I really love this kind of video, it's new and super for your fans, fans of WT or just fan of electric guitars.
In fact you and Stefan are two great guitarists, with different styles, but it's really perfect for Within Temptation's songs.

I really enjoyed this video and it was something I was waiting for a while, before you came out with this idea, I always wanted to listen to your solos played by Stefan and vice versa.
I have to say Our Solemn Hour and Faster are my two fav WT guitar solo and it was interesting to listen both versions.
Both of you has a very recognizable style and that's amazing, I think you are two great musicians and I love how your sound blend when you are playing together, just like the other WT guys. Six people that become one.
I always thought that in art, technique is important but the pulse of your passion is the key. You can have a huge technique but if you don't feel it, people can't feel it too. Both of you really move my soul when I listen to you playing, and also when I hear you talking about in your vlogs, I feel your passion and the love in what you do and that's really important.
Thanks once again for this video, can't wait for the next one.

Ruud, great job putting this video together, interesting subject and I always appreciate the insight that is put into making music.
This is great Ruud, and it is definitely interesting to see how that in the modern era of seeing EXACTLY how things are played it might limit experimentation. and development of one's own techniques and fingerings. There's at least one video on YT showing the Tornado of Souls solo played by Marty, Broderick and Kiko...all 3 are amazing and all 3 different. I'll be happy when I can play any of your solos with any array of techniques. :)
This a really great video also gives more understanding in how to learn to play guitar and that you need observe which play stile is most suited for you and that not every guitarist can do the same tricks

Brilliant stuff. Fascinating insight into different playing styles.
I think that different playing styles (in this case between you and Stefan) gives more unique music to Within Temptation, and its really intersting. In my opinion, both of you bring your part of music, melody, heavy and more and more of those awesome details, that makes WT so great to listening (sorry for my english). Thank you guys, its super!
I found this very interesting! I love that idea to show how different styles in art just can't be really comapared in terms of what's better/what's worse because everything is unique but still most artists (at least as far as I know) strive for "perfection" in technique and forget about the artistry. Music remains a mystery for me, I can try how hard I want but it's just too hard 😂 (good, that I wanna teach dance later where you have to work with music 😂🤦♀️) But yea, anyway, I love that format!

Really enjoyed that. May be next time some discussion on how the solo was developed/composed originally, especially in relation to the underlying harmony (chords), would be very interesting to me.
Good point although that might be something for a lessen maybe 🤔

Love it.. I allways try to find out with new WT music who is playing the guitar solo.. mostly the solo's you play Ruud I found more showman or as I say "uitsloverig" not in a bad way. But I feel like you like to show off more then Stefan

Nice video Ruud. Who plays Lost guitar solo you or Stefan? It would be nice if we had a lesson with that solo. PS I'm not a guitarist just a WT fan but these lessons are very interesting. Details that you don't notice but that make a difference in a solo.
