I really hate conversion therapy. I hate it when Christians say "no one is born gay", and statements like "all gay people have been either sexually abused or affected by the modern society" . How do they know this without beeing gay themself? I am 34, I grew up in norway, when I was a teenager we did not had wifi, we only have a slow expensive modem internet. It was primary used for work and school, and closest thing to social media was m.IRC, homosexuality was rarely mention in the news, and it was not a topic among people in the society. Pride did not exist (in norway at that time), in school I heard the word gay the first time when I was 12 in a short sentence, thats all I learned from homosexuality from 1th to 7th grade. And I was not a victim of abuse, not attracted by the society, I rarely heard the word 'gay' and knew almost nothing about it. But still I was attacted to men So I am not affected by society, and had at that time never been abused, but I still I was gay at that time, and as of today I am still gay also 😊 I can comfirm that this is possible even without beeing a victim of abuse and without beeing affected by modern society, I can say it from my own life

I love how every one of these Christian movies has a character who hates god because they have a family member dying of cancer. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. They never just have atheists, straight up atheists. It’s like they can’t even conceive of someone who legitimately just doesn’t believe in god.
IIRC, there was an episode of The Simpsons where Todd Flanders announced at church one Sunday that he couldn't believe in God anymore because his mother Maude had died. The rest of the episode has Todd being kicked out of the house by his father Ned and Lisa, trying to convert Todd to Buddhism. In the end, when Ned and Homer were at the threshold of death, Todd regained his faith back, and Homer and Ned survived.
"Just because you have the urge to do something, doesn't mean you should" also doesn't mean you shouldn't. This is too broad of an argument to mean anything. Just because an animal evolves from a species doesn't mean the original species dies every time. Dogs evolved from wolves but wolves are still alive . The Bible doesn’t even have the original versions of the books in it, we know that some of the stories were added to later editions, there are translation errors and contradictions from start to finish, and I finally had to accept the fact that the Bible isn’t inerrant. It’s just an arbitrarily compiled collection of writings that were poorly translated and put next to each other.
There's a lot of mistranslations in the Bible which makes it hard to trust anything that doesn't seem explicitly nice like love thy neighbor. (Keep in mind, that when I say "you" in this response, it's more a general rule rather than directly arguing against you personally.) It's so frustrating to hear. If you want to let God influence your intentions, that's your choice, but you cannot force us to do the same. "You're going against God's law." No, YOU are because God advocates for free will, which trying to silence us goes directly against. "But we're using our free will to go against people the Bible speaks against." Look, there's a way you can practice your beliefs without contradicting yourself. Even if you argue that Leviticus didn't speak incorrectly, how is silencing us a good solution? You don't have to support us, but it'd be a lot more accurate to let us live peacefully. "Gay marriage is abominable." Not every Christian believes that and you should let them give us the rights we deserve. If you prefer God's law over the laws protecting us, then at what point are you going to do something about it?
As a bisexual Christian, let me just say I HATE when people twist God's word like this. There is no biblical evidence condemning homosexual love and relationships, and any mention of it being "bad" is in relation to an already lustful sin. It is a GROSS misunderstanding of our Lord's words, when people go on to be hateful towards others for being a way they can't help, when not only is that way not bad, but also even if it hypothetically was like people think, God literally tells us to not judge and instead pray. I am happy with my boyfriend, a fellow LGBT Christian for those wondering, I love him so much and we both understand unlike these self-acclaimed "men of God" Edit: This comment will be deleted in an unspecified amount of time. This is, not to suggest any dismissal of others opinions, but rather me realizing my own view will only cause arguments. Edit 2: Perhaps I wont thinking about it. I could go into a big argument about other verses that have been mentioned, and how to disprove they outright condemn homosexuality, but, I don't wanna do that, I never wanna turn anything into some big rage debate. I hope others who see this are fine.
Ok, I'm genuinely curious (not being a dick). How do you interpret "leviticus 20 13" If a man lies with a male as with a woman, they have committed an abomination; the two of them shall be put to death; their bloodguilt is upon them. ?
I hate to disagree because I really feel for you, but what makes your interpretation of this passage more correct than another’s who may interpret it as more literal? What is your evidence beyond possible translation discrepancies? Not that super conservative leaning Christian’s won’t constantly do this for other parts of the Bible as well. These were questions I started to ask myself as a former LGBT Christian as well, and the many unreconcilable elements of the Bible clashing with our reality today led me away from faith. Thanks for covering this video, it's really dreadful, I used to be completely into PureFlix and all that Evangelical nonsense, anyways: If anyone was curious, those interviews are indeed real, it's from a street preacher guy named Ray Comfort. As a Gay Christian, and for most of the modern Christian community, we really despise him, he pretty much goes around college campuses and randomly strikes random college students with deep philosophical questions and theological arguments that people generally don't care or are quite archaic compared to most modern beliefs, all simultaneously recording, and trying to convert them to his radical views; he often edits this footage, leaving in the parts where the person being interviewed gets stumped or "agrees" with Ray, his videos are notorious for this. In summary, if a street preacher approaches you with a camera and mic, just say "no thank you."
So some interesting things about this movie. First of all, the guy doing the street interviews is the director and writer, which explains why they're so heavily featured in the film. He's man by the name of Ray Comfort who's pretty infamous amongst non believers for trying to use a banana to prove God. Another interesting things is the two main leads have actually come out and said they aren't actually Christian and don't necessarily believe the messages the movie promotes, and I think the female lead actually donated to some charities as an apology if i remember correctly. Apparently the reason for them agreeing to the role was for them to "do something different" Whether that's truly the case or they're just trying to cover for themselves i don't know.
@el-bubby it is, and it's so laughable how Ray thinks his methods are so effective to where he featured them so heavily thinking they're convincing enough.
I’m pretty sure Leviticus 18 22 means something completely different than what people think it means because… we all like to forget… *WE DON’T TALK LIKE THAT ANYMORE!!! OUR LANGUAGE OF COMMUNICATION IMPROVED OVER THE YEARS!!!*
It does mean something completely different. Tribal societies at that time were based on a perceived social and sexual hierarchy of domination and penetration. Sex wasn't so much a shared expression of love and intimacy as something that one person did to another. Specifically, it was something a man did to a woman, since men were seen as superior. For a man to have sex with another man violated that hierarchy, since one man necessarily had to assume the subservient position.

