It's so weird that both boon and boss are gone. I started watching your videos when they were the main characters, very sorry for your loss. Bindi is beautiful
13:56 Dunno if anyone else noticed this right here, where Bindi already has a rat in her mouth and within seconds she sees another rat jump out of the tire to her right and immediately drops the one she had and chases after the 2nd one. The more I see Bindi work, the more I'm amazed by her skills, abilities, efficiency and mindset. Bindi is just perfect for this kind of work.
There's another moment where Bindi was acting as backup, and as soon as the other dog had control of the rat she spun & went back to watch for more rats.
never see a happier, healthier doggo than a working one. Great workout for them, stimulation with the commands and ofc mink training. And they're doing what they're bred for, amazing!
13:32 Now that's what you call a smart thinking dog in Bindi, it never gets old watching her work. She chases after the rat with Leia, but as soon as she sees that Leia has the rat in her mouth, Bindi immediately does a 180 and returns to Joe to help out. Boss(RIP) used to display this same trait, and I guess Bindi was the only one to learn from him. This is a very rare trait in a hunting dog and Joe should be blessed to have Bindi.
Yeah back in the day Boss would get unreal combos. Maybe Bindi will one day get there but Boss was by far the best at getting 2,3,4+ rats in the blink of an eye. He took it personally.
Tag is coming along for sure, but LOL sometimes she acts like a cat! playing with its prey! Tag, you are a dog!😂 Nice to see this property getting cleaned up. Something like that will take a lot of time and effort. Thanks for sharing your part of the process with us, Joe!
@kimlindseyOH Shes still a pup. A teenager dog, basically. I think she'll get better and more serious as she gets older. Even Bindi messed around as a pup, now shes up there was boss as the best ratting dog.
I love how your dogs don’t get distracted by anything. They are so smart and agile! I’ve been watching a while and it’s so cool to see your minks work along with your dogs!
Can always count on Bindi, Leia and Gypsy to get the job done in these ratting hunts(RIP Boss). Tag on the other hand, still needs a lot of work and much to learn. Tag's problem is that she is not focused on the task at hand, thinks what they're doing is all just a game, as is evident in her goofy running around and demeanour. Her prey drive is inconsistent, and when she does catch a rat, she doesn't dispatch it right away like as if she's playing with it, or in fear of getting bitten. In terms of her potential, we'll have to wait and see in the coming year as she gets more ratting time under her belt and experience.
I wasn't sure if it was just me seeing Joe spoiled with Bindi or if Tag really is lagging behind in her work drive. Hopefully, she will mature in time. I know the bigger dogs do take longer to "grow a brain" and act their age compared to small medium sized ones.
"It's not the same now that boss is gone. R.I.P" Our loved ones(dogs included) will come and go, but their memories will stay with us until we pass. R.I.P Boss.
"NEED a Badger." OK, I'm not doubting you, but I am slightly skeptical. From what I've already seen you do. Dogs hunting wth Mink, & NOT goin after the Mink, or harming them by mistake, is pretty amazing. So, when you get, & then train a Badger........ I'm old, retired Military, been all over this Planet, & have seen A LOT of things. But if you train a Badger to hunt rats etc. next to/with Dogs & maybe Mink, that will be high on the list of CRAZY SH!T I have seen!! Good luck!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!
Smart to carry the rat tires out to the clear space, away from cover. The dogs have a much easier time spotting and running them down with open dirt around; good tactics! And Tag was such a good girl, sniffing out that escape tunnel under the planks! But maybe a Dachshund instead of a badger? Might be a little bit easier to get permits for, if nothing else~😂🦡🐀
Its been something truly special, to see Bindi's progress over time... Incredible! 💗 Tag is 10 months old and is already a little (well not so little 😅) superstar?! 🤩
Such an interesting channel. Lest we forget these are all working animals. The list of retired, deceased, lost animals would be long. You should(probably already do) have an honour wall.
I am genuinely interested in knowing what you do for after care with the dogs when they get bit or hurt by the rats? What goes into keeping the dogs healthy and avoiding infection or sickness?
I could never understand how some farmers could let their property become so full of trash, It's unsanitary, dangerous and is a threat to the animals to have so much trash around. My family and I own and operate three large farms and none of them ever look anything like this guys farm, disgusting to say the least. Great job on the rat removal, Joe and crew.
At least now it is getting cleaned up. There's hope it gets better. But even as a non-farmer I cannot help but wonder. I know a farm is not a museum, there will be junk, but there sure is almost always a way to contain junk until you ship it off or have someone pick it up?
Glad you have time to run to the dump all the time or make enough money to have people come get it. We usually only have time to clean in the winter and by then it's a slow process because everything is covered in a foot of snow. Most farms, if not all farms I know of have a trailer or designated 'junk' spot. We don't all have the money to always buy new either so we go to that junk spot to find a crooked board or junk piece of tin that we need for something.
Layah...the slayah...and Tag is comin round. Nice work Joe , You got the knak fer dat sht ;) Love the mink action at any time you bring it...thanks. and... (Happy Thanks to you and family ;)
I think Bindi had herself a little snack around the 10-min mark! Such a great dog. They all are. Boss can never be replaced but I see Bindi leading the pack soon if she dosen't already. She remembers that pulling up lumber flushes rats! She was great on top of that cart rattling the timbers and scaring out a good dozen rats there alone.
Leia really seems to be trying step into Boss's paw prints chasing down a lot of runners and didn't seem to play with the rats as much as she appears to have done in the past.
Tag is being cute by taking the rat away to kill it by herself as gypsy is always interfering she is still a pup in training she will soon learn 😂love watching the dogs at work they are a great team you should be very proud of them Joseph All the best from Glasgow Scotland 🏴
"Tag is being cute by taking the rat away to kill it by herself" That's not "cute" at all but a waste of time and an annoyance, as is evidenced by Joe's comment at the end of this vid. An inefficient dog on a team of working dogs is what's called a weak link, and if Tag doesn't learn from and grow out of that behavior, I can guarantee we won't be seeing her on Joe's roster.
@@metarugia3981 Yeah it doesn't help that she gets chased by the little dogs. I think them trying to take the rat out her mouth is why she keeps running off. Her real problem is that she keeps playing with the rats by throwing them around and she has lost several that way already
Uh oh you aren't going to try to turn a badger into a trained ratter are you, having been here for a while I wouldn't put it past you to try. If anyone could do it I believe you possibly could. Anyways happy Thanksgiving to all out there.

