Pretty stupid and Dangerous design, for the truck to just shut off without notice. I’m about to install a aftermarket low reservoir coolant audible buzzer alarm to alert the driver rather than the engine shutting off.
09 freightliner cascadia, my yellow and red started flashing, and my truck turned off. I got two more days of work is it safe to continue to finish my two days or rather just stop.
I've been driving with Orange light for 2 weeks "Coolant level sensor problem detected". Then SPN 111 FMI 1 came on "Coolant level is very low" with Check Eng. and Stop Engine light ON, when actual level was full, ok. I drove with that for a week, truck didn't shut down. Then right before changing the sensor I took a flat screwdriver and bent (just a bit) two contacts On the Sensor. Put the plug back in and ALL LIGHT WERE GONE. No problems for the last 3 weeks.
You just saved me $475.