I've been raised a Christian my whole life, and I do have Faith in God, but I for one, don't label myself as a Christian. I don't think people should be categorized, and essentially saying I'm definitively this, or I'm definitively that, causes division. It comes across almost predatory to me. I just like to say, I believe in Jesus, and that be the end of it. I don't label myself as different or better than someone else simply because of what I believe. The whole concept of being gay is sinful, is something I was taught, and believed for the longest time. After I learned that other animals besides homosapiens practice homosexuality, and some other things, I've realized that it doesn't seem that the act of being gay or being attracted to/loving someone is what's considered "sin." It's the act and thoughts of lusting that's sinful. You can be heterosexual, but still be sexually immoral if you're married and lusting after other women. That's not only bad by Biblical standards, that's bad in general lol. It's moreso the immoral sexual lust that's sinful, not the act of being straight or gay. Great video with a lot of great points!
@Dexuz Free sex? What does that even mean? Sex before marriage is considered sinful, any kind of sex or immoral sexual thought is meant to be sinful outside of marriage.
@@Amfneey Yeah, God will punish you eternally if you ever dare to have casual sex outside of marriage. Did you know casual sex exists in nature too? Chimps do it.

I never understood why people use the Leviticus verse so much. Leviticus was a list of rules for the Jews hundreds of years ago. Not only are all Christians considered gentiles (in the religious sense- there are definitely Christians with Jewish heritage) but this was also hundreds if not thousands of years ago I read a phd paper on this a while back, and one of the main reasons this law was likely put into place was because of the small Jewish population, leading to the huge need to procreate. I’m like 99% sure that Jesus never said anything about homosexuality. If he did, someone please give me the verse lol
There is a simple answer to this: Cherrypicking! Most christians don't fully support their own scriptures and just choose what they want to justify judging people they don't like. If any christian would follow the whole bible, old and new testament, 100% with no exceptions, then we'd probably have more christians being put in jail for child-murder after stoning their unruly kids. Not joking btw, just read Deuteronomy 21:18-21 if you think I'm exagerating.
Paul does speak against casual sex however, and since gay sex would always be casual sex (outside of wedlock) then it's quite evident that it is forbidden. Why to even consider those ancient customs? It's better to call them all for what they are, enslaving.
Levitivus also says that eating shrimp is evil, and wearing poliester and cotton is evil, and planting beans next to Brussels sprouts is evil. It's a list of the most arbitrary nonsense to be concidered evil that only maybe has context for someone living in the desert 3000 years ago. And regardless, who cares, it's a book that says a guy can repopulate the earth with 2 of each animal, that reality is created in 6 days and that there are giant sea snakes, unless one takes this book extremely metaphorically, it should in no way be used to dictate modern human civilisation, myght as well use the epic of gilgamesh, or the journey to the west