Interesting seeing tag with the tire rats, the first ome hes clearly trying to grab the butt/tail and leia comes and takes it from him and then the second one he didnt even have a chance to chase it so when the third one came he grabbed it by its back as fast as he could instead of running around with it.
Joe is building an army!! Air support: Hawk Ground support: Dogs Underwater: Mink Underground: Badger What other military support is going to be acquired? 🤔😂

I was just trying to recall when Onsa died, because I had been watching for a while when that happened.

Tag is such a natural at ratting. I like how she searches spots where the other dogs aren't and is coming up successful.

minor correction: its 180, not 360. if it was a 360 she would have gone in a circle an be facing the same direction.

I’m glad to see this - I’ve often thought that the long term answer is for the owners of the properties to clean them up!
Great fun! Never went back to that flat tire I don't think, but I just wanna see more
Joe's poses with the dead rats at the end are always so funny to me

Bindi never ceases to amaze me, never did I think a pit bull was such a good working dog!
Your hat always makes me laugh… lol! Great dogs though!!
Joe training a badger for ratting would be crazy yet unsurprising lol
Badgers are smart- A badger just might turn out to be one hell of a ratting hunter.
I think a pig might make a good ratter also. Pigs snouts are amazing digging instruments!
17:44 I'm 5'00" and let me tell you, I felt Leia's attempt to jump 😂
That first rat that came out the tire 2:15 was the mvp
Boss is truly missed! Tag have a long way to go.

Great ratting video with the dogs, can't wait for when the minks will be deployed though, maybe there will even be a guest appearance from Raptor! 😉

Tag turned out to be a good dog.
One question, when you show that you caught about 200 rats or 300, how many do you think were still alive hiding in the holes?
We dig up or send mink or water through the holes, so very very few.
