Imagine the meltdown she must’ve had the day she went shopping, and the store didn’t have presliced mushrooms. The audacity of that store to give our auntie so much stress!
you know Sandy is so chill and nice and lovely to service industry workers.... but I feel like she goes full Karen when the pre-sliced mushrooms (or her preferred brand of vanilla vodka) are sold out!
what's up with all the "controlling how much I use" of the nonfat cooking spray this episode? please don't tell me we're counting calories on such a micro level
Of course it was. I remember this "hack" being taught at Weight Watchers I was 14 but my mom told me to lie and say I was 17 so I could go to meetings.. ughhhhhhhhh
It’s very semi homemade to use cooking spray so she doesn’t have to transfer the oil into another pour bottle. Instead she just has to press a button to spray oil.
Oh I thought it was like it's hard to measure accurately yourself (and so you use more than you need - counting pennies!). But my naivety aside, yes too much language which is calorie-restriction adjacent in this one. Maybe it was the trend at the time and Food Network were weaving it in across the board. Doesn't make it any less uncomfy.
YES! The infamous "stunned mushrooms" episode! Bless you! LIVING for the fact that brown is considered gorgeous in Aunt Sandy's Semi-Ho World, which makes so much sense! 1:55
Did I miss the seasoning? No salt? No pepper? No magical seasoning packet? That rice will be bland AF except for that massive orange zest punch in the face.
EVERYONE taste buds are different. But I think she's deliberately trying to piss off food network: "Hey I asked for a segment of solely tablescapes and cocktails. Not this sht so yeah I'ma waste your fcking time"
Everyone taste buds are different but this has cranberries, orange zest, water Chestnut from can, celery and mushrooms. I never ate Cranberries and mushrooms together... but to each it's own
“Well I am stunned. Just stunned. Stunned is the only way to describe how… stunned I am.”
Another Golden Girls fan here! 👏🏻
Are you trying to tell us...that you are stunned?
Are you mad that Olga Nielsen forgave her sister? 😂

Well, I'm devastated, just devastated. Devastated is the only way to describe how devastated I am.
And I was watching that episode just a couple of weeks ago too! 😂😂
Reminds me of a bowl of potpourri
"every lil color under the sun"

Aunt Sandy was restricting herself to bodybuilding competition levels of measurement
The rice ended up looking like a bowl of bird food
I commented that in the last video that showed the preview of the dishes. 😂
Little do we know that spray can was filled with vodka

She only seasons like 0.1% of her russipes.
Ehhm excuse you she used low salt chicken stock for flayyvur
Is Maxine colorblind? Colorful rice is pretty brown.
When she said she had to "buy a whole bag, bring them home, wash them, cut them, 10 minutes later" I felt that!!
Maxxxine from California?? Mia Goth has been working on her character for *years* then
Was just about to say I got the best email from Maxine in California… do not accept a rice you don’t deserve
Its someone even crazier. Maxine Waters!
How dare the grocery store inconvenience Aunt Sandy!
1:03 when someone gets eliminated on rupaul's drag race
sauté you stay
@@nickk5948 now sizzle that wok

“and that is a very asian ingredient”
Idk why that’s so funnyyyy she’s not wrong but like…
"Cilantro really is like parsley for these countries in the East."
-Aunt Sandy, ca. 2000-something
10 minutes laterrrrr
For a second I thought that can of chestnuts said "erotic cooking"
Is it wrong that I like this one?

I would try her chicken cherry burger but using turkey instead ....like thanksgiving. People think I'm nut for it
THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SLICED MUSHROOMS! IT WAS JUST GHASTLY! MY DAY RUINED!
Not Sandra highlighting the central flaw of Semi-Homemade--reliance on pre-made ingredients until they're no longer available--as an anecdote!
Was Maxine an imaginary friend?
IDK? But after the dried cranberries, pecans, and canned water chestnuts; I have questions.
she's a smart semi-homemaker!
Who would eat this?
Why she have to say her name so often? 🤔
I’m sure it tastes ok, but it looks like dirt.
