  • Cyclami A2 mini electric pump review and test
    2024 32.
    Video 665.
    After my pump issue, it was clear I needed a new pump or something. I had seen a few adverts for these electric mini pumps, so after some research I bought one from AliExpress.
    I hope that you find this useful.

    I have not got past the intro Duncan and Had to comment. It's been bloody cold !
    I have been back in my October gear this week on the commute. couldn't feel my fingers half way home passing through Rammy the other day. And they have said that May was the warmest on record.....
    Back to the video.

      @@JamesSocialCycling 100% correct, all utter lies and nonsense, anyone who believes the lies about every month for (I think) 14 claimed consecutive months being the hottest on record needs help, same as anyone who thinks this is normal and not controlled needs help, the climate change hoax in full effect.

    I think the other thing worth knowing would be how fast the cells in it self discharge/degrade after being fully charged❓ This is difficult to test unless you are willing to leave it for weeks, but if they are poor quality it could leave you stranded even when you believe it to be fully charged😬

    • @DuncMcNutt
      @DuncMcNutt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi Mike. Yes, I have also wondered how it will hold charge when left a long time. Let’s just say I will still be carrying a hand pump until I can trust it.
      At the moment although cold out at 10 degrees C, it’s still not 1 or 2 degrees C. So it will be interesting to see how it performs in the winter.
      Watch this space.

    Sooo, do you think this would fill a motorcycle tyre?... Far less pressure, so the pump doesn't have to work as hard, but a lot more volume.

    • @DuncMcNutt
      @DuncMcNutt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. No, I don’t think this would manage with a motorcycle tyre. As you say the volume is a lot bigger. There are similar products made marketed at motorcycles I have seen.

    I really thought it would pump up the tubes a lot quicker, more in line with a c02 canister. Do you think this kind of thing is worth getting Duncan? I do love how small it is. Great vlog my friend 🙌

    • @DuncMcNutt
      @DuncMcNutt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They do pump up pretty quick initially, then getting the higher pressure is what takes time. With a CO2 canister, I guess the pressure in the canister is so so much higher. I haven't used CO2 for years. Not since the days I used to carry it when doing time trials or triathlons....and I haven't done a triathlon since 2016. Time will tell if I think it's worth getting over a CO2 setup.
      Thanks Mark.

      It’s the noise that puts me off, think I would be banned from my group if I took that out. C02 for me I think, although rarely need to use with tubeless

    • @DuncMcNutt
      @DuncMcNutt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@heidijarvis777 the noise issue isn’t much of an issue for me as I cycle alone 90% or more of the time I’d say. Another factor I suppose, if id have been in a group and my pump broke or I had CO2 canister flat chances are someone else in the group would have a pump or CO2.

    Don't think I could be bothered with that, it looks quite big and bulky, seems to take a fair amount of time to pump up, makes a racket that would drive me mad and is just another thing to charge up. Cycling used to be a simplistic sport, get on your bike and ride, now we charge, GPS head units, lights and gears in some cases and have then batteries in stuff like power meters and now throw in a mini pump. I have used CO2 for years and never had any issue, it's never failed me once, I carry 2 cartridges and I have a mini pump as a back up on every bike, butI have never ever needed a mini pump yet. Thanks for the review but that one is a no from me.

    • @DuncMcNutt
      @DuncMcNutt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d say it’s no bigger than carrying a couple of cartridges of CO2 plus a small pump as back up. I understand what you say about cycling being simplistic. I’ve been cycling for probably 50 years. Definitely 45.
      I dig out my CO2 last week. And another canister was flat. So that’s two I had that I remember recently. Maybe a bad batch? Anyway I have ordered some more to compare. CO2 is certainly a hell of a lot faster than the electric pump, but then the electric pump is a lot faster than my little mini hand pump.
      If we go back to the old steel frame days, I have one of those hand pumps that fitted under the top tube. They were pretty good. Mind you, I had one of those fail on me out on a ride once. It flew apart into several pieces. That’s the 100psi we used to put in. Luckily I wasn’t on my own!

    Stick to co2 cartridges more reliable than thing I think you wasted your money there

    • @DuncMcNutt
      @DuncMcNutt  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Really? I have had issues with CO2 cartridges letting me down when needed. Had a load that were flat when needed. That was years ago. Never went back to them as just didn't trust them after that.