I understand your struggle. My great uncle knew he was gay since he was 8 and was practically forced into a straight relationship. He finally divorced her with no hard feelings and got married to his husband after years of being told he isn't allowed to like men. My advice, tell your father first and be honest you're afraid to tell others, and maybe ask for him to be present when telling your mother to give moral support. You're absolutely not in the wrong for being queer. I told my grandmother first and she was supportive all the way. You'll have others who will love you regardless
Here’s what I think of religious people. It’s fine to believe whatever you want as long as you aren’t marching to take other’s rights away. If you notice others are scared of your religion then please inform yourself on why rather than just assume “it’s because mankind is evil.” Remember that Jesus got pissed off at the Pharisees because their actions created a barrier between others and religion. So if people start acting on edge around you then perhaps you are more Pharisee like than you care to admit? After all I DON’T care what people do as long as it’s harmless and you pay your taxes. So if I SEEM to care about your actions then it’s probably because your actions are negatively affecting others.

We drove other hominins ( nearly human beings with similar characteristics , similar intelligence but small differences present like different dog breeds) extinct because we either beat them in outright combat , assimilated them into our race by breeding with them(like different dog breeds being able to have offspring) or they got wiped out by natural disasters leaving us the only hominin standing today . When I was a Christian I used to read entire Bible through and then study it in the original languages, and that’s part of what made me question the validity of the Bible. The Bible doesn’t even have the original versions of the books in it, we know that some of the stories were added to later editions, there are translation errors and contradictions from start to finish, and I finally had to accept the fact that the Bible isn’t inerrant. I love how that one gay man schooling the protagonist so hard has the only genuinely great scene in the entire movie and it absolutely slaps, and we're supposed to think that the homophobe leaving like a worm after failing to give an answer is the hero?
Someone wrote this into a script: A lesbian woman runs out of gas on the train tracks, didn't notice she was on it, a random christian guy came to save her in a desolated area from the train and at the end she turned christian and straight
I remember seeing this comment that said "It's not what God intended for relationships" and that disgusted me.
(Keep in mind, that when I say "you" in this response, it's more a general rule rather than directly arguing against you personally.)
It's so frustrating to hear.
@@WillieManga Nice speech

As a bisexual Christian, let me just say I HATE when people twist God's word like this. There is no biblical evidence condemning homosexual love and relationships, and any mention of it being "bad" is in relation to an already lustful sin. It is a GROSS misunderstanding of our Lord's words, when people go on to be hateful towards others for being a way they can't help, when not only is that way not bad, but also even if it hypothetically was like people think, God literally tells us to not judge and instead pray. I am happy with my boyfriend, a fellow LGBT Christian for those wondering, I love him so much and we both understand unlike these self-acclaimed "men of God"
Edit: This comment will be deleted in an unspecified amount of time.
@@Popirnot I still stand by the fact it talks about the act of sexual immorality.
Regardless I hope you and your boyfriend are safe and in an accepting community.
@@arkthegreenwolfx3627You’re lying or just misinformed. 1 Timothy 1:8-11 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 exist, actually do research before you spill your disgusting misinformed opinion all over the internet.
@@arkthegreenwolfx3627Leviticus 20:13 isn’t talking about immortality as you say when it literally says men lying with other men as with women. Nothing here suggests that it’s in relation to sexual immorality rather than directly to the homosexuality. It clearly says the act of the two men is bad and immorality isn’t mentioned.
(I have other replies that only show in newest first, but they say 1 Timothy 1:8-11 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 disprove your point and the Bible does in fact talk about gayness)

Thanks for covering this video, it's really dreadful, I used to be completely into PureFlix and all that Evangelical nonsense, anyways:
If anyone was curious, those interviews are indeed real, it's from a street preacher guy named Ray Comfort.
"He's man..." Mmm... subject to debate? XD
@el-bubby it is, and it's so laughable how Ray thinks his methods are so effective to where he featured them so heavily thinking they're convincing enough.
Those actors sound like nice people.❤🏳️🌈
I’m pretty sure Leviticus 18 22 means something completely different than what people think it means because… we all like to forget…
*WE DON’T TALK LIKE THAT ANYMORE!!!
@@joshuakohlmann9731 mind if you explain that to people who can’t understand that?
@@OzonialLayering Please do. I learned it from a Christian scholar called Dan Mcclellan, who has a lot of informative videos on TH-cam...credit where it's due!

