I agree. This is also how I felt about Finding Dory being a 13 year sequel to Finding Nemo. Where Cars 2 previously failed with Mater, Finding Dory succeeded to make Dory a more compelling and fleshed-out character while still giving Marlin and Nemo big roles to play in her sequel storyline. When side characters from Finding Nemo made cameos at the beginning and the end of the film, Finding Dory also knew how to give them an actual integral role in the story, like Mr. Ray's lesson on migration causing Dory to consider reuniting with her family, and Dory and Marlin swimming on the east current with Crush and Squirt again, with Nemo also present this next time, to find the aquarium/marine life institute where Dory's parents live.
Finding Dory also had another scene after the end credits showing the tank gang getting to the same marine hospital, which was a nice way for this film's writers and directors to show us that they have not forgotten about that loose end of Finding Nemo. I always hoped that it might have been added there to set up a third movie, Finding Gill, about Gill's interesting and shady backstory of how he used to live in the ocean before he was captured by the dentist in Australia, which would also tie into answering how he would help the rest of his fellow tank gang to escape the marine life institute after the ending of Finding Dory. I would definitely say that this movie is on par with the original. I relate to Riley’s struggles a lot and it does a good job at portraying how anxiety feels. I also really like how it portrays its strong message along side the humour like a lot of classic Pixar movies! Definitely looking forward to watching it again when it comes to Disney plus

havent watched the vid yet but i got home from the theaters with my family an hour ago and we watched inside out 2 and i had to stop myself from getting teary eyed near the end. Loved how they showed anxiety taking over Riley with the want to do better only for it to backfire in her face, and the lesson Joy learned, even if it was obvious she had to learn it from the start.

Anxiety taking over everything. Which is what anxiety does. I loved anxiety’s catastrophising. It’s crazy, too, because, as usual, anxiety starts as excitement, and then everything spirals.
And yes, I cried at the end of the movie, too. Though, lots of movies tear me up, so that wasn’t much of a surprise.

Speaking of Pixar, do you think Monsters at Work was a good sequel series to Monsters U. and Monsters Inc.? Yes, I know Pixar did not really animate Monsters at Work, but do you think the storyline of that series it was a valuable, worthy sequel for these two Monsters movies from Pixar? I am only asking because Season 2 of Monsters at Work aired in the same year as Inside Out 2, and Mindy Kaling was still in the Monsters at Work cast after she quit the Inside Out cast.

Ever since Toy Story 3 in 2010 (the end of Pixar’s Golden Era) Pixar have been putting out hit-or-miss movies
Inside Out 2 is definitely in the hit category, along with its prequel. And only time will tell how Elio performs
But still. Like my girl Mirabel I’m waiting on a miracle for Iger to be ousted and a much needed shakeup to the company’s trajectory. Whatever happened to the “Daring Disney” we knew back in the 90s? (yes I was born the same year Chicken Little during the height of Disney’s Post-Renaissance slump, but TLM, BatB, Aladdin, TLK, Pocahontas, HoND, Hercules, -Mulan- and Tarzan mean(t) so much)

I didn't like inside out 1; and whenver I watched the movie I always felt this empty feeling, as if, yeah, I get what she is feeling and etc, whoever this movie just doesn't feel like a nything to me, I couldn't connect with Riley, her parents or anything as a character and the movie for that reason jusf felt shallow to me. HOWEVER, Inside 2 came out, everybody was talking about it, and this last week I went to watch it with my mother, and OH. MY. GOD. Now we are both fans of the franchise, the sequel just actually made me like the original movie, and Riley as a character, specially because I too suffer from depression and anxiety, and well, even though I am an adult and not 11 or 13 anymore, is good to have such relatable stories on screen and it actually made me have a more optimistic view on my life, and on myself as a person, and me bond a little more with my mother; our relationship is pretty good but now we have this little secret since we went out to see the movie in secret, since my grandma is kind of a hard person to deal with and we live with her and we wanted to have some fun too, though, it's complicated to explain but that's it. 10/10. It is an amazing film. It deserves ALL the hype.

