 2013 and I LOVED it... Would love to go back one day :)

Any thoughts on how the Phrozen Arco will compare to the newly announced Creality K2 plus? Seems like Creality may have a leg up.

As a company that makes wonderful hot ends for many many brands of 3D printer, I do not understand the infatuation with Phrozen.
