I have been avoiding these puzzles for years! I couldn't wrap my brain around the technique. You have made it so understandable and a logical way to solve them. ( At least it's a start for me.) I purchased a puzzle book that said EASY-

Excellent! Dee. I strongly suggest that you study and watch the videos from 1-12 and then you will have no trouble doing easy puzzles. Often books say they are easy but they are not. Hang in there...It is worth it. See if you can get a book of very easy puzzles. Just came back from a charter trip where I spent a lot of time on the beach solving sudoku puzzles. As I progressed I noticed that my techniques where insufficient at higher levels.. REALLY frustrating.. I realize now that the key is to have a more systematic approach! Thanks! Looking forward to the rest of the series and to finish my sudoku puzzles ;)

This is brilliant, I love puzzles but always was daunted by Sudoku. This explains it so well, it's a process of logic and elimination and this gives all the keys to solve even the most difficult of puzzles. Thanks so much, I am plugging through the videos one by one.

Hi, Sudoku, Guy. Great videos! At 12:34, you started to investigate the 8s in the center column of blocks of this puzzle. You passed an opportunity to fill in an 8! The bottom center block was the only one with an 8 in M,R (row,col.). Since the center block has only two empty cells, an 8 must occupy one of them (T,C or B,C) AND therefore, the top center block MUST have and 8 in B,L. You could then get the other 8. By the same logic, you could get the 9s as well.
You are right. In this simple puzzle My aim was to show a procedure more tnat anything else.

I often wondered how to do these puzzles. I tried figuring it out years ago while sitting in the dental chair, but that was a fail lol. Now with your teaching, I have a better idea how this all comes together. You sir are a very good teacher! So glad this was a recommended video. I thought the numbers had to total along the column & likewise width wise but to no avail. I gave up as I became so frustrated. Your simple but methodical system has given me a clear understanding. Thank you So much for explaining how this puzzle is Really played. 20 yrs ago my sister told Our Mom and Me this was a math problem instead of a process of elimination. She could only do the easiest ones and quit. Our Mom never a quitter tried for yrs to solve it using the math process my sister showed her. To Bad videos like this weren't available 20 yrs.ago..

Hey,@sudokuguy now that I'm know how to solve a sudoku i started solving it in the newspaper. Now one thing i have observed that in some puzzles there is nothing that matches in the blocks. So my question is that are there some unsolvable puzzles or i am doing it wrong
Good question sorry S but you are doing something wrong. All legitimate puzzles can be solved. I see you are on lesson 2. I suggest you continue looking at the lessons and tutorials and suddenly you will realize that you are missing a procedure or technique. I find some of the newspapers say a puzzle is easy but it's not. It depends on how many straegies you know and spot. Hang in there. My list of lessons are in the link below.
