    I am taking a class in monotype. We carefully clean our plexiglass plates, everyone wears latex gloves, the different stations - inking, printing, drying - are all kept apart to avoid an ink mess. And the printing is done using a massive intaglio press that the instructor operates while we watch. There is nothing wrong with that and I enjoy the class. But it is a huge breath of fresh air to watch you create your minimalist monotypes using the flimsiest matrix imaginable along with a bit of tape and a few scraps of torn paper!

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you let the first black layer dry before adding the white? I keep getting a muddy grey otherwise

    • @DanTirels
      @DanTirels  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that can be a problem with oil paints, when I film these videos, I do sometimes leave an hour or 2 between each application of paint, but I didn't do that with this one. I would suggest using very little black for the first layer and slightly more white for the highlights. leaving the black layer to dry for a few hours would help, so work on more than one at a time.
