'India Could Consider Helping South Sudan Government, Opposition Form National Army'

- India’s Ambassador to South Sudan, S D Moorthy in conversation with SNI Associate Editor Amitabh P Revi and Video Journalist Prateek Suri in the capital Juba. Indian peacekeepers are in high demand in Africa, the envoy says, because of their clear neutrality in the security they provide and the helping hand they reach out on the ground to locals in medical and cattle care, education, teaching vocational skills and providing solar lights. The Ambassador also talks about the peace process, business opportunities and the oil sector-in which India has stakes along with China and other partners.
Ambassador Moorthy assumed charge in Juba in June 2018. He has had diplomatic postings at the Indian Missions in Laos, UAE, Mexico City, Myanmar, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka. A Post Graduate in Commerce from Madras University, he has also served in the Administration, Gulf and Protocol divisions in the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.

South Sudan is a perfect opportunity for India to share its success with Aadhar, One natonal one smart ration card, smart voter ID and electronic voting machines, Jan Dhan Yojaya, Swachh abhiyan, Jal yojana, Gram Sadak Yojana, National Highways, Solar mission, Ujaala yojana, Railway development, Organic farming, etc... India can, through her guidance and knowledge sharing make South Sudan a model country for sustainable development.
