    Sir, thanks for your sharing, special from the old days photos, some really hard to found, 19:12 I grow up in there, at that building Block 2 Shek Kip Mei R/E Kowloon HK. Mr.Hickman wish you all the best...……

    If he was in the army after 1949, technically he didn't serve in China itself, it was Hong Kong.
    It's a bit like saying that someone who served in Gibraltar, served in Spain. It's sort of correct but not really accurate.

    Thank you for this very interesting film , which I thoroughly enjoyed, as I was with the Duke of Edinburgh royal regiment in 1959/1961, and you showed the cap badge, and also thetford where we went on a scheme as was called, memories recalled, thank you

    Hong Kong was, of course, one of the quieter overseas postings (though there were some riots there in 1967 which caused a couple of British fatalities); it must have been a great experience for this man and his colleagues nevertheless.

    My grandad joined TA in 1963 he was in 131 Para Engineers LAD REME did his training at Kingsbury and Mill Hill he was vehicle and recovery mechanic and did parachute training got his wings and went to Cyprus for annual camp he left TA in same year he wished he went into regular army but never did.
