    Keep in mind you cannot control the optical audio volume. So if run to powered speakers you will only be able to adjust the volume by physically tuning the speakers up or down.

      So this would not make sense to buy if you want to use headphones?

    • @todds5956
      @todds5956 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@jellehoek8769 if your headphones have a volume on them then would be ok. Optical signal has no level adjustment. What does work better is a Bluetooth repeater. If you aren’t running to a surround sound receiver.

    • @SimpleCafeE

      Optical is a digital signal which needs to be converted to analog, which is RCA or AUX. and now there are no tables that are like this. Which is why you will need a converter as seen in the video. Just make sure that the converter reads digital to analog.

      Your TV seems to have 4 HDMI ports, one of which could be ARC compatible. In this case, you could use a HDMI audio extractor with HDMI ARC input and optical audio output or connect the HDMI ARC output of your TV to HDMI ARC input of your JBL home cinema system.
      There is no sense in converting from analog to digital and to analog back again, because signal audio quality will suffer degradation.

I'm trying to use wired headphones for my PS5 ( i don't like the output from directly plugging into the dual sense controller) but sadly my desktop dac is not working and I've read it's related to the PS5 only supporting UAC1 protocol or something. My current setup, PS5 to TV via hdmi, my TV has a 3.5 jack that's where i connect my speakers for sound. My TV also has an optical out. Will this "converter" bypass the sound coming from my TV dac and mainly use the internal dac of my PS5? It will be PS5 > HDMI >TV> connect optical audio port to converter > headhones. I mainly just want to use the dac on my PS5 since i don't wanna shell out more for dacs that are compatible with the PS5.

      Just four curiosity...Can you tell me if your TV has multiple HDMI ports? If it does, it is possible that one of them to be ARC compatible. In that case you would simply need a HDMI audio extractor, with ARC function, and optical audio output. You can connect HDMI ARC output from TV to HDMI input of the audio extractor and then, optical audio out from audio extractor to optical audio input of your sound system.
      There's no point in converting Audi signal from analog to digital, only to convert it back to analog, because the signal will suffer degradation.

    The best way to convert optical digital audio to analog RCA/jack output is through a dedicated and high quality DAC (digital to analog converter) able to reconstruct the analog signal very accurately and without artifacts. This requires an external power supply able to deliver high signal to noise ratio, over 100 dB, and very low harmonic distortion percentage, like 0.000x %.
