Thanks for your reaction to Gigi. Love her voice and singing. The video was taken 3 years ago and she was only 16. During that particular session, Janice acted as her in-program coach and provided assistance with her singing. Hopefully, you will have the chance to hear her more recent singing soon. Gigi has shown significant improvement since winning the competition.

這《聲夢傳奇》是一個比賽又是一項培訓學員的節目,比賽可長達半年以上時間,這視頻中Janice 是導師, gigi 是參賽者及學員,視頻中janice不是參與比賽,只是協助學員合唱一曲,評判只會對gigi給于分數及評語,而這次比賽她取得全部三個獎項冠軍,立刻視為未來超級新星。這視頻已是三年前16歲的gigi,在15至16歲約半年時間比賽中唱了多首歌,絕大部分都超過百萬點擊,甚至3、4百萬,她的音樂可塑性太多太豐富,其實她每首歌都思考不同演繹方式,是個多變聲線的歌手,希望兩位男女主持能推介更多gigi近期及早期的參賽歌,都是那麼迷人吸引❤

Thank you for reacting on this performance. This was back to 2 years ago when Gigi was doing a singing contest and Janice was there to help (coach and sing). Gigi was 15/16 years old at that time, after learning singing for 3 years.

老師提出一個很有趣觀點，就係成熟老練, gigi 當時只有15、6歲參加比賽,但唱歌竟然非常熟練穩定,同衛蘭導師也異常融合和唱,令老師也错覺這是比賽嗎？也感謝老師讚賞這小妹妹表現出色。其實gigi不只學習西方歌手音樂,也涉獵不同歌唱音樂,也鑽研唱歌技巧,其豐富多變的聲音,已有自己獨特的gi腔唱法,加上舞台表演生動出色,令粉絲們沉醉當中❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉

May I add: Unlike many contestants, Janees is a novice singer who had never learnt singing before the competition. She has great potential to shine on bigger stages with more experience.
Janees is in fact an accomplished classical violinist formerly based in Europe, before she returned to Hong Kong a few years ago. She’s now trying to infuse her roots classical music to her pop singing (e.g. adding her own violin recitals to her songs). Her efforts are admirable 👍🏻
Gigi當然肯定沒有内地很多歌手那種澎湃力量型,但聲色藝幾乎是全面,在舞台上魅力非凡,如果這老師能觀看gigi更多舞台視頻,好肯定會令閣下感驚喜👍
Gigi 的聲線是比較全面的，不是一味好似某啲人咁靠高音同嗌歌出嚟吸引人😆
炎明燾係可以有power，例子是 Bad Romance。但更多時間佢唱高音，類似王菲嘅風格。要度身訂造一首歌才可以同時顯示兩種風格，等待中，來日方長。

Gigi is a rare breed in HK Cantopop scene. She has her own unique and signature singing style and intonation that is very cool and chic! She is becomimng the pillar of HK Cantopop scene for sure. Not about riffs and run, oone just drawn to her unique voice ! Janice was her mentor who is in a match mode of duet singing with contestants' mentors. Janice is seaoned, almost too lubricated , but in a great way!

Agreed with some commentators’ view of Janees. Janees can master a wide repertoire of different music genres. For some YT clips with better audio quality (like the 18 English and Chinese songs she performed LIVE on the RTHK2 radio broadcast), one can hear a lot of vocal details she puts into each phrase, even each word and each breath, which is so captivating.

Hi Rosette, thanks for the reaction. Gigi was only 16 while performing this song during a singing contest organized by HKTVB and she won all the awards finally. Janice was her adviser during the contest. You may easy feel that her voice was a bit tight and tired under high stress of the contest. They performed the song again in a concert one month after the contest and you may find that Gigi sang it much easy under no contest pressure situation:

This is a TV singing competition in HK 3 years ago. Gigi (then 16) was a participant. Janice was one of Gigi's mentors. This is a special round where each participant was paired with one of their mentors to sing a duet. Janice has been in the HK pop music scene since 2005. She has been taking a break since early 2023. Gigi's popularity in HK has been increasing.
Gigi singing in English reminds me of Jewel back in the 90s. She sounds quite different singing in Cantonese and Mandarin. Do look for them.