The only real complaint I have with this film is the ending.
SPOILERS DO NOT CLICK READ MORE IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT
It really doesn't make a lot of sense that Riley made the hockey team (never explicitly said, but heavily implied), considering the fact that she intentionally sabotaged her own team, hurt her best friend (though it was an accident, it was still entirely her fault), and was overall kind of a dick during the time the movie takes place. The coach also believed that she wasn't ready.
Kind of similar to the ending of Moana in the sense that everything just works out in the end in a really forced way.

  • @Ze-splattingmain
    @Ze-splattingmain 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

The movie was okay, it certainly doesn’t have the impact of the first film and there are somethings I liked and disliked about it.
I think the best part for me is where the old guard of emotions they have a lot more to them this time around especially with anger, the scene where he comforts joy and asks her kindly is while not evoking as some of the more emotional scenes in the last film did make me feel kinda nice and if anything fulled my desire to have the core emotion cast possibly expanded with more core emotions such as surprise and etc to make this feel like a full on team that mix and match and know each other inside and out countering each others weaknesses to help riley to their best advantage.
And joy saying that” when you get older you may feel less happy” tho once again didn’t hit as hard yet had some effect did have me think thats less of a maturing issue and more of a society issue I,ve ,seen adults be happy, some times more happy than kids, so take that s you will. It’s society that sucks the fun out of life.
In fact the only flaw I could think of regarding the old batch is that they kinda learned nothing from their last adventure and we see them suppressing/ outcasting memories which was the entire point the last film was making a point against suppressing bad memories and embracing them in order to over come them only to relearn that same lesson when they start the memory avalanche. And what makes this more jarring is that sadness is treated with respect which is what I expected but as soon as anxiety rocks up and shows what she’s capable of joy sorta dismisses her, even if she is a new emotion that just came out of the blue I would expect joy to come off a bit lighter on anxiety despite anxiety’s over exaggeration. And even if you make points that joy retains her lessons the film still goes the same route with anxiety who learns that the old emotions are just as important and the “new or complicated” emotions. Also the personality islands are now back to five instead of the nine they had at the und of the first film which is…off putting to say the least.
Specking of anxiety the new emotions are…fine to some extent tho they do kinda rub me the wrong way still, like for example while she definitely is the best in her squad anxiety just seems to be a form of anticipatory fear. And even in the end/climax where she causes a full on panic attack which was cool and was visually impressive but panic is just literally just sudden fear. And so with her existence I do feel a bit like the carpet was pulled under my feet because not only do I think they could do anxiety as a combination of two emotions but also I feel like they made the ending of the last film with the combinations of emotions to produce new emotions kinda redundant. We can now just introduce an emotion whenever we want dose kinda is a clash in my eyes even if I will admit I do have a bias for the old guard.
I found ennui to be…there. I personally don’t find boredom to be an emotion since it’s a lack of stimuli and huge majority of emotions need stimuli to work, and even if boredom is an emotion ennui more often represents apathy which is an absence of emotion. So Im conflicted to say the least.
Embarrassment kinda felt like a two dimensional character that only mumbles and groans which while yes make sense also kinda makes him not that interesting in my eyes and I would’ve like the idea of shame a lot more since for me shame is the core emotion behind embarrassment and if anything embarrassment is a lesser from of shame. I will say he’s still cute tho.
And envy is mostly anxiety’s side kick and almost enabler since she would encourage the rest and riley for that matter to fit into Val and co. So if anything she actually came out with the longest stick out of the three new emotions besides anxiety lol. Tho envy is a desire and desires and emotions are pretty different to me but I also don’t call the shots so what can I do.
Nostalgia I will say was a pretty missed opportunity and kinda felt more redundant than any of the new emotions combined only coming in to be a gag that came off as eye rolling. And I also think she could’ve helped even with her old frail body and getting lost in the past, along with joy she could’ve been a key part to fixing Riley’s sense of self making Riley remember that she was completely fine the way she was and maybe should return to how she was. Tho once again nostalgia is also a desire much like envy.
Lance, bloofy and the deep dark secret were fine tho I don’t have too many thoughts or feelings of them.
Bloofy just seems like diet bing bong (no offence) he even has a bottomless bag OH MY GOD how on the nose do you need to be.
Lance looks cool and the game details are a nice touch tho I will say I do have a question, if Riley has a crush on him and a crush which is a romantic interest or the evidence of love then where is love, if we are going out of our way to add things like anxiety then why isn’t their a love emotion. Maybe it will appear in a sequel but as I stated I much preferred the mixing a matching of emotions so this would rub be the wrong way even more but nothing talks louder than money.
And then we have the deep dark secret…he’s fine, he’s funny I will give him that and the dark secret makes some sense with how secretive he is tho I’m personally not vibing with the design, I would of preferred something that dwells in the dark or unclear to see, maybe a bit more monstrous so our imaginations run wild to what Riley is hiding something thats so forbidden that she has her mind lock it in a highly secure and heavily monitored jail complex essentially.
Also I think this film was pretty predictable, maybe if you didn’t watch the first film this would help but if you watched the first film you could pretty much just say “let me guess something goes wrong while the others are outside, they come back fix the problem have a touching scene and they have a even greater out come because the work together which results in a better out come” you could pretty much see this thing coming from miles away but the little hints of charm helped even if the main message was once again balance.
Overall Im not a lover of this film nor do I hate it but can’t help I would’ve been so much happier with the first instalment, because now I feel polarised. Im definitely not a fan of the new emotions but I don’t despise them. The older emotions are arguably improved but they lost some of the lessons they should’ve learnt in the last outing. And the plot follows an obviously similar plot to the first but introduces new ideas that at least change something.
I can definitely see why a lot of people like it but I may be the outlier here and say I would give it a 6/10, it has cool ideas and it’s visual eye candy which is guaranteed since it’s from Disney and Pixar but from someone who saw the first film it tracks a bit too close to it’s predecessor and doesn’t have a lot to surprise you if thats the case…which is funny because surprise isn’t a emotion based character in the base roster of emotions…lol.