@@Robin_hsr12 but just to clarify in the end, that doesn’t make being LGBTQIA a “sin” in the end, right?

As a Christian i find it stupid to hate on lgbtq.
The worst part about it is that if you actually believe that being gay send you to hell, then the right thing to do would be to be homophobic because hell is infinitely worse than people thinking you’re rude. So the only way to solve this is to get rid of the belief that homosexuality is a sin, but that would mean asking people to admit that the Bible isn’t perfect… which is gonna be hard
16:16 That audience laughing scene felt very stock footage for some reason. It’s just slightly disconnected and generic.
Some people are just never going to change, you can’t make them just as much as they can’t make you become religious even though they believe they can. This is why more people are going to leave eventually.
That's right. If people want to change it has to be because they want to.
The pope actually really said homosexuality is cool but everybody forgot that part
still very confused about which parts of the old testament Christians actually think they should follow. so hmmmm.
My parent used to make me watch Living Waters all the time and I do it now for religious studies and they do this type of interview so much. Sometimes they even just ask people if they think they are bad people and then list reasons why they are and tell them they are going to hell unless they kiss up to god.
🤮🤮🤮
I love your commentary!!! The Popeye joke was delightful 🤣Like I totally agree in the scene where he's texting his coworker, like it would have made so much sense if he, idk, called his parents first but they didn't pick up so THEN he reaches out to her? It's small things like that which can make a difference logically but also since this is a homophobic film I don't know why I would expect things like FACTS AND LOGIC 🥴 Subscribed and I look forward to watching more videos!! I love the idea of the scriptwriter/director/etc actually being queer or an ally and sneaking their legit beliefs into the film, just trying to get homophobes' money bc they need the bag but giving the queer characters all the good, logical, and sympathetic lines LOL
According to the Bible, free sex is a sin, and thus sexual immorality.
Sorry but that is just ridiculous.
@Amfneey ALSO ALSO sex back then wasn't ever done in a loving aspect. Leviticus could be referencing not the fact that it's say gex. But instead that a male is taking the submissive position.
@Robin_hsr12 That is true. It was mainly orgy's and stuff like that in cults wasn't it? It was never about love or anything like that.
I never understood why people use the Leviticus verse so much. Leviticus was a list of rules for the Jews hundreds of years ago. Not only are all Christians considered gentiles (in the religious sense- there are definitely Christians with Jewish heritage) but this was also hundreds if not thousands of years ago
I read a phd paper on this a while back, and one of the main reasons this law was likely put into place was because of the small Jewish population, leading to the huge need to procreate.
I’m like 99% sure that Jesus never said anything about homosexuality. If he did, someone please give me the verse lol
There is a simple answer to this:
Cherrypicking!
He did, in both old and new testament, He is The Holy Spirit, and The Holy Spirit wrote the scriptures by the pen of the writer and giving them information and truths and knowledge only He wants the world to know.
@@mickruiz7867 If it’s Paul’s letters I personally don’t believe those were actually divinely inspired since they were, well, letters and contained a lot about the culture of the time, not timeless messaging. But that’s just my opinion lol, I’m not sure how hot of a take that is 😂
My mother is a born again christian and i still havent told her that im queer. My family thinks its wrong (except my father.)
It got to a point that my mother blamed my father "because of your faulty genetics, our child is a genetic failure". For what? Because my dad's brothers are gay? Fuck

If you notice others are scared of your religion then please inform yourself on why rather than just assume “it’s because mankind is evil.”
Remember that Jesus got pissed off at the Pharisees because their actions created a barrier between others and religion.
So if people start acting on edge around you then perhaps you are more Pharisee like than you care to admit?
After all I DON’T care what people do as long as it’s harmless and you pay your taxes.
So if I SEEM to care about your actions then it’s probably because your actions are negatively affecting others.
