I went out of town and got some juice from a "made-to-order" shop. Of course it tasted like chemicals and nothing like the fabulous juice a had just sampled. Spent my Mother's Day morning steeping in my crockpot and Holy Crap.! It worked so freaking perfect. Thanks so much for the instructions. You made this girl very happy.
I just got home with a bottle of freshly mixed Juice and I am experiencing the "Chemical taste" that you speak of. I am about to try the Crock Pot method as well. Any advice? How long did you step it in the crock pot? Adding fresh air periodically? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I use a Dr. Scholls foot bath it has a heating element and massager/agitator plus it gives me an excuse bi-monthly (when I order my juice) to treat myself. In most of these foot baths there is space between your heels to put three or four bottles of juice in a ziplock bag, I also shake and open the caps during this process to introduce fresh air. Why spend $50-$150 on something that serves one purpose in your life when you can spend $25 and soak your troubles and bad flavors away, I hope this helps.
I use an ultrasonic I got on ebay a few years ago. (search 60w 2L) Maybe $50 Came with a metal cage and a top. I never use the top because it doesn't really sit well and just adds to the rattle but the cage is excellent to dampen the noise. I "speed steep" about 9 60ml glass bottles or 120 ml chubbys at a time. I set the temp to 62 Celsius which is 143.6 Fahrenheit and it stays comfortably around 65 to 66 when full with bottles. The cleaner will rattle for 30 minutes at a time and I actually have equated that an hour at my settings is about a week so I generally do everything about 3 hours. Maybe I'm unknowingly doubling up but it works for me. Cheers on the video. Thank you.
I also forgot to add that I shake my bottles by hand after I mix before adding to the ultrasonic (and also while I'm mixing each ingredient). And lastly I do breathe my juice the hour to hour and a half while it is in the ultrasonic cleaner which is why the cage comes in handy. So at first I am breathing, agitating, bathing, and warming. After about an hour to an hour and a half I cap them and shake (just b/c) and put them back for atleast another 3 sessions (1hour and half). Then room cool and enjoy my mixes.
I thought I had a bottle of juice left, but NOPE! I do a hot water for 20 minutes and toss in a cigar box for a week method. I had to get juice to hold me until an order from Arizona got to my house in Denver... busted out the crock pot and knocked this out in a few hours. Thanks so much!
I’m a sort of beginner vaper and all my juices tasted horrible I had thought I was burning coils but that wasn’t the case ... I wasn’t steeping my juices and was getting and uneven level of nicotine in my vape . Thank you this was really helpful . Bright side ? I now have even coils to last me a year 💀
The way I speed steep is I'm a lorry driver and I put the bottles up on the dash at the windscreen with the heater on and while I drive it warms and agitates the liquid and every time I stop I give each bottle a good shake and back on the dash I find in one 10 to 12 hour shift my liquid is like its been steeping for two to three weeks with the cupboard and shake method works really well for me but I know not everyone drives as much as I do so try putting on top of your radiator at home and shake from time to time
I wrap bottles in a rag then tape them to a long sawzall blade and shake the heck out of em till the juice is cloudy them warm water bath for a few hours then set for a few weeks
I work 2nd 2-10:30 and I would purposely leave all my juice in the car during the summer to let it warm up. With the cap on. After a couple of weeks it was extraordinary.
put your liquid in a amber glass bottle, and put it on the radiator on low/medium heat over night, in the morning shake it well put it in a cool dark place all day. Next night do the same take it out in the morning shake it and let it breathe for 1 hour with open cap, and there you go 2 weeks of steeping in two days. you are welcome ;)
Thanks for this. New to vaping and still learning. Bought a green apple juice from the local shop and it seemed to have almost no flavor at all. I started out with a different brand which was very good but I wanted to give something else a try. Was searching online and read about steeping going to give your method a try to see if it helps.
I use a bubbler from a small fish tank in 2 days it does the job. At a rough guess it's the same as 2.5 months in a warm place shaking 3 times a day. Think about it to oxidise something you need to add oxygen
I just put my bottles (ltr) in hot hot tap water leave for hr shake... Fresh hot again hour then shake leave open for 3 or more hours. Try some and its not bad but leave open over night then hot water again next day... Use another juice and leave for about week to 2... Making in ltr's i have a nice strong liquid now and never run out... I thought this video was awesome and i just got into making my own and yeah its pretty much the same your doing as i was taught. 👍🏻
Now bear with me on this one. I've heard of people using a dryer (yes a clothes dryer) to steep their juice. The people that have tried it have actually said it is their preferred method. They put their bottles in a sock or something like that and throw it in the dryer. I've already done some research on this, and the dryer doesn't get hot enough for PET plastic bottles to leech into the juice. Has anyone tried this? What do you think?
Jamie Roberts Yeah I tried it. It works really well haha. I don't do it much because it's such an energy waster and when I do, I try and use a lower heat setting but long story short, it worked pretty well. Used PET bottles and it didn't seem to affect the bottle, but I'm no expert.
Julian M awesome well thanks so much for the tip!! I'm sure I could try to save some energy and put em in with a load of clothes too. I'm sure that won't affect it. So is this your preferred steeping method now? I still wanna try the crockpot thing. I'm starting to run outta the 20ml bottles I have though 😆 only got 10 plus the old bottles I had and cleaned out.
subbed big lad, i often use the sonic although mine is only a small cheap unit...it works ok but not brilliant, been toying with the idea of a small crock pot, thanks for the temp tip....
