I can't began to explain how crazy her impact on the main stream music industry would have been, if she would have chose to go that route. she would be a problem for a lot artist out today.
Her 2 albums from 2007/2008 ‘Rise’ and ‘subconscious’ remain hugely underrated masterpieces and an example how to use newer electronic production values but not at the expense of lazy songwriting. Check out the great key change at the end of this song for example.
In this age of uninspired reusable pop productions, Samantha shines out in the darkness like the Lighthouse of Alexandria. Her amazing mix of old-school jazzy rhythms with her incredibly sweet sensual voice evokes emotional atmospheres unmatched by any other artist I have ever heard. Her tunes are utterly erotic, mega-hypnotic and absolutely addictive.
I found her and immediately fell in love with her voice and the beat of the tunes. She has to be one of the most moving artist I’ve heard in thirty years. I find myself wanting to dance and air drum!! Simply angelic.......❤️
The entire album is a must have. The only problem is it's hard to find in stores because they only order two copies and of course both copies have been sold. SJ is such an incredible artist, with a beautiful, soulful voice. And just as everyone has said, she has been criminally ignored by mainstream radio, which is such a shame! But at least we get to treasure the amazing music she has put out 😊

Sure, lyrically she's not on the same level as Sade - or even close - but there's this sort of naivete that is so refreshing and so very, very needed. And for that alone, I'll always place her on a level with the likes of Sade and others.

She's talented, but not in the same league as Sade. Sade lyrics are powerful, Samantha's are nice lyrics.
