    He my there!! I just wanted to thank you for this video, it was the best video I found because it was unbiased. I decided to buy a divevolk with a magnifying lens. I wanted to ask you when to take off the protection from the lens and from the screen when diving ? After your in the water ? On the boat trip ? I appreciate your help and thanks again for taking the time to make this video

      If you are talking about the phones glass protector? Then obviously be for Eni get on the boat. I have found I can use a screen protector but you need to be very deliberate and also use assistive touch. If you are talking about any membrane or lens protector then also yes prior to diving. I do not take the membrane protector underwater. One more thing to lose. It would be nice for them to develop one that can snap on off underwater

    Very interesting review and has helped a lot in helping me to veer towards getting the SeaTouch 4 Max to use with my iPhone 13 pro. I do have a few legacy wet lens from other set ups - both WA and macro. Assuming that the mm is OK is there any reason not to use these? Also am I correct in understanding that the housing cannot be attached to an arm without the lens holder?

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair question. Yes, you need the lens holder bracket assembly in order to attach it to a tray or 'arm'. You can do that without actually putting the lens holding slider bar on. However, it leaves a large gap between the holding bracket and the top of the screw. I would be concerned about tension strength, as I've seen movement of the two clip on parts of the assembly without the slider bracket on. The slider bracket actually is normally positioned over the lower right portion of the top part of the assembly, providing additional support. Hope this helps..

      @@PhilipAmswych as long as they are centered properly. I used a wet lens from a different manufacturer. I had to use an adapter because it was a different mm size. I had mixed results. But that was on me, as I was trying to do a few things instead on concentrating on just testing the cannibalized lens.

    Thanks a lot for your reviews. I just got this lens for my Divevolk SeaTouch 4. I’m a little bit confused after dry testing it on the surface. Because with my iPhone 14 Pro Max (centered on the main lens) I don’t see any difference. With or without the lens, exactly the same area is captured. Like it’s just glass which doesn’t do anything. What am I doing wrong?

    Have you used the wide angle wet lens with an iPhone 15pro max yet? For some reason it won’t focus unless my phone camera is in macro mode, which is annoying, because it means a I can’t shoot on the main camera, which gives me the best raw image quality. Any thoughts?

      I have not used it with the 15 pro. First. I would, as I mentioned in video make sure the WA wet lens is centered over the PRIMARY CAMERA LENS. Not just over all 3. Try that. Let me know.

    Hello, been watching your videos because I want to get, and already got, a seatouch4 max. I will use it with an iPhone XR, but will het an iPhone 13 soon. Question is, how well does the iphone’s ultra wide work on its own with the Divevolk case?

    • @watertrek360

      The iPhone ultra wide work very well check out my video on the west end Cayman Island shipwrecks. I used the .5X wide angle for most of those wrecks.

    • @watertrek360

      @@Gymrat76 I have used the external WA with the internal wide angle. The trick is that it has to be directly centered over the internal wide angle lens to limit any vignetting, which can be tricky. While you're diving, play with the internal WA and then external WA with the standard 1X. let me know which one you like better. HAVE FUN!!

    Hello.
    Got the same lens today from DV also for a review I am still yet to make. Nice content you have there.
    My reviews are in Portuguese, (with the exception of some old ones) so no issues there in terms of "competition" but I have one note: These kind of correctional wet lenses are not domes and should not be used for split photos. The optics are not good for it and also, because they only "work" with water between the camera lens and the correctional lens.
    If you see the video at around 8:07 and 8:21 you will notice a huge misalignment between the buoy outside the water and the part of it that is in the water.
    Another thing is that you are reviewing it for the iPhone. I will do it for the Note 20 Ultra and S22 Ultra (as these are the ones I have :P ) so, if you would like to see my review as well, I will put English subtitles and I invite you to take a look.
    Been working with divevolk material for some years now and I have to say i am very happy with them.
    Also, I am waiting for the WiFi transmitter, an idea that I gave them to make so that we can use the phone as a outside camera monitor while doing video or photos, mainly to macro, where we cannot have the face right on top of the cameras viewfinder... (the wifi transmition underwater was not my idea, it's an old thing from GoPro , years ago, but the way it is used, with a cable antenna, an articulated arm, etc yes, I have a video on that on my channel) .
    Have you tried that?
    Liked and subscribed :)

      not exactly, you can use the wide angle without a red filter, but if you do want to use a red filter, you'll have to play with it underwater to get any air out, prior to video.

    Nice review, general question. Wife and I are going to Dominica Republic for a five day liveaboard to "snorkel with whales" trip. All on the surface pointed down at whales and their calves so I'm thinking I need something wide angle--I like to get snorkelers in foreground, whales beneath. From the surface looking down do you think I would need the red filter? I am very familar with the photo capabilities of my iPhone 14 Plus and the Divevolk housing looks right for me, and I wil add the wide angle attachment and selfie handle. (Although I would not be taking selfies, just like to hold a handle rather than the phone.) Does this sound right for this application?

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. There is a land yard for the housing I would suggest using it to prevent accidental drop. If you are only snorkeling and not diving below 10 feet I would not bother with red filter. Since whales are bigger I would minimally use the internal .5. Or the wide angle without a red filter. You can always crop in post production. If you use a tray remember it will be heavier. Yes it provides stability but on long dives holding can be tiring. One of the things you could do as well is shoot the video in slo-mo then in post production speed it up to desired pace. Slow motion on big whales is a cool visual. Hope this helps.

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I don’t think a selfie stick gives you the stability you need. That is my opinion.

    • @RainbowPhotoTours
      @RainbowPhotoTours ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. Even though we are snorkeling the whales beneath is are deep, from surface depth to barely visible so I am still questioning the color of the deep whales.

    • @Tec-360-Videoland
      @Tec-360-Videoland ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RainbowPhotoTours well at that point, color correction will be needed anyway. the Red filter is not going to help. Be careful if you use a selfie stick. The Housing and phone are heavy at the end of the stick be careful if trying to lift it out of the water. Lift it out vertically not horizontally. I almost lost mine that way while videoing in Lake Titicaca in Peru. Last thing you want, is for it to break and sink in deep water. Also, check your focusing. In open water the 14 Pro can be challenged while trying to focus.

    Seems like using that wide angle lens would help with a whale shark or shooting a wreck well! I was looking at the kit which includes this wide angle lens but do you have to purchase the red filter separate or does it come with the kit? I would have like to see you do an over&under photo without the red filter behind the wide angle to see how it came out and did hear you say to use a defog solution to prevent water drops on lens. GoPro had a wonderful answer with their new lens not needing a lick or defog to solve this problem and maybe Divevolk will offer this on their updated model?!!! Attaching lanyards is great advice to all the camera accessories to prevent them from sinking away! Thanks so much for sharing your tips!!!

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Red filter was separate. But you can get a red filter anywhere. Just make sure it’s the right MM. the wide angle is a wet lens. You can use a defogger on lenses to help keep droplets off but make sure you apply evenly . This wide angle though isn’t really designed for doing a split above below water shot. You can get lucky and get some but it’s tough.