I found with short fills before the nic is added the flavour is strong but once the NOC shots are added flavour mutes so leave it a minimum of 48hrs before I use it but I try to leave it at least 2 weeks when possible, so I now pre buy my juices.
I don't know what to think now. I am not 100% sure of the source - my memory could be wrong - but I think someone from CentralVapors dot com told me the best way to 'speed steep' was to put the bottle in direct sunlight, like a windowsill. This is pretty much the opposite of 'cool dry place' and yet that method always seemed to work extremely well for me, believe it or not. 6-8 hours in direct, bright sunlight was enough to steep a 50mL bottle. Not only did I notice a taste improvement but the color of the juice always would get several shades darker when steeped.
The juice colour will get darker in direct sun lite. It works if you put in a trunk on a sunny day or any covered dark warm place Sunlight or any light isn’t supposed to be good
ebay sells the ultrasonic cleaners yo u want one with a 99 min timer get the water up to 80deg run 2 cycles shake between cycles then let cool down with the lid off use a jar
So I live in Arizona we get to 120 and that's even hotter . Dose my truck count ? Jk. What I do is use he heat tape and thermostat . Its basically a heating coil controlled by a t-stat . Cheap and easy
1 and 2 are not different processes...they are parts of the same process....keep em in a cool dark place and what I do everyday is shake and vent the bottles. I just open them and squeeze out the air and suck some in a few times then cap em back up and store em again. you can see the juice start to get darker just after a few days and the taste starts to pop just after a few days
Are there any ejuice company's that guarantee they steeped their juices to perfection before their available online ? Or is this just a subjective method for everyone's pallet on flavor
Beginner vaper here. If anybody can tell me... What does steeping do, and is there a limit to how long you steep it? If there isn't a length for "too long", what is expected to longer it IS steeped?
I use the ultrasonic cleaner method ,works great I set the temp at 40 degrees celceous witch is about 105 degrees Fahrenheit, because nicotine starts to break down at 108 degrees. I steep it for 4 hrs. Works great just watch the temperature.
@Lizard juice. I got a question. I recently started buying my own juice concentrates. Anyways I order my 70/30 premixed 12ml nicotine in bulk. I got a ton of 60 ml bottles. So an example I mix 15 ml of cola concentrate with the rest being my nicotine premix I’ve heated and shaken for first day and then put in cupboard and shook it for 3 or so days after as well and I’m still not getting hardly any damn flavour. The cola concentrate is an alcohol pg base. Any advice what I could do to actually get flavour to “pop” haha. It smells amazing but no taste...
Deadra Donaldson well, I mean with trial and error. Not to bad when you get the taste you want . You want to taste it periodically to you flavor preferences I don't steep long. 30 tops. But I also vape alot of fruit flavors. And I have to shake it since I don't have anything that most people use. I just use hot water and a tupper wear dish
Tanner Ferrell I also use a lot of fruit flavors. I have a tropical that tastes nothing like the first bottle I bought. I mean it's totally different. I let it sit out and breath for like 2 hours earlier. But it's still the same. You only letting your juice sit for about 30 mins in warm/hot water? And periodically shaking it during that 30 min?
One can speed steep juice in the microwave oven. Use glass or container that can withstand microwaves. Run it on high for about 10 seconds. Repeat if necessary. About the same method as the quick aging of whiskey/cognac made from moonshine and whiskey or cognac concentrate.
Good info .... I have never thought to explain how to properly age ejuice (I don't say steep because did the definition). That may be an idea for my channel; comparing the different ways of aging and the results of each. Thanks for the info.
Think I'll try my wife's ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, a our shop we have a ultrasonic parts cleaner that's heated, it's a kick ass machine that can hold a transmission, or heads etc. I think it might be too much for small bottles.
Microwave 30 seconds shake then cool I'm freezer 30 mins do this 4 times and your good to go. Heating liquid up shaking then cooling it down so liquid and concentrate bind together cooling locks it in
Those vape wild Juices are always gross until I steep them for a minimum 4 months. I don't buy from them any longer. Something is really wrong with their Juices when I first get them.
call me stress he literally showed plastic bottles in this video while mentioning the crock pot method lol. You can use plastic bottles in the CP method, water just can’t be as hot as if you used glass
is it possible to do this too much for a juice and lose the flavor? I tried this with a blueberry waffle juice last night for about an hour and vaped it , the flavor isnt bad , but its barely there. If you can "fast steep" it too much , is there a way to get the flavor back (let it set for a bit or something)?
kenneth vinup it sounds like you tried to vape it straight after "speed steeping" your juice. You should try letting it air out, or "breathe" and cool off for a few hours and shake it really well. I would also recommend a stirrer.
Anyone recommend a supersonic cleaner? I'm gunna try the crock pot method but if it doesn't work right for my variety of flavors I'm getting a cleaner.
All steeping sounds like is waiting for the juice to oxidize before vaping it fully. Seems dumb. I've never tasted any major difference between the two.
I yell at my bottles to get them agitated
I'mma try this.
