I'm happy to here this song 🇻🇺🇻🇺 Bali hai Is the name refers to a mystical island, visible on the horizon but not reachable, and was originally inspired by the sight of Ambae island from neighboring Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu, where author James Michener was stationed in World War II.
I'm proud of this song ❤️ 🇻🇺 Bali hai is the name refers to a mystical island, visible on the horizon but not reachable, and was originally inspired by the sight of Ambae island from neighboring Espiritu Santo in Vanuatu, where author James Michener was stationed in World War II.
Okay... these old videos are being re-posted quite frequently. Does this mean Five is about to drop?????? I've been waiting for at least a year for this to come! We need the final EP in the series! I can't take the suspense!!!!!
I loved her music back then. This from the Enchantment albums was her best. Sad she left her roots, I miss this Charlotte. I still play this album and the compilation cd . but, the rest Amira Willighagen has picked up the slack. If she ever comes back we will have two beautiful singers. Sorry Jackie does not atract me. Only this Charlottte and Amira
@@fredbloggs6080 I did see it. I have respect for Jackie as an artist, but she never hit me like Amira. I bought three of her albums before Amira's came in. I played maybe 2 times and bored. Amira's came in 3 plus years ago and still play all of her music. Again Jackie is good, just not my taste. I had seen this video and again not my taste
@@passqualecaiazza7728 Well, in that video she's trying to sing in different genres, plus she has a huge cat mask on her head. I think she's still developing and we will see what turns up. For me when Jackie was about 10 to 12, and in a slightly different mode for several years after, and also looking back at her recordings from when she was 8 to 10, I definitely experienced of the so-called "Jackie Effect", which I did not get from any of the other child singers, because of the purity and accuracy, and, starting at about 10 years old, maturity, of her voice. To me, at those ages she was ahead of Amira, Patricia Janeckova, or Charlotte Church, although whatever age Charlotte is here, she does a very good job. With Amira, to me, her voice quite often sounds strident, and even Sterre Van Boxtell has a bit of that type of over brightness to her voice. As an example, the classical voice I would compare all others as the gold standard of tone and resonance currently is Sonya Yoncheva.
@@fredbloggs6080 Charlotte 15 here. You go listen to Jackie if like her. I will stick to Amira. One of the problems I had with Jackie she did not always understand what the words meant. Example many times singing O Mio Babbino Caro over the years. At about 12 or 13 she was on some kind of morning talk show and sang it. I saw it on You Tube. After singing the song the host walked over to her she said nice. Then she asked Jackie, do you know what it means, Jackie answered no. From the beginning Amira had the I Italian translated to Dutch. Also, on her last two streaming concerts last year, she described the piece she was singing. This to help understand the story. Another was your Love. The video with Jackie happy kids all over. I saw the movie never once in the movie was there any joy. So, while Amira is not techniquely correct, she does do the other half of a song, and that is adds the emotions of the piece to the song. Oh, and I can careless what Charlotte is doing. What I heard was a lot like the video you recommended only worse. I do miss the old Charlotte, but I do enjoy Amira more. Lets leave it at that
@@passqualecaiazza7728 Are you sure you're not thinking the performance by Jackie of O mio babbino caro when she was eight years old on Debra Crosby's Talent Quest, when the host talked to Jackie before she sang and asked her if she knew what the title meant and Jackie said "I'm not sure"? She was eight years old then. I have to disagree, I think when Jackie was 10 to 12, she put a lot of emotion in her singing, although it seemed become a little more pro forma after that. But what I like is the tone of Jackie's voice, with the right material. I'm not sure what video are you are talking about with Your Love, but Jackie performed that on various talk shows and her performance was always appropriately haunting.
Absolutely beautiful vocalist! Perfect rendition of Bali Ha'i.

I am singing this as a soprano next weekend! I got to sing it when I played Bloody Mary in a 1987 production. I love the soprano version much better!
