    Padres need Roki because he’s cheap and owners aren’t spending anymore. We need him more than he needs us. Desperation is not a position of strength. What’s the plan if he chooses another team?

      I think that’s why you guys are gonna lose him. Why would you pick the Padres who only want him so they can get under the luxury tax while staying competitive when he can join the Dodgers who will do whatever it takes to win? I don’t even think the Padres are second place anymore that has got to be the Mets

      And the Padres pitch is? What? We can sign you to a 6 year deal because you are firends with Yu who has 2 years left on his contract and will be 41. Plus, the bonus is if you sign with the Padres we can then trade away Dylan Cease to help our poor finances because of Machado, Bogarts, and Tatis contracts during your 6 years and cannot afford to hire more Free Agents to help you. For a kicker, we can risk your arm by asking you to pitch every 5 days because we do not have the talent in the decimated Soto, Cease, and Scott Farm system trades to help you or go to a 6-man rotation. Quick, sign here before your Agent comes back from the bathroom and wakes you up.

    Why would Roki want to come to a padres who haven’t made one move , money an issue and Darvish is 38 he only has so much time not to mention he was hurt last year for half the season . The padres are in no way keeping up with dodgers . This kid is not going to stay in SD for 4/5 years trying to beat the dodgers and Mets now lol . @@phigher1 Oh please, there is a reason why the league is currently investigating the Dodgers and Roki’s agent. His agent has a vested interest in trying to make people think that there isn’t a secret deal. So you can’t take anything he says seriously, because he’s literally under investigation. And 90% of the information you’re reading about the situation is coming from people that are quoting him behind the scenes. The reason why he is under investigation is because the Dodgers have been telling their top academy players for the 2025 season that they have to go elsewhere because they won’t have any money left in their bonus pool to sign them (because Roki requires the entire bonus pool). Padres are still agreeing to term with their best Academy players so are the Mets and so are the Yankees. That’s why all 30 GMs have called the league complaining that he has a secret deal already in place with the Dodgers. Because the best academy players for the Dodgers were knocking on their doors looking for contracts

      Nobody knows for sure what Sasaki values (including his agent who also represented Yamamoto, Senga, Darvish, and Suzuki Seiya). Choosing the first MLB team is complicated for a young Japanese pitcher like Sasaki. It was reported in Japanese media many years ago that one of the reasons why Ohtani picked the Angels was because he built a personal relationship with their GM who is now with the Mets. The Assistant GM who built relations with Darvish at the Rangers is now with the Padres.

  • @JackAPowers
    @JackAPowers 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    The Padres want to move Cease for financial reasons. What future signings might the Padres afford over the next 6 years with that Bogarts, Machado, and Tatis contracts draining their already looked for a loan to pay players and can't even afford Profar finances?
    Yu Darvish is 39 with only 2 years on his contract with Roki going on a 6 year contract. Yu would be 45 if even pitching anywhere in 6 years. Sign with the Padres for a friendship that may only last 2 years? The Padres decimated their farm system to get Soto, then had to trade him away. Then again last year to get Cease & Tanner Scott. Scott is gone and trying to trade Cease for payroll reasons.
    Lets sum this up. No Soto. No ring. Maybe no Cease, especially if Roki signs with the Padres. Farm system hit hard for upcoming players. Yu closing in on retirement and only 2 years left on his contract. Can't afford to even resign Profar. No real history with Pitching development. Does anyone really think that makes the Padres sounds attractive?
    If his Agent let Roki he should close his business because who wants that kind of representation?
    But look just a short drive north where everyone already thinks Roki is signing. What do the Dodgers have to offer?
    Roki is also friends with Ohtani with whom he talks regularly, who will be on the Dodgers for the next 9 years and only 30. Friends with Yamamoto who age is between Ohtani and Sasaki and will also still be on the Dodgers well past Sasaki 6 year contract. Dodgers are not trying to catch anyone. They are already a winner. Already have a huge following and endorsements in Japan for Roki to piggy back on, built in! Money in 6 years? Dodgers. Farm system filled with good prospects and untouched by Soto, Cease, and Scott trades? Dodgers. Money to spend on park improvements and player development? Do I even have to say who is over $100M upgrading their park for player development this offseason?
    Then the Dodgers history and current pitching development? Dodger Pitching development goes back to 1950s and Brooklyn. Tommy John was a Dodger pitcher. Dodgers developed returning from TJ surgery. The Dodgers recent history with washed up, of little use, traded, or DFA pitchers? You mean like Treinen, Brazier, Banda, Phillips? Did Morosi even watch the Dodgers Bull pen in the 2024 World Series?
    Does Morosi ever mention all these reasons the Dodgers are the favorite? No, just they are the favorites. Someone should check on what Morosi is smoking because he is either high or just talking clicks for the invites. Because all we ever hear hear from Morosi is how good a chance the Padres have because of Yu or Seattle for pitching development (the Padres and Seattle were not even an MLB dream when the Dodgers were doing pitching development) or some other team for this or that reason.
    Okay Jon, maybe, just maybe another team. But the Padres? Because of 39 year old, 2 years left on his contract Former Dodger Pitcher (lost to Astros in the 2017 World Series) Yu? Come on, get real.

    • @Circles1999
      @Circles1999 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Your facts are quite accurate but there is another analysis of the situation.
      Yes the Padres are limited with money and cannot spend $300/year like the Dodgers, Yankees and Mets who can make a mistake or lose a player to injury but spend another $100M on a free agent to replace them. Padres have no room for error with player acquisition.
      But remember despite all the roster moves I think Preller did a great job of fielding a team that was one inning away from beating the Dodgers in the playoffs and as your manager said, the Padres series was the tougher series vs the actual world series. The Padres used to be the Dodgers little brother but no more, even if the Dodgers can outspend them by hundreds of millions of dollars.
      The Dodgers can spend $100M is upgrading their park but let's face it, this was will overdue. Petco is a much better venue than Dodger stadium and the Padres invest in upgrades every year.
      Padres are also excellent in pitcher development; see what they did to resurrect the careers of Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, Sean Manea and both Dylan Cease and Joe Musgrove threw their first no hitters in a Padre uniform.
      Sasaki might also see how the Dodgers dumped the their most valuable player in the playoffs, Buehler as a poor way to treat someone who literally carried their starting pitching when it counted the most.
      Lots of prognosticators on this thread but nobody really knows what is good for Sasaki.
      Let's see what happens next month. I suspect Preller will field another solid competitive team.