In my teenage years, I was extremely turbulent. I ended up completing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, alongside my dad, and it GREATLY improved our family dynamic.
The key part of dialectics, which is the benchmark to a secure and successful sense of self, is to accept two things to be true at once.
the final chaos sequence did a BEAUTIFUL job of that. "I am *redacted*, and sometimes I am *redacted*" and it's accepting both these truths that allow for the final resolution.
My dad and I were both crying. And the animation and world building, as usual were both phenomenal.

Inside Out 2 feels so much smaller. The "Sarcasm" and "Brainstorm" are great world building, but they don't work too well as roadblocks because they aren't really a result of Riley's conflicting emotions.
They're just a result of Riley growing up/literally thinking! (In the first movie, the roadblocks were Riley as a person breaking apart). Good movie- that I wish didn't try to copy the same formula of the first movie and would have expressed its strong themes in a better way. Great humor, themes, and world building, but bad plot, and too fast paced so it's emotional beats felt...rushed?

I don’t agree, I personally love that it was small and just about Riley’s sense of self. Emotions can be really big in response to small things in life, especially at that age. I actually really appreciated that they kept the scope small. And I also think it was by design because Riley’s brain wouldn’t have changed **too** much from the previous movie since she just started puberty.

I'd still place Finding Dory and Monsters U over this. And the thing is, it's still not going to be enough to save Pixar. It's better than expected, but it's no summer blockbuster.

I am very happy that you loved Inside Out 2 as a sequel. Do you feel the same way about Finding Dory and Monsters at Work? June 14, 2024, 8:47pm

Now, that's what I'm talking about, looks like Pixar has some of their great ideas back, well it was a pretty tough road coming up with the perfect sequel after the Toy Story franchise (after Toy Story 4), in other words, the studio has many regrets after Cars 2 failed, which makes it Pixar's first bad movie, in which they wished it never exist, that goes for Lightyear too for some reason, or maybe Monster's University was unnecessary or should've happened first, and for those who believed Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 were also bad sequels, you're so wrong. On the other hand, if some other Pixar failure or unnecessary movie were never created, I kinda wished Inside Out 2 happened a long time ago, and it's still another Pixar masterpiece after Elemental.🧡😰💚🤢💛😃🩷😳💙😢💜🥱❤️😡💜😱🩵🥹
