As an older guy still existing in a changing world, it's refreshing to see someone from a younger generation that can interpret a song written well before they were born, arrange it for a single instrument, but keep the feeling, the emotion, the flavor of the original. The vocal line, the harmony, even percussion, all different than the original, but still the same. I don't know how you do it Gabriella, or how you keep doing it, but you amaze me every time. You're a shining light in our times. Thank you. God bless you...

Ok, You made me cry. Back in 1974 I sang this tune to my mom at waters edge in Jamaica. That was the one she always asked for. She's gone now, but not forgotten. Thanks for the memory. Your playing gets better and better!❤️
This musical gem, a masterpiece, was released in 1971 by David Gates (Bread). I was 10 years old, today I am 63, 53 years have passed and it continues to cause a beautiful sensation when remembering those childhood times. Thank you Gabriela for bringing it back to me.🌹

Not only is your rendering of every song you play extraordinary you happen to have great taste In quality music which makes you an even greater blessing! Thank you sweet person!
What a beautiful choice of songs! My older sister used to play a lot of Bread when I was little. Not many people your age even know who they are. David Gates, Jimmy Griffin, Larry Knechtel, Mike Botts and Robb Royer would be very impressed with your version. Thanks, Gabby! Enjoy your day and be safe !! Much love from Canada
I love how your arrangements capture the subtle nuances of the original vocalization. So glad to see you still producing these videos! Merci beaucoup madame!
You really play so effortlessly that it looks that playing guitar is so easy. But it's not. I play a little, but it's nothing compared to you. Thanks for sharing your magic my friend Gabriella.
You are so right. I play half a song, practice, practice, practice until I'm tired of the song because I can't master it the way she does. When I say practice I'm talking weeks of practice. I just don't know how she does it so effortlessly.
@ She was certainly born with talent, but to suggest that she didn't and doesn't practice relentlessly undermines her efforts. I'm sure she's worked extremely hard to get where she is with her abilities.
This is the first song I learned how to play on the guitar. Not as good as her, but it brought tears to my eyes. "Then you and I will simply fly away." Magic.
@@hughaskew6550 We got some without before. And Gabby quickly realized how much we love it, so now she makes sure she gives us a smile, sometimes in the middle as well as at the end. She's a blessing.
@Gary Carraigeacha I haven't watched all of her videos; I just discovered her this month. I think I remember some with a more severe haircut and a different look where she maintained a rather staid appearance right on through the end. Her smile looks so honest and genuine that I almost want to skip to the end of the song to see it first -- but that would take away the anticipation.
In my opinion this is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written and so it was hard to imagine I could hear an instrumental version that would evoke the same emotion. You did it. That is the definition of true artistry and musicianship.
I'm an older musician and I remember learning this song in the '70s as well as a host of other Bread songs. Thank you for this gorgeous fingerstyle arrangement; it's great to see a young person reimage a timeless folk classic. You have great talent, good luck... (from Australia).
Oh, such a lovely song. Not many people know or appreciate that song. That song fits perfectly your style. Heavenly arrangement and outstanding performance as always. 😊👍

Summer nights laying in a grassy field out in back of our house......transistor radio playing this on the AM station- really takes me back (like 40+ years back)
I just happened on this browsing songs from my youth. I didn't expect a guitar instrumental so refined and just plain cool from someone so young! Nice.
"The Face That Launch'd A Thousand Ships"☆ The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus - Christopher Marlowe (1564 - 1593) ☆Today, the face that launched a thousand ships is still most often used to described the unsurpassed beauty of Helen of Troy, though it may be used to described the beauty of any woman. The term is also parodied.
I agree, the phrasing inherent in the song gives it a chance to 'breathe' a little more, this could have been played with a tiny bit more variation in tempo and phrasing emphasis to even better effect. She is not the most powerful player with the greatest dynamic range either -- which only makes one listen more intently to catch it all. I'm new here but -- this is a classic player, playing a smallish folk-style, rather than classic, instrument. I would love to hear this on a nylon-stringed classic instrument for comparison. Presentation is perfecto!
If is one of my all time favorite songs and once again you played it flawlessly. You are an inspiration to more people than you know. Thank you for your gifting us with your Talent.

Beautifully played as always Gabriella with a killer Smile Ending.
Your smile?

It was a bit longer that time, too. We are blessed.
Yes the smile at the end was wonderful.

If a picture paints a thousand words
Then why I can't paint you?
The words will never show
the you I've come to know
If a face could launch a thousand ships
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you
You're all that's left me too
And when my love for life is running dry
You come and pour yourself on me
If a man could be two places at one time
I'd be with you
Tomorrow and today
Beside you all the way
If the world should stop revolving
Spinning slowly down to die
I'd spend the end with you
And when the world was through
Then one by one the stars would all go out
And you and I would simply fly away
Woah ...
Masterpiece
