    I’ve flown this product a few times to multiple countries and love SIA business (and first). When I flew, they didn’t have amenity kits, but nice to see they are giving them out now. I rate their service too - as someone who likes wine, they keep an eye out and top up when needed. For ultra long haul, I immediately put the seat into bed mode, hunt for a second blanket to act as a mattress and settle in. Even have all my meals in that mode! Nice and snug.

    I have flown this 350 from SFO to SIN. The leg room is poor for someone tall. On the other hand, their 777 is great.

    Not a big fan of SQ's long haul business class because of the offset footwell situation and the seats seem to close togeather.

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The footwell offset I feel is becoming more and more common. It can be okay if the cabin is set up correctly. As for the seats, I agree they are a bit closer, but they’re so large that you still feel like you’ve got your own space. I’m 5’ 9” and stayed pretty comfy

      There are 2 variant of A350-900 on SQ , this one is better. The angled sitting on the other business class is worst.

    9:42 and 9:47, They have in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, before going inside the gate, I have to and pass though security and water is not allowed in security and it's so annoying. But luckily, they have water filling inside the gate, which is good to refill the water bottle.

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The water filling stations are great, although I am a bit of a water snob.... which I know people will hate on. But the minerals in some places taste a bit funky, so depending on where I am, I sometimes prefer the bottled water

    • @kevin19358
      @kevin19358 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see. Same for me, I prefer filling up my water bottle. Because some countries, including the US, before arriving at the gate, there is no need to pass security, which is good to refill my water bottle after immigration and security, that's what we want.

    Interesting review. I've been flying SIA since the 80s and have seen a significant drop in the quality of service on the ground and in the cabin (with some exceptions, of course). Along with most, I am not a fan of their business class seat. It's an odd setup with a narrow footwell that can be quite awkward. I've also found their IFE is behind class leaders in that area like Qatar and Emirates. The food in business has generally been good. Book the Cook makes a big difference in quality whether in Suites, business class, or Premium Economy. And Changi Airport -- it continues to amaze. The first time I flew into it long ago it was great. And it has only gotten better with every successive year. The Jewel is really something to see. Nonetheless, I'll be back on SIA soon because their nonstop from SFO is a good route, and their produce and service are still leaps and bounds better than what UA offers on the same route.
    I have to ask, what's wrong with the audio? Lots of noise in the background, buzzing noise that is not from the aircraft, and your narration sounds like it was done on a speaker phone.

  • @jackyu1143
    @jackyu1143 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Singapore Airlines fan here. The reason you see mostly widebody jets in Changi is that we're a tiny country with no domestic market. The flights that operate out of Changi are all international. There are some A320s and B737s for sure, but most jets are widebodies.

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great input! I did notice, however, that even on some short routes like the hour long flight to Kuala Lumpur, they used the A350 as well. Love the concept of these beautiful airplanes being used, just a foreign concept when I'm used to seeing half of an airport full of CRJs/ERJs!

    • @jackyu1143
      @jackyu1143 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PatrickSheaAviation Yes, in days past, SIN-KUL used to be served exclusively by B777s. However, in recent years, SilkAir took some over some of the routes. That's when the A320s and B737s started appearing. Singapore Airlines has since merged with SilkAir and now all the narrowbodies are in SIA livery, earning them the nickname Baby SQ. Make no mistake, I LOVE widebodies and totally ABHOR narrowbodies, unless I'm flying in a unique place like Greenland or Iceland. As an example, Air Greenland flies Dash 8s on its domestic routes. Otherwise, on all my trips, I choose to fly widebodies if can help it! :)

    Overall a great airline however I have had some ordinary experiences even in F cabins as only pax .
    Nevertheless, I always recall a late J seat out of HKG where catering was not guaranteed and sat in last row 773, and still choice of 3 meals in a full cabin or even left over Book Cook meals.
    Compare that to CX and QF out of HKG , where choice in J runs out in row 3.
    Safe travels,Sir.

    Perhaps you were in the terminal with long haul flights so you get the long haul aircraft like A350, A380 and B787. But they do have smaller B737 aircraft which they inherited from Silk Air. These would be in a different terminal with all the regional flights.
    How many passengers were on this flight, Patrick?

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We did see a few 737s on the runways, but the ratio seemed to be skewed differently then I’m used to seeing. Our flight was sold out to 100% capacity. They even moved a couple people to fly through LAX. We were on the A350ULR which seats 67 in business and 94 in premium economy. There is no economy on this airplane

    The small plane is a B737 Max 8 used for Australia Cairns Philippines Singapore to Davao& Cebu from Singapore Changi. Also SQ34/33 has Filipino passengers from Cebu and Davao City to SFO via SIN because it's better for them to avoid PR104/114 to SFO via MNL. Regarding SQ A350-900ulr the registrations of them are reused from the A340-500s. A380 you saw is the SIN to JFK via FRA flights round trip. B787-10 SIN-PER/MNL rotating with A350-900 regional versions.

      Absolutely! I would fly them again in a heartbeat. Gotta rack up some more miles before then

    Do we need any membership to get into the silverkris lounge?

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was able to get in with my business class ticket alone. I do believe Star Alliance Priority works as well. I am not sure if they have any sort of lounge memberships

    28:38, Oh beef is my 2nd favorite that I love to eat, but this time with rice and it's delicious. Unfortunately, I don't eat meals in the plane, unless I pay for the meal like chicken or beef with rice or pre order online, before the flight.

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The beef was good, but airlines serve beef most commonly since they can keep it tender, so I've been trying to mix it up a bit

      I see. The beef, mix with the rice will taste good and delicious.

    Awesome video. I just did the NY to Changi and back business class on the A350 ULR. Their services were awesome. Love that the seats turn into beds, was so comfortable for that 19 hrs flight!

    Potentially excellent review, spoiled by your added very loud background music which 3 minutes into the video became most annoying. It would have been good to have given us the sounds of the jet engines on take-off and landing as well as the crew announcements. Thank you.
