    This is the nth time they asked for a fencing/thrusting sword on the show, and the nth time they did a flex test.
    Watching DB bend a sword that much hasn't gotten easier.

    • @punicwars2
      @punicwars2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      but why do they do a cut test to a thrusting sword? whats next? stabing with an axe?

    • @javierpatag3609
      @javierpatag3609 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@punicwars2 Rapiers can still slash and cut. They still have a sharpened edge unlike the smallsword or the estoc. Of course, they're not as good at it as a dedicated cutting weapon.
      But I do get your point. If you want to see Forged in Fire wrongly test a weapon, look up their Sodegarami episode. They treated the Japanese man-catcher as a straight-up bashing weapon when it's really designed to entangle on a target's clothing.

      @@jasonprosser7392 We opened it up as a Makerspace about 2 years ago to do just like you are suggesting - people can rent space in my shop/school to do everything from hobby smithing to running a business and we will advise them on anything they need help with. So the shop is mine, but it's set up to support pretty much any metal project you can imagine and we take care of our equipment. :)

    • @Kilroysworkshop

      I love my shop! It didn't happen overnight for sure. I've been building it for about 30 years and started teaching about seven years ago. The school has grown to over 3,500 students this year and three instructors from the school have been on the show now. Thousands of knives and hundreds of swords are made here every year, so the two heat treat ovens get a ton of use. We are the only American Bladesmith Society school in the west too, so to teach those kinds of classes requires up-to-date equipment. That said -- I didn't own a power hammer or press until a couple of years ago, and those ovens are relatively new. It was all hand-work and by eye to that point.. The horsepower is nice!

      The Hattori Hanzo or Highlander katanas would be better. (Connor MacLeod's or Duncan MacLeod's, dragon heads are different).
      The best weapon against ROUS is firearms. Preferably full auto, belt-fed. MG-42/MG-3 should do nicely. Ma Deuce, Miniguns or any M61 20mm family weapons would be overkill.
